Chapter 1266 The Cursed One Title (Part 4)

Chapter 1266  The Cursed One Title (Part 4)

Before coming to Utopia through the Tower of Ascension, Evan's title, "The Cursed One", had affected him a few times when he was in the Arora World.

After experiencing the effects of the title on a few occasions, he was able to guess its general influence, but he was not entirely certain about its specific effects.

A few months ago, when he came out of the Tomb of the Ancient and met Anastasia for the first time, he discovered that this title not only affects him but also the people around him.

Upon meeting Anastasia after coming out of the Tomb of the Ancient, he received a notification stating that the effect of his title, "The Cursed One," was nullified by the title, "Progenitor of the Shadow Dragons."

When he later asked Anastasia about it, she explained that his title had tried to place a curse on her. However, her Progenitor title made her immune to all curses, so it could not affect her.

Anastasia further informed him that, based on what she could discern about the curse, the closer someone was to him, the higher the chances of that person being affected by his title and becoming cursed.

At that time, after learning that his title could affect people around him, Evan was afraid that Cedar, with whom he had spent most of his time since coming to Utopia might have already been affected by the title.

However, Anastasia reassured him that Cedar was not yet affected. Nevertheless, after learning about his title, he decided to minimize his contact with Cedar, fearing that prolonged interaction might eventually subject him to the title's curse.

Even after learning about the curse aspect of the title, Evan was not entirely sure about its full range of effects.

At this point, he knew his title had at least two distinct effects:

1. It affected his emotions to a great extent when something happened to people he was close to or had been in contact with.

2. It affected the people close to him by placing a curse on them.

The first effect influenced Evan directly, while the second affected the people around him.

In the case of the first effect, when someone close to him or someone he had been in contact with died, his emotions toward them would turn completely cold, as if their death did not matter to him at all. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

This had happened in the Arora World when the Terror Brothers, whom he had been in contact with were killed.

At the same time, this effect also influenced his emotions toward the person responsible for their death.

For example, when he found that it was Oliva who had killed the Terror Brothers, his emotions were drastically affected.

At that time, before killing Oliva, he had tortured her for several days before finally ending her life.

Once he killed Oliva—the one responsible for the Terror Brothers' deaths—the title stopped influencing him.

However, even though the title's effect ceased, his emotions toward the Terror Brothers never returned to normal. His feelings remained indifferent as if their deaths had nothing to do with him and had no impact on him whatsoever. It was as if they had been complete strangers.

This aspect of the title's effect was very peculiar, and Evan suspected there might be additional factors involved. For now, however, these were the only patterns he had identified.

As for the second effect, which curses the people close to him, Evan had not been aware of what kind of curse it places on people close to him when he left the closed world of Drayds.

However, he began uncovering clues about it in the Blood Dungeon.

In the Blood Dungeon, he asked the black figure if it knew anything about his title, "The Cursed One."

The black figure revealed that the title was also related to his Bloodline and Race. Initially, Evan did not think much of this information and assumed he would need to consult the Will of Utopia for further clarification.

However, upon reflecting on the black figure's words, he began to see a pattern. This revelation prompted a hypothesis about the title's nature and its connection to his bloodline.

---) Balance Weaver (Forbidden-Level Skill): By trading life for death and vice versa, the user can heal or harm in equal measure. For instance, the user can resurrect a fallen ally, but only by claiming the life of another being nearby. This skill cannot be used on individuals whose levels exceed that of the user. However, those revived using Balance Weaver will be subjected to the curse of the Doom Bringer Bloodline, which reduces their luck to the lowest point and exposes them to daily life-threatening events. If a revived person dies again, Balance Weaver cannot be used to bring them back to life. Due to the disruption of the balance between life and death, using this skill to revive someone permanently reduces the user's luck by 1%.

Cooldown: Once per month.

(Note: Additional effects of Balance Weaver will unlock after the second level of Blood Assimilation.)

Balance Weaver was the skill Evan unlocked after completing the first level of Blood Assimilation in the Blood Dungeon by climbing the ten thousandth step of the Bloodline Inheritance Steps.

This skill granted him the ability to truly revive a dead person, though those revived would be subjected to life threatening events because of the curse of his Doom Bringer Bloodline.

When Evan first acquired the skill, he did not pay much attention to the curse associated with it, as he was focused on climbing higher on the Bloodline Inheritance Steps.

However, after hearing from the black figure that his Cursed One title was connected to his Bloodline and Race, he began to reflect deeply on the people he had close relationships with or had come into contact with and what happened with them after he came into contact with them... And when he carefully analysed everything, he finally identified a common link between them.
