Chapter 60
60 Chapter 59: Goddess Lu
Even before he could explain, Damon got jumped by Gin and Cyrus who threw flurries of punches at him! Only Klien walked into the room like any other normal human being and shut the door before taking a seat and watching as the three exchanged blows on the floor.
To think Gin and Cyrus couldn’t completely overpower Damon, it was may have been a playful event but Klien could tell Cyrus and Gin had to put in all their physical strength just to keep Damon who was holding back down
The physical boosts gained by a werewolf were not something that can be looked down on. Klien inwardly reevaluated his understanding of these supernatural beasts Damon spoke of.
After a short time everyone settled down and Damon freshened up and changed clothes before they headed straight for the cafeteria. While eating together, Damon didn’t hesitate to explain everything that happened, leaving out no details. He wore a stern look on his face as he revealed Lucy’s true identity to his group and explained why she slept in his room.
Hearing him speak even the indifferent Klien showed signs of shock on his face. He didn’t think that something like this was even possible nor did he expect that all these things would happen in just a night.
They slept through all of it!
When Damon told them about the plans of the fox spirits, they were shocked and terrified. Anyone would have fallen for that trick including them. If they find themselves in such a situation, would they have any chances of escaping without someone like Damon who has supernatural senses?
“What happened to the bodies?” Klien asked with a frown.
“Aren’t you scared that the Arch mage would find out about it and act?” Cyrus was completely confused by Damon’s intentions of leaving those dried up corpses.
.....
“If the Arch mage finds it, the school security will tighten making it harder for the fox spirits and other supernatural beings to operate in the academy... Why would they want that?” Gin answered and Damon nodded in agreement.
Amongst the four of them Damon may be considered the strongest based on his werewolf perks adding to his identity as a host but Gin was by far the smartest. This person was so cunning it was almost impossible to see through. Even Damon felt wary of him, especially since his eyes are always closed and he has a smile on his face, making him wonder how the youth is able to see in the first place.
Strangely enough, Damon just realized that people rarely pay attention to Gin especially ignoring the fact that his eyes are always closed. Is this a coincidence or is he just overthinking things?
After pondering on it for a while, Damon pushed the matter aside and focused. One thing he has lent over his few months in this Academy was that this world is far more dangerous than it seems, the less you know the easier life is for you. Anything outside that would make life more difficult.
If Gin has never brought this up for them to discuss then he had no business looking into it behind his back.
“But who would have thought goddess Lu is a basilisk” Cyrus said with a slight frown.
“I know right? That is something no one is aware of or even expects, especially since she is someone who is very outgoing and showcases herself in public a lot. This is strange because supernatural beings are always secretive about their activities and keep a low profile.
“The fact she does this is extremely smart because no one would suspect her to have some hidden secret with such kind of behavior... I must say, she is pretty smart” Damon said with a frown as he pondered on the matter.
As someone who has solely focused on his cultivation since he entered this Academy, he knew too little about things happening in the academy and the people involved. If other members of the chosen outside the four of them and Lucy were to walk past him now, he wouldn’t be able to recognize them.
That was how distant, Damon was from the academy life which involves parties, popularity, and more.
“Why is she called Goddess Lu?” Damon couldn’t help but ask. Gin and Cyrus have been using that name so much that he couldn’t ignore it anymore.
Hearing the question, Gin and Cyrus gazed at Damon as if they were looking at some sort of alien. Who in the academy didn’t know about goddess Lu? Even when Damon swore on his life that he only knew about her yesterday, they all wanted to go crazy!
Even the indifferent Klien knew about her!
“You seriously know nothing about her?” Gin asked with a rare stern look on his face.
This is a facial expression he only showed when they were ambushed by the Vincent family duo. To think he would use the same facial expression when talking about a mere student of their academy.
“Outside the fact that Goddess Lu is famed for her beauty, her strength is not something that can be looked down on! During this Warring period between the fighter and magic academies, Goddess Lu is single-handedly responsible for the death of over twenty fighter students. She once took down a team of five alone and she relied on just her magic!” Cyrus said!
Hearing this, even the indifferent Damon shivered in shock. Out of everyone seated at this table, no one was more familiar than him when it comes to matters concerning fighters. He knew the advantage fighters held over mages at this early stage so hearing that Lucy only used her magic to kill five fighters was quite shocking!
If put in the same situation, he wasn’t sure he would be able to do the same.
Thinking about this, Damon soon realized he didn’t get to see her fight so he had no clue how strong she was. Thinking that he dedicated all that time trying to protect someone that strong and that made him blush due to embarrassment.
“Why didn’t you kill her or at least inform the arch mage about her?” Klien suddenly asked the question Damon refused to ask himself.
The entire room went silent since they are the only ones in the cafeteria. The other chosen usually have their meals delivered to their room so only Damon’s group use this place.
“Yea, I would also like to know why you didn’t kill me?” A seductive voice echoed from behind the moment Damon opened his lips to answer.
They all turned to see Lucy in a tight black and green sleeveless gown with a serpent design. Her massive bosoms stood out, drawing the attention of even the cold-hearted Klien. While the others unconsciously stared at her bosoms, Damon instinctively gazed at her lips before turning red and looking away.
His actions didn’t go unnoticed which made everyone in the room want to laugh but they weren’t in the mood to laugh right now. The lady overhears their conversation and the lady is a powerful supernatural being. They saw no reason to be happy!
“At ease everyone.” Lucy said casually as she sat next to Damon with a bright look on her face.
She didn’t seem troubled by their previous discussion or anything so she first took a piece of steak and ate out of it before she continued talking.
“I have been watching you all and knowing how close you guys are it wasn’t surprising that you would keep little secrets from each other. I don’t know what it is but you four are bound by something far thicker than blood” Lucy said casually.
“How?” Cyrus wanted to ask but was cut off.
“Instincts of a serpent” Lucy explained nonchalantly before cutting a piece of steak and trying to feed Damon who refused by turning his face away which made her and the others laugh. They have never seen Damon act this way.
It was unusual for the calm and strong Damon to be caught flustered and confused!
“So tell me, why didn’t you kill me? You could have at least let the arch mage know” Lucy asked while leaning toward him.
“Because I couldn’t okay? You were born with this and didn’t get it midway as I did. I can’t blame you for who you are or what you are since it was never your choice. If I go around killing everyone who was born with supernatural powers without a reason wouldn’t that make me a murderer?” Damon asked with a raised eyebrow.
While many wouldn’t believe it he was sincere. It’s just like killing the son of a dictator who is too young to know what’s going on. You can kill a problem and while it may be effective to deal with it from the root, sometimes you can’t blame people for what they are.
Lucy hasn’t given him any reason to kill her so he wouldn’t.
His voice may have been a bit shaky because of the embarrassment he felt but his eyes revealed how serious he was. The only one who can murder others without reason is the royal family and the crazy nobles. Those are the people he wishes to fight against!
