Chapter 49 Determination
Soft and gentle.
A soft and comforting touch upon Nathan's cheek broke through his fog of slumber.
Nathan opened his eyes and woke up from his deep sleep. He was awakened by soft fur caressing him.
Nathan closed his eyes again, feeling the coolness of the air coming from the corner of the room.
The blanket that covered his body was very soft. The pillow he slept on was also comforting. It was a sensation he had missed so much after spending a couple of days in the dungeon sleeping in the wild jungle's open spaces.
Slowly, he opened his eyes, and his senses immediately got used to the dim surroundings.
He was in his caravan. "How long have I been asleep?"
"Woof… Woof…"
Nathan looked to the side and noticed a little furry creature lying beside him, something that had awoken him from his sleep.
"Fang!"
Nathan woke up and grabbed Fang's tiny body. He hugged the little wolf tightly.
"Fang… Are you okay? Oh, Fang… I miss you so much…."
"Woof… Woof…"
"You miss me too?" Nathan smiled.
Ever since Fang was crushed by Zander's attack the first day Nathan entered the dungeon, it didn't appear again.
Thankfully, Fang returned in perfect health without a trace of lingering injury.
Nathan shifted aside and opened the window curtains.
The sunlight broke through the glass and shone into the caravan's interior.
The warm sensation of the sunlight made the skin cells on Nathan's hands slowly awaken too.
"Midday?"
Nathan closed his eyes and took a deep, slow breath, enjoying the comfortable sensation he felt all over his body.
"I really miss the outside world."
He opened his eyes again and noticed what he was wearing. And sure enough, he had changed into his clean pajamas.
He touched his chest and could not find the slightest dirt there. He looked like he had taken a shower, though he was sure he passed out immediately after exiting the dungeon.
"Someone has cleaned my body and changed my clothes." Nathan closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I once asked Edna not to do this to me again."
Nathan was silent for a moment. His wild thoughts made him feel a little uncomfortable.
"Uh... Luna?"
There was a sound of giggling, along with the cheerful figure of Luna appearing floating in front of Nathan.
"Hi Master Nathan. How are you?"
"Luna, tell me. Who cleaned my body and changed my clothes?"
"Huh….?" Luna tilted her head, looking confused.
"I know you're awake even though I'm asleep. I'm sure you know very well what happened when I passed out."
"Wasn't Ms. Edna the one who used to do that?"
Nathan exhaled quickly. "Yes, but I once asked her not to do this to me anymore."
"Then… Maybeit was Muramoto-San? Or Marco?"
"No, that would be even worse. I'd rather Edna do it than them."
Luna chuckled at Nathan's words. "But you have forbidden Ms. Edna to do it, right?"
"Yes, but allowing men to change my clothes is worse than that. I can't even imagine it."
"Then… Does that mean you can imagine it clearly if Ms. Edna did it?"
Nathan lifted his face and looked at Luna. "Hmmm... At least Edna has often done that since I was a child."
"You'd better confirm that yourself, Master," Luna replied, still chuckling softly.
There was a knock from outside.
"Young master, are you awake already?" Edna's voice came from outside.
The caravan door opened, and Edna peeked in. She smiled upon seeing Nathan awake and healthy and then stepped inside.
She lowered her head and placed a glass teapot near where Nathan sat.
"How is your condition, young master?"
Nathan paused and looked at Edna. He breathed a sigh of relief after once again making sure the girl was fine. He had thought about the bad things that might also happen outside the dungeon.
Nathan smiled slightly and said. "Yes, Edna. Thank you very much."
Edna nodded, then reached for a drink bottle near her. "You better drink the mineral water first." She handed it to Nathan.
"Thanks Edna."
Nathan quenched his thirst with the mineral water Edna gave him.
Edna grabbed a glass and poured tea from the teapot into it. Slowly, then handed it to Nathan too.
Nathan held the teacup with both hands, inhaled the aroma, and sipped it. He closed his eyes as he sated his longing for these things.
"Marco has told us everything that happened inside, young master."
Nathan stopped drinking, hearing Edna's words. He put down the glass he was holding.
"Marco? What did he tell you, Edna?"
Edna smiled at Nathan's question, then continued. "He told me about someone who almost killed you. However, you managed to escape his kill attempt, and even managed to kill him in the end."
"Then?"
"Hmmm…. Marco told me about the problems he was facing, and also the contract he offered to you." She continued.
"Okay, so he told you that far."
Edna nodded. "Have you considered the offer, young master?"
Nathan was silent at Edna's question. After a few moments, he nodded.
"I thought about it a bit, and I'm more inclined to do it than not." Nathan answered, then nodded again.
"In fact, I think I will help Marco's sister, even without the offer he made to me." He continued.
Edna looked at Nathan with a facial expression that had immediately changed from before. "Bastien has great power, and their base is also guarded by powerful hunters."
"Do you have any other considerations, Edna?"
"Allow me to take over the task, young master. My fighting potential will increase by three to five times with my Dragonkin-form. I can force my way in and save the girl. You don't have to risk your life for this task. I can perform this task easily." Edna answered in a completely different tone of voice than before.
Nathan was silent for a moment, then spoke slowly. "Edna, hmmm… you know what? It was because of Marco that I could get out of the dungeon safely." he nodded, then continued. "I know he was also tasked with spying on me, but he chose to save me, risking his own life and maybe his sister's, too."
Nathan took a deep breath, then continued. "I know, maybe I am too naïve…." Then he smiled. "But I have to take this path. I couldn't just sit back and let Marco and his sister die simply because I was too scared to take action."
Edna looked at Nathan silently.
"I have several skills that can help me escape in case of danger. You can stand guard not far from that place and come help me if anything goes wrong."
Edna nodded slowly. But she just kept silent.
"I still have some time to think. Let me reconsider my strategy."
Edna nodded slowly and then smiled. "My feelings are asking me to forbid you, but I can't stop you from doing what you want to do. My duty is just to make sure you can develop without interruption. I will be the best support for you, young master."
"Thanks Edna. And... You haven't told me about what happened to you and Marco while I was inside."
Edna raised her eyebrows. "Ah, I just remembered. There was a group of people who were about to attack me and Muramoto-San. But young master Leon suddenly appeared and saved us." she replied.
"Huh? Leon?" Nathan looked up at the ceiling. "Hmm…. "
"He asked me to convey a message."
"Yes? What did he say?"
"He said, 'Don't forget to thank me.' And he also said about not letting you, his beloved brother, be hurt by anyone." Edna looked confused at Nathan after she finished telling the message.
Nathan chuckled lightly at Edna's story. "Are you sure? What a stupid big brother."
"Don't you have any grudges for what he did, young master?"
"I'm not sure, Edna. On the one hand, I hate Leon for what he's done. But he's still my blood relation."
Nathan then turned to Luna, who was hovering close to Edna. "Luna, how many more hours will it take until I can enter the crescent moon dimension?"
"Oh… Yes, 3 hours, about 3 hours." Luna answered, hovering closer to Nathan.
"Young master, what about your level? Won't this delay you from reaching level 50?" Edna interrupted.
Nathan turned to Luna. "Tell me, Luna. How many more dungeons will it take before I reach level 50?"
"Hmmm... If we try to think positively, a maximum of two more dungeons should be enough for you to reach level 50, Master." Luna answered slowly.
"Two more dungeons? And the days remain until the CEHA registration deadline is..."
"Six more days, young master." Edna continued.
"Six more days? Two more dungeons?" Nathan swallowed hard, then got off his small bed.
"Okay, I'll stretch my muscles for a moment before we enter the crescent moon dimension and meet with my beloved golds." Nathan looked at Edna and smiled.
"Master Nathan." Luna called. "Don't you want to ask Ms. Edna about who changed your clothes and also cleaned your body?"
Nathan turned to Luna and fell silent. Then he turned to Edna. "Eh… Edna…."
"Yes, young master?" Edna tilted her head. "Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"Eh… Hmm…" Nathan didn't continue and walked out of the caravan.
He closed his eyes and breathed in the fresh air he had missed so much.
He turned to one side, where there was a tent that Marco and Muramoto probably used to rest.
"Marco is getting treatment from Muramoto. He should get better." Edna caught up behind him.

A few hours later, Nathan and Edna locked the caravan from the inside, and as he had planned, they reentered the Crescent Moon Dimension.
