Chapter 483: 483, you are in charge of sending me.
Zhan Yao lifted his bottle again, “Little Princess, let’s continue.”
He was full of wit and knew quite a lot, and he could discuss a variety of topics effortlessly. Mo Weiyi was soon drawn into his charm and spent much of the time laughing heartily.
It wasn’t long before Tian Ye returned.
Behind him, two waiters followed, bearing several bottles of whiskey and brandy.
Tian Ye had regained her composure and was even taking the initiative to pour the drinks.
“Miss Mo, can you drink whiskey?”
Mo Weiyi raised her chin, “Of course.”
At this point, even if you can’t drink, you’d have to say you can.
With a smile, Tian Ye placed the full glass in front of her, picked up her glass, and clinked it with Mo’s.
Just as Mo Weiyi took a sip, she heard Zhan Yao speaking to Tian Ye, “Tian Ye, don’t drink too much. If you get drunk, there’s nobody to take you home.”
Tian Ye looked at him and scoffed lightly, “You’re the only single dog here. If I get drunk, you’re responsible for taking me home.”
Zhan Yao replied, “I have to go back and work at the station later.”
“Aren’t you the department’s top detective now? Do you still need to work shifts?”
Mo Weiyi looked at Zhan Yao, mouth agape, blurting out, “I just remembered, you’re a cop, right?”
Zhan Yao broke into an immediate smile, “The last time I saved you as a cop, don’t you remember, Little Princess?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Mo Weiyi nodded, “I remember, you visited my villa that day.”
“Not at all.” Zhan Yao, increasingly lively from the drink, had no clue something was amiss, “I’m talking about the day before that. I’d just got home when this stinker called me, telling me to trace your call within five minutes or he’d cut me off. Such a heartless jerk! I’ve never seen him this nervous. He even had me investigate that scumbag’s phone and fell out with all his…”
Suddenly, everything went dark, and an intense pain shot through his mouth. Before he could react, a beer bottle was forcibly stuffed into his mouth.
Mo Weiyi was stunned.
So was everyone else, taken aback by the sight of Zhan Yao’s mouth bursting with the beer bottle.
Rushing to pull the beer bottle from his mouth, Zhan Yao licked his teeth and his lips, spat out a few times, hurled the barrel back onto the table with a clatter, and glared angrily at someone, “Fuck, are you out of your mind? You almost knocked out my teeth! It hurts like hell!”
Compared to his jumping and swearing, Xiao Yebai’s response was as always, indifferent, “You talk too much.”
Zhan Yao: “…”
“Are you okay?” Mo Weiyi asked in concern.
The sight just now was really too brutal.
A beer bottle was jammed directly into his mouth, the front half was gone, almost reaching his throat!
It hurt just to look at it.
Was Xiao Yebai this brutal in front of his classmates?
Mo Weiyi suddenly felt like she didn’t know him enough…
Zhan Yao was grimacing in discomfort, but managed an awkward yet polite smile, “I’m fine.”
“Really?” Mo Weiyi still looked concerned, “Doesn’t it hurt?”
Zhan Yao: “…”
How could it possibly not hurt?
It’s killing me!
But he had to endure it.
Who can blame him for speaking out of turn, saying things he shouldn’t…
Mo Weiyi looked at Xiao Yebai, standing up for Zhan Yao, “Why would you do that? You could’ve killed him.”
Xiao Yebai’s expression remained unchanged, “He’s used to it.”
Used to it?
Mo Weiyi blinked her bright cat-like eyes, as if she had realized something.
Uh.
Zhan Yao might be a cop, but he looked tender and white-skinned, like a submissive young man from a bl novel. Could it be…
Did he often play SM with other men in private?
Mo Weiyi immediately picked up her glass and gulped down several mouthfuls.
She felt quite awkward looking directly at the ‘cop’ now.
Zhan Yao had no idea he was wrongly assumed to be a homosexual by Mo Weiyi.
He was massaging his cheek, feeling that he might have befriended the wrong person.
Damn, my cheeks hurt like hell, I can’t eat anymore.
Lucky I ate some earlier.
Zhan Yao grumbled to himself, feeling that Xiao Yebai was retaliating against him on purpose.
But it was also strange. This Little Princess was so lively, how could she tolerate Xiao Yebai’s reticent personality?
We’ve been sitting here for so long, and this jerk hardly spoke more than three sentences.
Tut tut, poor Little Princess.
Then he took out his phone, “Little Princess, shall we add each other on WeChat?”
So you can talk to me when you have no one else to chat with.
Mo Weiyi immediately took out her phone, “Sure.”
Xiao Yebai’s fingers tightened at his side, then slowly loosened.
Ye Bei watched as the two exchanged WeChat contact info, phone in hand. He wanted to intervene but his arm was pulled back by his girlfriend.
“Beibei, I need to go to the bathroom. Come with me.”
Ye Bei was impatient, “The bathroom is right in this room, why do I need to accompany you?”
“No, I want you to come with me.” As she finished speaking, the girl dragged Ye Bei along and they disappeared into the bathroom inside the room.
Once they went in, they did not come out.
The other people in the room turned a blind eye, understanding the situation.
As time passed, Tian Ye’s expression became progressively gloomier.
Everyone present knew that Ye Bei was her ex-boyfriend, yet he had vanished into the bathroom with his new girlfriend and hadn’t emerged.
To make things worse, someone just had to point it out.
“Isn’t that little bastard, Ye Bei, driven by lust? It’s been so long, and he’s still not out!” Zhan Yao laughed slyly.
“Ye Bei?” Mo Weiyi immediately looked at Tian Ye, “Miss Tian, isn’t Ye Bei your ex-boyfriend?”
That’s the name she mentioned last time, right?
Tian Ye: “…”
She picked up her wine glass and downed it in one gulp.
Mo Weiyi held back laughter, raised her own wine glass, “Miss Tian, I didn’t expect you to be so magnanimous. Here’s to you.”
Tian Ye once again: “…”
Mo Weiyi admiringly said with a chuckle.
She was willing to endure such flagrant humiliation from her ex-boyfriend, just for the chance to meet with Xiao Yebai.
In the bathroom, things were heating up. Outside, different thoughts were brewing amongst the crowd.
Xiao Yebai, a man of few words to begin with, became quieter. Tian Ye was not in a good mood, also remained silent. The only ones left chatting and drinking were Mo Weiyi and Zhan Yao.
All of a sudden, the shrill ring of a mobile phone broke the silence.
Tian Ye retrieved her phone, glanced at the calling ID and quickly picked up, “Mom, what’s wrong?”
“…”
“I got it, I’m heading there now.”
After hanging up, Tian Ye stood up, “I’m sorry, I need to make a trip to the hospital. Please continue eating, the bill is settled.”
Zhan Yao asked, “Is everything okay?”
Tian Ye looked at Xiao Yebai, “My mother is still in the hospital. She’s not feeling well, I need to go see her.”
“You better go now. Be careful on the road.”
Tian Ye nodded, grabbing her stuff and leaving.
After she left, Mo Weiyi suddenly felt bored.
And it felt like she had consumed too much alcohol. She could feel her face burning and a slight dizziness.
Looking at her wristwatch…
It was already past eight in the evening.
As if realizing something, Mo Weiyi quickly said, “I need to go home.”
She got up. But all of a sudden, the world spun and she toppled over.
“Watch out!” Zhan Yao shouted.
Her falling arm was caught mid-air by a man’s firm grip. Xiao Yebai looked down at her flushed face, his voice deep, “Going home?”
Mo Weiyi just nodded, quickly lifting a hand to her forehead.
No more nodding, it made her feel even dizzier.
Xiao Yebai glanced at Zhan Yao.
He immediately got up and fetched all of her belongings.
Xiao Yebai put her coat on her, helped her put on her hat, slung her bag on her, and stuffed her sunglasses in his pocket. He then supported her towards the exit.
“Do we need a designated driver?” Zhan Yao kindly asked.
“No need.” Xiao Yebai didn’t turn around.
**
Once they were out in the corridor, Mo Weiyi’s dizziness worsened.
This isn’t good, she was really drunk.
She was partly conscious, but she had no control over her own body.
She practically collapsed into the man’s arms, even hearing the steady beat of his heart.
She let him half carry, half lead her into the elevator. They weaved in and out, until a sudden gust of cold wind hit, causing her to snap awake. They were both outside. With her newfound strength, she pushed against him.
“Mmm… Let me go!”
Xiao Yebai halted.
He lowered his head, his fingers with evident knuckles gently lifted her small pointed chin, raising her face to meet his.
Mo Weiyi’s face was burning fiercely.
She hadn’t reacted at all when she was drinking earlier. However, the aftereffects of the alcohol were strong, and she had drunk ruthlessly. Being wobbled around by him on their way out only exacerbated her drunkenness, with symptoms of her intoxication showing through.
