Chapter 650: Chapter 652: Multi-party talks (3)

“I’m here to visit the set because Feifei is my best friend.”

It wasn’t a big fuss when Lu Weixi decided to visit the set. At first, people considered her one of Xue Feifei’s friends and relatives, just visiting out of curiosity. After all, this wasn’t something new to them.

However, now that they have noticed how familiar and warmly Yu Sixing speaks to her, coupled with his polite manner, suddenly Lu Weixi’s status seems much higher than before.

“Oh, I see. Miss Xue is indeed impressive; although she is a newcomer, she has great potential.” Using Lu Weixi as a pretext, Yu Sixing loudly praised his wife for her work.

Director Zhao was curious too. “Mr. Yu, who is this lady?”

Yu Sixing feigned wisdom in response: “She’s not part of the entertainment industry. She’s just here visiting friends.”

The less he revealed, the more curious everyone became. Maybe she was a real lady from high society who didn’t need to rely on acting to make money. Her confident and easy manner, her attire, while not designer, exuded a well-cultivated, calm aura, rather than the haughty posturing seen in some nouveau riche. This put her squarely in the same social circle as Yu Sixing.

So, everyone assumed that Lu Weixi was behind Xue Feifei’s success. Especially Xiang Yirou – noticing how polite Yu Sixing was towards Lu Weixi made her think that this woman really had some potential, besides being related to Qin Zhiyou.

But Lu Weixi kept a low profile, staying silent throughout their filming process, sitting quietly on the side. Yu Sixing sat next to her, his expression serious, his eyes fixed on the film set. They were shooting a bedroom scene next, he had to keep a close eye lest the actor try to take it too far.

Lu Weixi had visited sets before, but back then, Xue Feifei was performing in web dramas, which were entirely different from the high-end film now in production. Although Lu Weixi was not an actress, she could still observe that Xue Feifei’s acting was superior to Xiang Yirou’s, and her beauty certainly outshone hers.

Even when performing with Huang Mi, though Xue Feifei seemed a bit uncertain, the passion in her shone through, and she held her ground confidently. After a single take, Director Zhao called the three over and started talking about how to perfect the scene. Feifei took his advice to heart, polished her rough edges, and improved her poses.

The second shot was clearly better than the first one. But regardless of which take, Xue Feifei’s performance was better than Xiang Yirou’s.

Nevertheless, the second take was cut, all due to Xiang Yirou.

Then came the third, the fourth.

By the fifth time, even Director Zhao, notorious for his NGs, was getting a bit impatient. This was a group scene, with many actors. Everyone else’s performance was fine, except for Xiang Yirou. She had issues with her expression and forgot her lines, or was just too distracted.

This was filmmaking – they couldn’t afford to make mistakes. Unlike TV dramas, they don’t have the option to edit out mistakes post-production. Everyone needed to have their lines memorized, even if they had to be dubbed over later. At least they needed to say the lines at the time. Yirou, used to post-production dubbing, could only do so much to portray the emotions of the scene. The demand for her to be emotionally engaged was beyond her capability.

— Besides, Lu Weixi was sitting there watching. This made her uneasy, and increased her anxiety, causing her to mess up even more. Yet another scene was ruined.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
