Chapter 55
Chapter 55: Paranoid
“Darling, what’s up? Why aren’t you speaking?”
My father’s voice traveled through my ears, pulled me back from my paranoid world.
“Um, Dad. No, I was distracted.” I replied, shaking my head a bit even though I knew he couldn’t see me.
“Where are you now?”
“I am on my way to go to campus. Where is mom?”
“She is with the neighbors. You know them.” I could see my father shrugged his shoulders and smile crept up on my lips.
“It’s good she blends with the neighbors quickly.” I said.
.....
“Yeah. So what is it that made you calling me? Do you need more money?” He asked.
I awkwardly laughed when he asked me that. It seemed like I did that a lot; calling them only to ask for my monthly money.
“No, I still have some with me, probably will be enough until next month.” I said. “I’m calling you for something different.”
“...Is it regarding your ability?”
How does he know? I was stunned.
“Sweetheart, ever since the last time you called me and asked about it, I’ve been having this feeling, telling me that you must have started seeing things. After all, the seal could only contain your ability until you were 17 years old. It’s been months now, so I am not surprised if you tell me you’ve been seeing things now. Am I right?”
“...” Dad, you are right.
“Actually, considering your age now, there are two options for you to do. First, to completely seal it. Second, to completely embrace your ability. Each of it has its own perks and it’s your choice that will be used. It’s your body, after all.” My father said again, ignoring my silence or maybe taking it as yes.
There. I had my answer and my options. My seal had weakened after I reached seventeen, which was why I could only see them after I entered university. And I could choose to completely seal it, or to completely unblock it.
“Will I be okay if I want to unseal it?” I asked.
“It’s okay. It might seem strange and a bit scary for you at first, but it will get better. Trust me. I’ve told you before that being able to see them is better than not able to see them, right?”
I remembered he did say something like that.
“Well, I’m coming back home for New Year’s holiday. I’ll make up my mind before that.” I told him.
“Sure. But if they are planning to do something bad to you, just remember not to be afraid. You are stronger than you thought, Darling.”
I had the urge to laugh when he said it. Should I tell him that I fainted after my first time seeing a real form of Kuntilanak?
“I’ll make sure to remember that.” Instead, I told him that.
After exchanging some other small talks with him, and talked a bit with my mother who had just returned, I hang up. Just in time, I reached my faculty.
Closing my umbrella, I stepped deeper into the building. After putting my umbrella near the entrance, I walked to the appointed room for my upcoming lecture. Maybe it was because of the rain, the faculty that was usually crowded now seemed a bit gloomy and creepy, with quiet halls and rooms. Only several students were seen so far -this time I made sure I heard their footsteps -but I felt better.
After I reached the room, I saw no one was inside. So, I turned back and sat on a nearby bench. I took my headset and plugged it on my phone. In a while, my favourite songs could be heard from it. This silence was truly suffocating me, so listening to music was the only way to ignore the horrifying feeling that might come.
Even so, I would unconsciously take a peek towards the door, fearing that something scary might appear. Or, towards the hall. Even in the corner of the ceiling.
Silly me, being afraid for no reason.
Huffing slightly, I tried to calm myself and to think of something more joyful. Like, thinking about Tom.
Now that I thought about him, the memory of the night before flashed in my mind. I could barely notice the blush in my cheeks.
I was so deep in reminiscing about our night when my line of sight caught a glimpse of familiar figure floating towards me down the hall. Staring at the familiar face, I arched my eyebrows.
Kunti?
What is she doing here? It’s the first time she came to meet me here.
Turning off the music without pulling out the headset, I asked her as soon as she came closer.
“What are you doing here?” I asked in a low voice.
Kunti grinned playfully. “I went to your room but Tom said you’re here. So I came here. By the way, I saw the blush!” She teased me.
I put my hands on my face and realized I was burning up with embarrassment.
“You must be thinking about that night, right?” She added.
“S-shut up!” I hastily scolded her.
Kunti laughed happily. “How was it? Did it feel good? Judging from how you screamed for more that night, it must feel good. Is he big?” Peered into my eyes, she floated happily, hovering all over me excitedly.
“Pervert. Why do you want to know?” I gritted my teeth.
“Hm, should I find my own human?” Ignoring my question, Kunti started to think about something else.
“Yes, then you can fuck him silly...” I said quickly.
