Chapter 274: Guild Emblem
Initially, Xu Feng thought his subtle revelation of ability would impress Carmen, but never once did he expect the latter to mistake him for a developer or an admin.
Honestly, he wished that were true, but that was not the case.
"No, but if I was the developer, do you think the Reaver Guild could continue to exist?" Xu Feng shook his head and laughed.
"True… if you were, then the Reaver Guild would have been disbanded." Carmen nodded, finding her previous question to be illogical.
No one knew who the developer or admin of the Divine World was.
However, that didn’t dampen the popularity of the game whatsoever.
In fact, the Divine World was already the most talked about in almost every place.
This was due to its frightening immersion and the feeling of being able to live in another world— a second chance was what most dubbed the experience to be.
"Anyway, are you going to accept the guild invitation? It’s getting somewhat cold now." Xu Feng calmly reminded her.
"Are you not going to request me to sign any contract before joining officially?" Carmen asked, recalling her previous experience when dealing with guilds’ invitations.
"Do you want to sign one?" Xu Feng responded with a question of his own.
Without hesitation, she shook her head, clearly unwilling to be bound by any contract or restriction when playing the Divine World.
She came here to have fun and enjoy, not work like a corporate slave.
"Then there’s your answer." Xu Feng smiled, not planning on forcing her to sign any contract or restrictions.
The game was still in its early stages, and he trusted her enough to not implement a contract. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have spent so much effort to finally have her accepted to join his guild.
Shortly after accepting the guild invitation sent by Xu Feng, Carmen received a notification.
System: You have joined the Vanguard guild! Guild features and functions are now unlocked! Good luck with your new adventure with the guild!
The moment Carmen became a guild member of Vanguard, she unlocked numerous features and functions that were previously hidden.
After all, these were the so-called perks and benefits of joining a guild.
Apart from a 5% increase in stats when they are near guild members, there were things that one could exchange for using their Guild Merit Points, GMP.
GMP could be earned through missions assigned by the guild, exchanged with some coins, or rewarded by the guild leader.
Of course, there would be more methods later on in the future, but this was about it for a newly established guild.
Ignoring this complicated process for now, Carmen went to her inventory and checked on the guild emblem.
The Vanguard guild emblem featured a modern crest shape with a stylized cyclone spiraling inward, symbolizing dynamic force and leadership.
Overlaying the cyclone was a prominent staff, adorned with some runes to represent authority and wisdom. The emblem had a clean, bold border to emphasize strength and authority.
The primary color was deep navy blue, while vibrant turquoise and electric blue highlighted the cyclone and staff. Additional details included stylized waves within the cyclone to convey motion and depth, and a subtle pattern in the background to enhance the central elements.
"This is quite the detailed emblem," Carmen commented, equipping the emblem near her top left chest.
All guild emblems varied in terms of design, such as how the Reaver Guild used a scythe-like symbol to represent themselves.
"But why is there a staff in the middle of the cyclone?" She questioned.
In her mind, there could be many other weapons that were available to choose from. Yet Xu Feng chose a staff.
Was it because his class used a staff?
Meanwhile, Xu Feng calmly smiled and said, "A staff is chosen because it reminds me of the famous Monkey King. Starting out with nothing since he was born out of a rock, the Monkey King became famous everywhere with his unique staff, Ruyi Jingu Bang."
Startled, Carmen began to understand his underlying meaning.
After all, when she checked the list of guild members. Other than Xu Feng as the guild leader, there was only her.
In other words, they were legit starting with nothing, and the staff could be a representation that they would clear through all obstacles in its path.
"I didn’t expect you to put so much thought on a guild emblem." She smiled lightly.
"A guild emblem is going to be the symbol for everyone to remember in the future. Of course, I can’t be half-hearted about it." Xu Feng chuckled.
"Then why aren’t you wearing your emblem?"
"Ah, that’s because I want to remain incognito for a while."
"..."
Subconsciously, Carmen lowered her head slightly, her eyes gazing at the emblem she equipped. Now she was wondering if she should hide it instead of wearing one.
Since she was still green in the world of virtual reality games, she thought all guild members wore their guild emblem.
Alas, it was just a shame that she couldn’t even continue her thought process due to the Apprentice blacksmith finishing the enchantments.
"Boss, the enchantment has been completed." The blacksmith reported to Xu Feng while returning the equipment to Carmen.
"Nice, you may do your own work then," Xu Feng clasped his hands, praising the blacksmith.
"Yes, boss, I will not disappoint your expectations." Gleeful, the blacksmith promptly returned to his station and began studying his own thing.
Meanwhile, Carmen was completely stunned on the spot. Her eyes were glued to the enchanted equipment and the Tier 1 Stamina Gemstone.
Previously, she had been too distracted to attempt to reject his goodwill, so she failed to understand what the enchantment and gemstone were going to be.
However, now that she got a clear look at the attributes and effects, she was stupefied.
’Isn’t this like a mega power-up?’ She inwardly exclaimed, wondering just how much the fee was going to be.
She turned around and looked at Xu Feng, "How much do I have to pay?"
"You’re asking about the price and not truly wanting to pay, right?" Xu Feng mused, exposing her inner thoughts.
"Yes…"
