Chapter 343 An Interesting War! The Last Boss Dies?
If Leo had one thing to say about war, it would be how interesting of an experience it was. He had gone on more than a dozen missions on the Sword Continent and had a few life and death pouts in murim, but there wasn't anything that was quite like what he was currently undergoing.
Although he was far from being a fan of bloodshed, the process itself was enlightening. At the very start, he was still a bit unsettled that he had to reason his way to calmness. However, as soon as the killing started, everything changed.
Swish!
This was unlike any other small wars he had undertaken in the past few years. Things weren't at Leo's grasp, and he didn't know how the finer details would proceed either. Other than the introduction that everyone witnessed, the novel gave its overview of the war from Geochin's perspective.
Yet, the more blood he drew, the more monsters surrounded him… The more excited Leo became. In reality, excitement was just a simplification of all the emotions and thoughts present when being so close to death.
Most importantly, this emotional unrest didn't provoke his suppressed emotions to wake up. Rather, it helped with holding them more strongly. In addition to Yeon being by his side, the grim exchanges of death seemed to turn into a fun activity.
"Fall back!"
Of course, Leo didn't lose himself at the edge. He wouldn't truly risk dying just to get a hit of adrenaline. It was just that he adapted to the battlefield much faster than he thought and he planned to use that to his advantage!
'Is this part of my nature or is this Yeon's buff?'
After clearing the enemies at immediate distance using the White Tiger, Leo pulled back with Yeon, exchanging the sword with the spear. The box that he had commissioned alongside the two weapons wasn't as complicated as the Infinity Sword Wheel, but it allowed him to carry everything without having his movements obstructed.
Swoosh!
Clean heart-piercing! There were many ways to use a spear, but Leo focused on thrusting and piercing. After they had killed enough of them, the manticores steered away from them, only for more stubborn monsters to dash at them in groups.
Lizardmen, oversized bats, basilisks. They were all tough-skinned monsters that piercing worked better with. However, their vitality was so strong that even piercing their hearts couldn't instantly kill them. Thankfully, Leo and Yeon's combo was there to counter that.
While she didn't train in anything other than the Eastern Blade, Yeon's Ten Thousand Blades synergized with the Black Heaven Jade to increase its length using energy, so she was able to slice necks even from a small distance away.
"Orabeoni, unni, we got the sides!"
Naturally, Sohee and Yong weren't that far away from them either. They first stood to the front next to them, but there was really no denying the compatibility of the team as a whole. With two spearheads and two wings on the side, the difficulty was almost lowered to the level of practice.
Regardless, Transcendent monsters were still annoying buggers. They were like cockroaches that refused to die. After testing out the Silver Dragon in action, Leo switched to the Mountain Splitter.
His Spearmanship still applied as long as he used the slim spearhead. On the other hand, using the axe to crush and split didn't require as much skill in a chaotic field like this!
'This was a good idea.'
Possessing the freedom to try different weapons helped a lot. In the end, just like Leo had read before, a halberd was most suited in wars like these. At the very least, it sufficed against the normal mob.
Though skin or endless vitality didn't matter. As long as Leo used its other end to deliver internal damage using the Yang Staff, or utilized the axe to keep slicing the enemy's body off, death was the only thing waiting for them at the end.
By the time Leo had tested the waters, the situation slightly stabilized. A stream of Martial Artists facing off a stream of monsters. Whoever managed to push the other would win eventually. The current state was much more simple than the confusing start.
Leo knew that all he needed to do was shave off more and more Transcendent monsters and he was doing just that. Not much time had passed, but the Earth Dragon that Cheon Chang and the other two were handling was almost turned into ground beef.
The Fist Lord's rampage always did a good job of turning internals into much, and his students made sure to blow a few brains out the same way. While blood covered all four, Yong was especially drenched that he looked worthy of his late Demon Dragon title.
Other Scarlet Sky Warriors weren't faring much worse either. Only the Peak or lower level mobs managed to get past them. However, that was completely intentional since they had to focus their attention on the monsters that actually deserved it.
"Hold on! Don't act individually!"
Unfortunately, things didn't work out that well for the Righteous Martial Artists. Most organizations brought a lot of cannon fodder, but the number of powerhouses thinned out as their strength went up. Although the number of organizations made up for it, their coordination was a mess.
Although Zhuge Gun's directions helped them escape being completely useless, their progress wasn't very swift. The monsters were starting to pile up around them.
"See? To resist is to suffer. You are supposed to be guardians, but you are nothing more than a harmful tumor sticking to this world."
The dragon flying in the sky was still not done blabbering its strange ideals and visions, despite being covered in injuries. This time, the Heavenly Demon didn't even bother answering this time. Instead, he propped up the greatsword that he made out of scarlet energy and took one last slash at the nosy dragon's neck.
"Long live the Society Leader!"
With his last head separated from the body, the Demon Lord's body quickly started to fall down at the Society members' cheers!
