Chapter 149: Divine Wrath
Overwhelmed by the ferocious wolves' offense, Zhao Kai gritted his teeth and decided to confront them head-on.
He was still a Gun Knight at the end of the day, so his defense was fairly high.
Not to mention, he had many health potions that he bought from the NPC market.
"Let's see who will die first." Zhao Kai sneered, retrieving a small pistol, and began shooting at the wolf, ignoring their swipe and bite.
As much as he wanted to pay attention to Xu Feng's situation, he could not afford to continuously be a burden.
While Zhao Kai was still feeling guilty about the situation, Xu Feng was currently being attacked in all directions. The moment he dodged or retaliated against one, his other sides would be exposed.
'Their agility is definitely quicker than those drakes. Even being drugged didn't dampen much of their agility.' Xu Feng thought to himself, taking a bit of damage from the younger wolves.
There was only so much space left for him to dodge. Additionally, the wolves were all agitated, with none of them caring much for their lives.
"It seems like I might really have my first death here." Xu Feng smiled bitterly, healing himself while swinging his staff to knock back another wolf.
In the meantime, his other hand was bitten by another wolf, its teeth gnawing deeply into his flesh.
Blood seeped from the wound, but Xu Feng endured the pain and remained composed. He quickly swung his arm left and right, hoping to throw the wolf off.
Given that the wolf was still under the drug effect, Xu Feng was able to throw them off after another few seconds.
Once that was done, he quickly cast Heal, feeling the warmth of the spell knitting his torn flesh together.
By using heal immediately, Xu Feng essentially was putting it on cooldown while maintaining his health point at a certain range.
After all, the lower his health points became, the more fervor the wolves were going to be. Hence, he could not afford to let the situation fester into that possibility.
'How unfortunate that I have to clean up the mess in the end.' Xu Feng sighed inwardly, gripping his staff tightly and activating one of the hidden effects of the Baptism.
A surge of energy coursed through his body as one of the hidden Baptism effects, Divine Wrath, activated.
For a brief moment, a radiant light enveloped Xu Feng, and his eyes glowed with an intense, otherworldly power. This effect could enhance a player's combat prowess tremendously, albeit for a limited time.

The wolves around Xu Feng faltered, their instincts screaming at them to flee from the sudden manifestation of power. The supposed leader was practically trembling in their limbs, given that it was facing the full pressure from Xu Feng.
"Don't falter now that you made use of one of these." Xu Feng eyed the leader fiercely. "Because of you all, I'm going to receive an intense backlash after 2 minutes."
As he finished the statement, Xu Feng, now a beacon of divine energy, moved with blinding speed. His staff was infused with newfound strength and became a blur as he struck down the wolves with precise, devastating blows.
Xu Feng's attacks were now obliterating the wolves, their ferocity no match for the divine onslaught. Each swing of his staff sent multiple wolves flying, their yelps of pain echoing in the chaos.
"Howl!!" The supposed leader howled in a sign of distress, seemingly signaling for a retreat. Their will to fight had been completely quenched by the Divine Wrath's effect.
The Aura of Fear, added to their being drugged, overwhelmed them completely to the point of giving up and trying to run for their lives.
"Heh, did you think I'll let you all run?" Xu Feng sneered. With his increased speed, Xu Feng danced around the battlefield, catching those who attempted to run and evading their pitiful attacks that served none other than distractions.
As the situation quickly turned around with the wolves now in peril, the leader of the pack, still groggy from the drugs and intimidated, mustered up their courage.
Its fierce determination compelled it to protect its pack, prompting it to do a desperate lunge at Xu Feng, hoping to buy time for the others to escape.
Xu Feng swiftly understood the leader's intention and respected its choice.
However, respecting and allowing it to succeed were two different matters.
He sidestepped with ease, evading the lunge and delivering a crushing blow to the leader's side.
The powerful strike sent the leader crashing to the ground, unable to rise. Not only was the strike powerful, but Xu Feng's precision landed directly on the critical flesh points.
Sometime later, as the timer for the Divine Wrath ticked down, Xu Feng continued his relentless assault, his divine-enhanced strikes decimating the remaining wolves.
"Is this really the Feng I know?" Zhao Kai, who was finally freed from his predicament, noticed the tremendous change from Xu Feng.
He was left completely aghast when he saw the fluid movement and attacks from Xu Feng. Each one of the strikes outright killed a wolf or sent them into a disabled state.
What astounded him dearly was that he felt his body turning heavy.
It was as if he couldn't move as soon as his eyes looked at the current Xu Feng. There was an indescribable feeling of fear he got.
'Why do I feel afraid of Feng?' Zhao Kai wondered silently. For Xu Feng who had assisted him throughout this time, he found it baffling that he would be afraid of him.
Thankfully, his feeling of fear seemed to last a few seconds later as it swiftly vanished into thin air.
"Feng!" Zhao Kai quickly called out in panic when he saw Xu Feng collapsing to the ground after catching the last wolf in the pack.
