Chapter 143
143 Chapter 142: The war begins
“He got hurt, this is the right time to strike!” Isabella said with a fierce look in her eyes but Crystal and Diana remained silent as they pondered.
Their eyes gazed at the latter carrying all the information with hints of anxiety in them. They weren’t sure if this was true or false.
“What did you see?” Diana finally looked up to meet Elsa’s gaze.
Elsa remained silent and stretched her hand over to the moon deity host with her eyes surging brightly with green light.
Pa!
The moment Diana touched her, she found herself on a battlefield with no corpses, no weapons, just dust. Damon and King Dormus launched a final attack fiercely at each other and while Damon’s death scythe penetrated his chest, spreading the decaying aura through his body, the mighty lightning axe of the king struck his chest and countless bolts of Lightning rained down on him relentlessly.
Upon hitting him countless times even Damon with his immortal body could not hold on anymore and collapse. The next thing she saw was Gin and Cyrus carrying him as they retreated to the blood mountain in panic.
It was an unexpected end!
Huff!
.....
Diana let go as she exhaled deeply with a frown on her face. The anxiety in her eyes was gone and was replaced with resolve. She looked into the eyes of the elf queen and without hesitation, she spoke.
“We March to the blood mountain now! Before the death mage recovers!” Diana said with confidence and vigor.
..............
Meanwhile in the human camp...
“King Dormus lost to that brat?” The son of heaven muttered with real shock in his eyes.
As one of the four monarchs of the continent, he had traded blows with the leader of the dwarf race and he had to confess, apart from the orc king, no one else could compare to that man.
To hear Damon was able to defeat such a man, a hint of respect appeared in the king’s eye as well as fierce killing intentions.
Right now he fully recognized Damon was a worthy opponent and he planned on treating him like one.
“I have a lot on my mind but I must confess even if Damon got hurt, isn’t it a bit too strange? I fear this may be a trap” Pope Light said with a frown.
With the main forces of Gyro gone, leaving behind only the crown prince, Gerald, and arch Mage Kratos to defend the kingdom, he wasn’t ready to make moves impulsively.
In his opinion, this major loss the Grimhold kingdom had suffered would disrupt their position as one of the four great kingdoms of the continent. Once they are done dealing with Damon, the three surviving kingdoms will set their sights on it.
He didn’t want the gyro Kingdom to suffer such a fate as well.
“I agree...” Duke Hail said with a deep frown.
“Out of all the four kingdoms, why did he pick the dwarves?” Duke Hail asked with suspicion in his eyes.
“Probably because they do not have a cosmic spirit host in their midst. They were the easiest target amongst the four” Kaido of the sun god, who was seated at a lonely corner in the room said with a frown on his face.
“The dwarves are not the only ones lacking a cosmic spirit host...” Pope Light said with a frown.
Thud!
The sound of a thumb striking the wooden armchair caused silence to spread across the room and the son of heaven turned his attention to Pope Light and a cruel smile bloomed on his face.
“Do you really think the orc army is weaker than ours because they lack a cosmic spirit host? Hahahaha! Naive old man... It seems time has made you forget the strength of the orcs which made even the heavens tremble!” The son of heaven said as he closed his eyes as if he was trying to push away the images invading his mind.
Fright, rage, and various emotions could be seen surging through his face and after a while, he finally opened his eyes.
“Back then it took the joint forces of the humans, elves, and dwarfs to keep them at bay. Do not forget the lizardmen who were wiped out by these people or have you forgotten there were originally five great kingdoms in this continent?” The son of heaven finally opened his eyes as he spoke the final sentence.
His eyes were cold and fierce as he looked into the distance.
“Have everyone move out! Since the elves and Orcs have made their moves, we have no choice but to march forwards tirelessly as well or we will become the laughingstock of the continent from cowering in fear when victory was just at our doorstep!” The son of heaven declared and everyone bowed except Kaido.
“Hmph! Not bad old man... I’m beginning to like your style” Kaido said with a cruel smile as he got to his feet and walked out of the tent.
In this war, he will definitely wash away the shame Damon had put on him!
......
A journey meant to be completed in a week was done in three days. On the morning of the fourth day, the combined forces of the three great nations arrived, surrounding the blood mountain. Their cold gaze was pinned at the peak of the mountain where they saw two figures standing with flowing fiercest eyes and long fluttering hair.
“To think you all would dare show here, what happened? Life got boring?” Gin’s voice boomed and a cruel smile bloomed on his face.
Meanwhile, Cyrus snorted disdainfully as his hateful gaze was pinned on one man among the hundreds of thousands of people gathered here.
Pope Light!
“Old man... For no reason, you took the life of the man I once called brother... now you plan to take mine as well... How many of your grandsons do you plan to kill for the sake of this kingdom?” Cyrus growled with hatred.
Pope Light simply shot him an empty glance and said nothing, he waved his hand and his hundred thousand strong forces from the holy church began marching forward.
As the wielders of the light magic, they were the ones tasked with decimating the undead forces of the death mage by the three kingdoms. Since Damon is gravely injured, the importance of the role they have to play now has tripled.
“Call out your forces of the dead and let’s do battle and get this over with. I have better things to do back home” Pope light gazed at the two figures above the blood mountain but in response these two only laughed hysterically.
“Call them out? To deal with a small fry like the holy church? I ALONE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH!” Cyrus bellowed as his body shot down the mountain while his body radiated with intense golden light.
Seeing Cyrus charge down alone while Gin stayed behind with a strange look in his eyes these people were elated.
“So the rumors were true... the death mage has been gravely injured!” Pope Light’s eyes revealed a savage light.
Bang!
The leader of the holy church shot into the air, shooting towards the young life guardian spirit host. If Cyrus had the power to hurt Kaido and battle Brandon Bloodhammer, then he definitely would be strong enough to deal enough damage to any army that comes his way.
Why waste good men when he can deal with his grandson alone?
By the way, if there was a trap hidden, his chances of escaping would be higher when alone than when leading an army.
“Let me take his head, your majesty!” Pope Light’s voice boomed as his figure shot towards Cyrus with killing intentions in his eyes.
Even now he wouldn’t hesitate to kill his grandson!
The other forces of the three kingdoms remained silent and watched. Whether Pope Light won or lost they had nothing to lose. In their opinion, this was a family matter and it was important to let these two resolve it with their fists.
“After the horrors of the hosts, I saw in my youthful days, even if the host is my own blood and flesh I will remove him or her from this world without hesitation!” Pope Light growled as his body let out a bright flash while the world around him began to tremble.
Seeing it all the Knights of light under his command fell on their knees with their heads lowered. No one would have expected the pope would dare use his pathway right away from the beginning of the fight. He must be taking this battle seriously to have done this!
“Hmph! Kill me? You don’t have what it takes!” Cyrus growled coldly as his body lit up with a bright golden light far fiercer than that of the Pope!
At this moment two golden lights burned brightly in the air, hiding the figures of the two combatants as they prepared to throw their all into this fight.
This was a grudge that can only be settled with the death of one!
