Chapter 64 - On One Condition
"I said put your guns down!" Eron shouted, shocking the other men who fell from the sky.
You just got punched for the second time. He clearly doesn't want to join, shouldn't we just kill him?
Teren punched Eron again. There was not much force behind it but the latter was thrown onto the ground.
"If you put your guns up again, I will kill you!" Eron shouted at the other men.
Teren raised an eyebrow and was amused. He raised his other foot and stomped on Eron.
"That's Eron Merze, you bastard, the third brother of the Drago's big boss!"
Bang*
One of them pulled the trigger which hit Teren's head.
"I hit hi-!"
When the one who shot Teren was about to celebrate, he felt something entered his back.
"Eron, let me do the killing for you." Teren's voice sounded which the others saw him when the man who got stabbed fell onto the ground.
"What!? But you just got shot!" the second man raised his gun but before he could pull the trigger, a knife was embedded on his forehead.
"What's happening!?" another one raised his gun.
Eron just palmed his face when he saw this.
Shick* that sound was enough to let him know that another just died.
"Huh!? W-wait! I'm not raising my gun!" the last of four pleaded.
But when he saw Teren's lifeless stare at him, he turned around and jumped. This jump, however, is far from ordinary. Instead of falling down the next second, this man just kept going up as if he was flying!
"Idiot! Put on your hood first!" Eron shouted but before this man could fly off, he fell onto the ground, "Huh?"
"Drago House, you're the ones who're mass-producing Spirit of Flight, right? Even a Spirit-Embedded Clothes... the world is really advancing both secular and spirit." Teren appeared before the last man who died.
Hearing their secret from an outsider's mouth, Eron froze. But after reminding himself that in front of him was the so-called "Devil Himself", he calmed himself.
"... weak." Teren muttered, "You're the first ones to come here since you're the fastest... Tell me, is my location already disclosed to all of you?" his eyes rolled towards Eron.
Eron sat like a Japanese person in fear that he may look disrespectful. He was about to answer but Teren cut in.
"Actually, it's already obvious."
'It must be her...' Teren thought, 'But why would she spread the information?'
Finding no answer to that question, he walked towards Eron.
"Why persistent about it?"
With Teren's eyes that had seen hundreds of deaths by his own hands looking at Eron, the latter couldn't help but shiver in fright.
"Sir Devil H-"
"Just call me Teren."
"Sir Teren, we know that we cannot kill you. If we can, then you would've already died back then at the Central."
Eron was about to continue but saw the irritation on Teren's face.
"The Central... you mean the Central Pacific Isle?"
Although Teren asked that, he already knew that answer.
'I never thought that I would hear it again right after I regained some of my memories...'
"Y-yes..." noticing that Teren doesn't like that topic, Eron left it at that and continued, "We cannot kill you so we want to recruit you. We, at the Drago House, have always gained control of the sky because of our Spirits of Flight. However, even though we are in the sky, we have stayed unknown to the secular world. If you joined us, we will be able to hide, Sir Teren."
Teren shook his head, "Wrong answer."
A bead of sweat dripped from Eron's forehead. Teren was asking about why they were persistent in recruiting him, not why Teren would want to join.
"I would like to be honest, Sir Teren but I know that it wouldn't affect you in any way. However, I can confidently say that we need you to win the next Spirit War and get a certain Great Spirit."
"A Great Spirit, you think that's easy to obtain?" Teren then leaned on one wall.
"No, Sir Teren, that is why we are asking you. Winning the Spirit War, we have a chance. However, getting a specific Great Spirit is another matter. We are all aware that you have been there at least once if not multiple times."
Eron said with an emotional voice.
"Hm," Teren nodded, "I see, so you want to get the Great Spirit of Healing to save your elder brother's life from a poison?"
"Wha-!?" Eron's eyes widened behind his sunglasses when he heard Teren's accurate words, "How did you know!?"
"A guess? Also because your main enemy among the other four houses is the Serpen House who specializes in poison. But really, it's just a guess."
Teren casually said, making Eron's face heavy.
"So that's why you can't say it because you know I'm not a person who takes sympathy. Also, if I learned it, there's a chance that I may spread it, making your rivaling house aggressive in your times of weakness."
Just like that, it was as if Eron's head was an open book to Teren.
"But don't worry, I don't take sympathy but I don't meddle as well. It's not like I want to hide it but I don't want to talk about it either..."
Eron's face lightened from this but the frown returned when he heard Teren's next words.
"Unless necessary, that is."
"..." Eron gritted his teeth.
Their plan was to try and recruit Teren but not only did it fail, their secret was also out too!
"W-what do you want in exchange?"
Eron asked.
"No, no, I'm not blackmailing you." Teren waved his hand, "Instead, I'm going to help you get that Great Spirit of Healing."
"Huh...?"
Teren's sudden statement rendered Eron speechless.
"On one condition... your house is going to help me deflect all the incoming houses."
"But... but that's impossible!"
Eron quickly denied Teren's condition. There were four more houses that, if not stronger than them, are as strong as they are!
"I thought you're going to hide again since your information is out?"
"... hmm, let's just say I'm done hiding."
Teren muttered with serious expression.
