Chapter 202: The Nasty Portal
Chapter 202: The Nasty Portal
Bloom led them inside the dungeon with steady steps. He still held his bow and didn't replace it with his sword for now.
The dungeon was similar to other dungeons they cleared so far. It started with a long corridor that led to the first room.
"Strange," Jeffrey muttered, "I thought the dungeon would be filled with monsters to the brim."
His words were met with an agreement of everyone, but Bloom didn't comment. He knew this dungeon was special and so its rules might be different.
"Stay sharp," he said, "I'm going to take a glimpse of the situation inside first."
He then moved, so slow and careful while trying to get a glimpse of what was inside.
What he saw inside didn't like him, as there were many monsters and in the middle there was a portal.
"So?" Nara whispered, "have you seen what's inside?"
He nodded before saying when he returned to the team, "the monsters inside are in hundreds, and the room is slightly similar to the last hall in any dungeon."
"Does this mean this is the end of the dungeon?" one of the new players asked.
"No," Bloom shook his head, "this room is linked to another via another corridor."
"Then?" Nara asked.
"This is the special setting of these dungeons it seems," Bloom said before sighing, "and there is a central portal inside the hall."
"A portal?" many whispered while Nara asked: "Are we supposed to enter it?"
"Or perhaps seal it?" Jeffrey said.
"I frankly dunno," Bloom said while adding, "let's go inside and see by ourselves but I need you all to be extra cautious and be ready to execute all my orders to the letter."
They all nodded while he added, "I'll go inside first, then Jeffrey and the shade sons followed by weapon wielders and shield bearers."
He waited until they all nodded in agreement. "Those with purification skills will use them when I give the mark. Always keep an eye on the chat, and don't spam it with needless things for now."
His arrangement made everyone feel the pressure. "You are taking this as if you are really planning to clear the dungeon," one of the players joked and she glanced around, but no one stood on her side.
The next thing was for a sword to slash past her and the next instant she was stunned by Bloom's dash. Couple more hits and she died.
"I warned you before," he muttered, "I won't tolerate any filthy spy in my group."
He then turned around as he moved towards the opening of the hall, "Let's clear this dungeon together."
He knew there were a couple more hidden and smart agents for his enemies here. He didn't bother himself with looking for them, after all the secret to clear this dungeon lied mainly in his mysterious bow.
If no one had such a bow, then they wouldn't be able to clear any dungeon except by using many sacrifices and spending much time on trying.
The moment he stepped inside the hall, all the skeletons turned in unison to glance at him. "What a warm welcome this is," he laughed while he took out his bow and then launched a dozen fast arrows, turning twelve skeletons into his pets.
"Roar!"
Yet the next instant the other skeletons roared and started to smash these pets into pieces. This was brutal and those who came after Bloom were shocked to see this scene.
'Listen up, I'll divert their attention all the time by these skeletons and those with purification skills should use them over the others.'
He hurriedly sent into the team chat while he sent dozen more arrows to turn another batch into pets. He didn't aim towards the same place but scattered his arrows to different areas trying to create more chaos.
He could have just used his bow to clear the entire dungeon, but he would have to spend a lot of dark points in doing so. He also could have depended entirely on the players, but this would give his enemies the full tactic on silver plate.
"This is the best balanced solution for now," he muttered to himself while watching many skeletons smashing each other while at this moment the newly joined light daughters started to work.
"Sizzle."
"Sizzle."
"Sizzle."
The moment the purification skills were used upon the skeletons, the place started to be filled with such sounds. The damage coming on top of their heads was in thousands, and some even caused ten thousand damage per second.
"Amazing," Nara muttered from behind, "this way we can kill them all fast," she laughed yet just as she said these words, the portal instantly shook.
"Roar!"
Another batch of skeletons appeared to replace those who died just now. "Damn," he turned to her while sighing. "you jinxed us just now," he shouted at her.
"Stop it!" she had her face change for a moment before adding, "this way we can't overcome them."
Bloom didn't hurry to answer her as he glanced at the portal and suddenly he released fifty arrows at the skeletons surrounding it to create a big chaos there.
Then he stored his bow in his inventory, took out his two swords then muttered, "dash."
His sword wasn't pointing towards any monster, but towards the portal itself. The moment he did so his body was moved instantly, bypassing all the skeletons around and finally hitting the portal.
"15000"
This high damage came on top of it, but when that happened everyone managed to take a glimpse at the full Hp of this portal.
'Damn! It must have hundreds of thousands of Hp!' one player exclaimed in shock in the team chat.
'It's at least five hundred thousand Hp,' Jeffrey sent, 'If not more.'
Bloom couldn't refute their words and he just kept smashing the portal with his two swords and stab skill while ordering in the team chat:
'Keep them busy, and I'll try to crush this portal.'
'You need help!' Nara sent in the chat.
'No, I can handle this alone,' he said and the next second seventeen shadows appeared on his side. They were his clones and he just gave them a simple order, "Use your bows and turn the skeletons around into pets."
He knew his shadow clones would have half of his gear's abilities, but when he gave them such order they didn't move a muscle. "Don't tell me they can mimic only the gears I held outside the inventory when I summon them," this was the only explanation he had at the moment.
"Alright, give this damn portal everything you have," he changed his strategy while he took out his bow and started to hit more monsters all around, "don't let it stay a single moment without being stunned."
Seventeen clones were much more enough to create a perfect cycle of using dash skills without giving the portal a second to rest. Bloom then took the task of using his bow and defending the area around them tightly while creating some disturbance at different spots here.
The players of his team were faring well, and with time the number of skeletons falling on their hands increased and they started to have momentum against them.
The only problem that remained was this portal. "This it regenerates around one percent each five seconds this isn't good," Bloom muttered in frustration.
Even with the help of his clones, the portal only lost around twenty percent of its Hp in the time needed to clear the entire hall of skeletons.
This was mainly thanks to the arrows of Bloom, but this took roughly fifteen minutes. "We should all attack this portal," Jeffrey muttered when he came with the rest of the team.
"Yeah, this is going too slow," Nara said.
"I have no objection to extra skills," Bloom laughed and then all the players started to use their skills.
This accelerated the descent of the Hp of the portal. It needed thirty more minutes to reach below the twenty percent of its original Hp.
When this happened, Bloom had a sudden clench in his heart. He hurriedly turned around, but he couldn't find anything there.
"What's wrong?" Nara noticed the change in his face, and before he could say anything, his eyes finally caught a glimpse of what was coming at them.
"Damn!" he didn't have time to say anything while he hurriedly sheathed his swords and took out his bow and instantly released many arrows at once.
This attracted the attention of everyone here to turn and glance at the direction of his arrows. "What the hell" many players exclaimed in shock as right now many skeletons just appeared in a flood coming from the next hall.
"Keep screwing this b*tch," Bloom shouted before he turned to all the light daughters and added, "fire everything you have over these skeletons. We need to stop them now."
Bloom didn't know exactly what happened but he had a theory. Each monster had a supreme skill activated when their Hp decreased below the twenty percent threshold.
And this portal seemed to have a bizarre skill to call on reinforcements from the next hall, or even from the entire dungeon.
"I need to stop them there," he kept releasing his arrows but the bad news was that the previous response of the skeletons towards his bets vanished at this moment. "They are berserk," he muttered before shouting out loud, "all shield bearers form a strong defensive line around the portal, don't let a single skeleton cross you."
"I'll come to help," Jeffrey suddenly shouted.
"Stay right there, help me by destroying this damn portal to pieces faster," Bloom hurriedly yelled back while he kept his hands full to turn as many skeletons as possible into pets.
