Chapter 1270 Thanks For Always Being With Me (Part 3)
"Earlier, I told you I met your rival… do you remember?"
Anastasia's eyes narrowed upon hearing Evan's words, and she nodded her head.
Seeing her nod, Evan smiled slightly and spoke in a casual voice.
"Actually, the two Rank Six Core Evolvers defeated by Florita were sent by her."
Anastasia didn't say anything upon hearing this and continued to look at Evan, waiting for him to continue.
"They were subordinates of someone called the Insect Mother, and according to those rank six core evolvers, she is also a Progenitor."
Anastasia's expression shifted upon hearing the mention of the Insect Mother, and her mouth twitched slightly.
"Let me guess—she wanted to capture you so she could use you as a breeding tool."
Evan raised an eyebrow in surprise and asked curiously, "How do you know?"
"There is some information about other Progenitors in my bloodline," Anastasia replied, looking at Evan with a strange expression. "I know what kind of person she is…"
She paused for a moment, then continued with an amused look on her face.
"Why do you have such a happy look while talking about being captured by her? Could it be… you want to become a gig—"
"Stop!" Evan interrupted her with a dark expression. "I don't have any interest in becoming a gigolo. I was happy because I was imagining the scene of you chasing after that bitch."
"Oh!" Anastasia nodded her head with a sly smile. "I see... For a moment, I thought you'd acquired a special hobby during your time away."
Evan's mouth twitched when he heard Anastasia's words, and he looked at her with a blank expression.
Ignoring his reaction, Anastasia asked in a curious tone, "So, you are telling me about her because you want me to avenge you?"
"Well... I am sure I will be able to take her down myself in the future, but it will take some time. I told you just in case—if I don't have enough strength by the time we meet her face-to-face, you will have to handle her."
"I see..." Anastasia nodded and patted her chest confidently. "Don't worry, I will definitely protect your body."
Evan didn't know what to say upon hearing this and simply looked at her, speechless.
"You have really changed," Anastasia suddenly said in a low voice.
"Hm?" Although her voice was quiet, Evan, who was sitting beside her, heard her clearly.
"What do you mean?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
Anastasia gazed at the sky as if recalling old memories, then replied softly. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"Your personality used to be very... difficult. Even though we stayed together for thousands of years, you never shared your problems with me or anyone else. You always kept your distance from everyone. But now…" She turned to look at him and smiled. "Now, not only do you share your problems openly, but you also shamelessly ask for help."
Evan rolled his eyes when he heard Anastasia call him shameless.
"What is shameful about asking for help from your friends or close ones?"
"Indeed, there is nothing shameful about it," Anastasia nodded with a smile. "And I'm glad you think that way."
Evan, curious about what Anastasia had said earlier, asked.
"You said I—I mean, Azroth—used to be a stubborn bastard who never asked for help from anyone, not even from you. But didn't he ask you to stay in the Shadow Realm before he left? Doesn't that count as asking for help? After all, without you taking care of the Shadow Realm, I don't think he would have been able to do what he wanted to."
Anastasia shook her head when she heard Evan's question.
"On the surface, you asked me to stay in the Shadow Realm to take care of it. But in reality, the reason you asked me to stay there was because my core was damaged at the time. If I had wandered around Utopia without you, Akasha would have definitely attacked me," She explained. "So, while it seemed like you asked me to stay to manage the Shadow Realm, you were really trying to keep me safe from Akasha. If it hadn't been for my core, I don't think you would have asked me to stay there for thousands of years."
"Akasha..." Evan frowned at the mention of the name, but his expression soon relaxed.
'Well, she told me she doesn't plan to take revenge against her, but I will still need to make some arrangements in case that snake woman decides to act. I will need to be prepared,' Evan thought.
He knew Anastasia had been betrayed and seriously injured by Akasha.
Although he had asked Anastasia about what had happened between them, she had told him she no longer cared about that woman. As long as Akasha didn't come looking for trouble, Anastasia had no intention of doing anything to her. She had even told Evan to ignore her as well.
Evan glanced at Anastasia out of the corner of his eye and saw her gazing up at the sky.
'In all the memories I have awakened, I was either fighting, killing, or living lifelessly, with no desire to go on. The only exceptions are a few memories with her, where I wasn't just fighting or looking lifeless…'
As Evan reflected on this, he remembered the time before he left the Closed World of Dryads when Anastasia had jumped into his room at night.
He had stopped her because, before fully understanding the effects of his Cursed One Title, he didn't want to do anything that might put her in danger.
Even though she had assured him that her title could protect her from the curse, he hadn't been entirely sure.
'I am still not certain about all the effects of the Cursed One Title. But…'
"Mom, Dad, the food is ready! Come quickly, or I will eat everything by myself!" Elora's voice suddenly rang out as she came to inform them that Anastasia's essence clone had finished cooking.
Anastasia and Evan turned to see Elora running back after shouting her message.
Evan stood up and extended his hand to Anastasia. She grabbed his hand, and he pulled her to her feet.
"Let's go, or she really will eat everything by herse—" Anastasia said with a smile, but before she could finish, Evan leaned forward.
Anastasia felt a soft sensation on her lips, and for a moment, a look of confusion flashed across her face.
But she quickly realized what just happened, and her eyes widened.
Evan pulled back and looked at her with a warm smile.
"Thanks for always being with me."
