Chapter 109
109 Chapter 108: Champion realm
“Master!” Kain and Kyle screamed as they gazed at the surging lightning with a frown.
Unlike normal necromancy, Damon’s death magic was leagues above that of his peers. Not only did it grant them an immortal body made of energy but they also retained their senses and memories. The only difference was that these beings were sired to him, thereby making them loyal no matter what.
“Don’t worry, Focus on navigating the bone forest, just make sure I remain hidden until the heaven’s tribulation is over!” Damon said coldly and the two bowed in response and vanished, leaving him all alone in the bone forest.
When Damon made this move he already considered the possibility of getting caught by Duke Hail and others. Right now he was showing his sincerity to the four great forces by not harming their forces and having his undead forces deal with the vampires hidden amongst their forces.
According to Kain, the four great forces were already surrounded by the full force of the blood clan which should be somewhere around eight hundred to nine hundred thousand in number. Out of that shocking number, there are at least a hundred thousand elites on the level of Kain and Kyle! Peak warrior realm foes and probably a few champion realm beings amongst them as well.
He planned to cooperate with the four great forces and win this war. No matter how it ends, he will only be strengthening himself and his undead army in the process. If the four great armies still dare to turn against him, then they shouldn’t blame him for being ruthless.
[Na?ve! Do you really think you will be accepted by these people just by helping them? Have you learned nothing from all you have been told?] Death bellowed, displaying his full anger directed at Damon.
This is their last chance to train the final batch of new gods. If this fails then it’s all over for this god vein they live in! How can he be so inconsiderate and doom himself to his selfish desires?
“The previous hosts have been hiding, running, and begging for acceptance.... Sol died as Klien’s sister tried to hide her identity while cozying up to the enemy. A foolish move indeed” Damon stated calmly as he felt the changes occurring in his body.
.....
His magic circuits were currently surging with power, threatening to explode!
[What do you have in mind then?] Death seemed a bit calmer now.
“I will not only show sincerity or just strength like the others did. I will show both sincerity and strength! Show them you mean well, but in the process also show them your overwhelming power and have them understand you will not be an easy foe. That should dissuade them from taking action directly!” Damon said calmly with his eyes still shut tight.
He could feel the ground within the bone forest constantly changing positions and he instantly knew it was Kain’s doing. Doing this will help keep him indefinitely hidden unless someone capable of destroying the entire bone forest appears, he has nothing to fear.
Kain was doing a good job keeping him hidden.
[By showing sincerity and strength, all those defeated in battle will also become a part of your army and power. It’s a win-win situation but what if they refuse your sincerity and band together to take your life? Have you considered such a possibility?] Death asked in a thoughtful tone.
“Then they will find out that Damon is not someone that can be killed easily!” Damon said with an icy gaze as he turned his attention to the lightning gathering above to form one massive ball of lightning!
Even Damon who was calm earlier felt a tinge of fear in his heart! This heavens tribulation was just too frightening but he could understand why. He was the death mage wielding the powers of darkness, chaos, and destruction! In a normal circumstance, that won’t be enough to gain the attention of the world, but now it was different.
He had the evil arts and still gained the curse of the supernatural guardians becoming an invincible werewolf and not just any werewolf but a lone wolf. Such incredible luck to be blessed with such power comes with great disaster as well.
Nature will always find its way of balancing things out!
Bang!
The world trembled as the massive ball of lightning began descending. In fact, all those who planned on investigating the bone forest were now too terrified to approach and many began running as far away as they could from the location!
Boom!
Damon’s figure was clearly illuminated within the bone forest as the large sphere of lightning big enough to cover the entire bone forest crashed into Damon!
...................
“What the hell?” a warrior realm soldier cried in fear. Even he had seen the heavens tribulation happen before and the cultivator was killed by it. That tribulation that terrified him back then looked like child’s play when compared to the one that happened right now. They all refused to believe that whoever was there survived!
With the tribulation, they would have loved to investigate but there were at least ten thousand undead soldiers surrounding that area, and no one could get close enough. Whoever is controlling these undead beings is unwilling to let anyone get close.
It had become obvious!
...................
Blegh!
Damon spat out a mouthful of blood as he dragged his naked body across the ground with a very weak look in his eyes. Not only was his body surrounded by burn wounds but even his hair was completely burnt away, not even his clothes were spared, leaving him completely naked!
Damon’s limbs were hanging loosely and a deadly hole in his chest. He laid on his back alone in the five-meter-deep crater created by the heaven’s tribulation and tried to control his breathing. He could feel his wounds healing but it was far slower than usual. The injuries dealt by the heaven’s tribulation could not be easily dealt with.
While his healing was taking place, Damon remained silent and with his eyes closed, he began inspecting his body to find out more about the benefits that came with his new cultivation base. Right now he could be considered one of the peak individuals on the continent, only second to the spirit realm old monsters still alive. The people he had to fear in this continent can be counted with two fingers at most!
With his eyes, shut tight, Damon found himself in a dark world where light cannot exist. He wasn’t sure what it was exactly but he knew one thing for sure!
He would be able to meet Death again since they can only meet in such situations.
“Since you know I am here, there is no need for formalities. Let’s go through the process as fast as possible! There is no time to waste!” Death slowly appeared from the darkness, in his usual black attire and two pairs of black angelic wings.
“Okay” Damon nodded casually, not showing many reactions.
“An anomaly is the next level of strength for a cultivator. The ability to infuse all of a person’s power, experience, and technique to create the perfect environment which will grant you an absolute advantage in battle” Death said.
“If that’s the case, then, doesn’t that mean it didn’t matter how long I tried to keep the secret hidden, it would have been exposed the moment I made it into the champion realm and used my anomaly,” Damon said with a frown and Death nodded with a loud sigh.
“That was why I hoped you will side with the blood clan where it’s safe until you reach the spirit realm and can challenge the world’s greatest experts” Death said.
“You saw the ambition of the blood clan and their intentions of annihilating every being on this continent. If I were to do such a thing, this god vein wouldn’t be worth saving if it only has blood-sucking beasts roaming and rearing humans, and beings of other races like cattle. I am sure that is not what you wish this world to look like” Damon said calmly.
“But...” Death frowned. He was torn on what was far more important now, Damon’s safety in the state of the world.
“Don’t you forget that I am the only one they seek... If I had joined them then all the other guardian spirit hosts would be killed in that war... regardless, I will be the only one growing, and when that time comes, do you think I can deal with the old gods alone?” Damon asked and once again Death was too embarrassed to respond.
Everything Damon had stated so far was true. It had been too focused on his safety and failed to consider other factors. Damon knew this so he didn’t necessarily blame the guardian spirit. These were desperate times! Mistakes were not uncommon!
“I...” Death mumbled but Damon waved his hand casually in response.
“Don’t bother, everyone makes mistakes, you are no exception” Damon said.
“We are guardian spirits, we are meant to be perfect” Death muttered.
“Hmph! Perfection to me simply means no room for growth! Stagnation! Stagnation is worse than death... You should be happy you are not perfect!” Damon rebuked the mighty spirit like a father scolding a son!
