Chapter 236: Third World: Weird DNA Test Results
Because the team had dallied too long in Black Oasis , it was time to set off. After some listless arguing, it was decided that Feng Zi, Airen, Feng Xieling, Zhao Huangzhi, Qie Ranzhe, Qie Guaiwu and her assistant would be travelling in the military mobile home. From the outside, the army green mobile home seemed small which was only an illusion because the vehicle was impressively spacious inside.
This mobile home was of Qie Ranzhe's own design as he travelled a lot in the past mainly because he was hunting down a certain someone. With his black suv leading the convoy, this was how Qie Ranzhe trekked across the country. But this time it was different as his harmonious mobile home seemed crowded. He didn't mind Feng Zi and Feng Xieling hitching a ride but the rest could follow behind on foot for all he cared. That had him in a bad mood especially when Feng Zi was meant to be pursuing him but how was he supposed to do that with so many people around? He couldn't help but find this situation troublesome.
While the General was wearing a stone cold face, another General was having a private discussion with her assistant who had requested a private meeting. The two locked themselves up in the bedroom and the assistant opened up his tablet reporting the results of his investigation to Qie Guaiwu.
"Ma'am, the information you asked for has just been sent through," said the assistant handing over the tablet with a stiff expression before moving back a few feet just in case Qie Guaiwu lost her shit after reading the report.
"Too much information," said Qie Guaiwu taking out her glasses from her suit jacket, "summarize it for me." Her eyes were in such a poor condition that even when she wore her glasses she would be squinting her eyes trying to read.
The assistant subconsciously moved backward one more foot and said, "This kid actually lived in an orphanage with no clear origins. The nuns found him at their doorstep with just a name. He was then adopted by an infamous treasure hunter whose body was found in the desert. It was around that time that Feng Zi found him and adopted him. It seems they had nothing to do with each other till recently," explaining clearly like a kindergarten teacher teaching kids to write their names, tiring and tedious.
Qie Guaiwu stared at him with a pleased smile. This meant she could legally take the kid out of Feng Zi's hands. Thinking this would be an easy task, she couldn't help but grin. Seeing that smile the assistant hurriedly explained further secretly lighting a candle for himself. "The kid is indeed your nephew's offspring b-," he said but he was cut off by Qie Guaiwu's celebration,
"Great job, I am going to teach that nephew of mine a lesson." It was when she said this, did she remember one crucial point so she asked, "And the woman?"
The assistant felt like jumping out the window, right now and end it all but he had a family waiting for him at home. If he jumps out the window they wouldn't receive the death benefits, it was better for him to wait for Qie Guaiwu to kill him so he prepared himself and said, "The um...ahem the kid also has Feng Zi's DNA in, in it," in a barely audible hoarse voice.
Qie Guaiwu's smile collapsed glowering at this stupid assistant. Yes humans had mutated into beast man but the line on who could give birth was still clearly drawn so what was this assistant of hers bubbling about. "Are you high on psychedelics? How can a man give birth? What, the, fuck, is wrong with you," she said announciating each word while smacking her assistant with the tablet. "I swear if you are taking drugs I am going to ruin you!"
"General, it's, it's true. The lab ran the test four times. It's not a lie. Please spare me," he said regretting ever joining the army. What glamorous life, what good employee benefits? That was all his father's plan to brag around the village that he had a son in the army. Now he was being beaten for telling the truth. Damnit, he would rather be a farmer like his ancestors right now.
Qie Guaiwu threw the tablet smashing it on the floor and held her assistant by the collar and said, "Run it again or I will end you!"
While the assistant was questioning his life choices in the bedroom, Airen was taking up an extra task in her job description that is teaching Feng Xieling mathematics with Qie Ranzhe supervising them like a strict headmaster from a catholic school. This made the process less fun for Feng Xieling wishing he could get rid of Qie Ranzhe. He not only wished it, he actually tried but who knew this man was as stubborn as a boulder remaining unmoved.
Frustrated Feng Xieling sighed heavily while slamming himself on the table saying, "Aiiiii....I can't do this anymore," lifting his head, "Don't you have other things to do with your time? Don't you have a job?"
Qie Ranzhe's mouth twitched supressing a smile. It is to say if Feng Zi is the fun parent then Qie Ranzhe would be the nagging one. That one parent who isn't happy unless he screws with his kid once a day but still provide the best things for them in a kind of love hate relationship.
Feng Zi came back holding three cups of hot cocoa and saw Feng Xieling looking like he was about to cry. He placed the steaming cups, with cute marshmallows swimming on top, in front of Feng Xieling and Airen then sat down sipping on his.
"Lin Lin don't mind him. Have some of this but be careful because it's hot," said Wen Qinxi looking over at the colorful math questions running on an app on a tablet he told Airen to buy.
He was too distracted to notice a certain someone's displeased countenance. Qie Ranzhe was upset because it seemed everyone had something to drink apart from him. Wasn't Feng Zi supposed to be pampering him? What kind of pursuit is this?
Zhao Huangzhi who had been isolated waiting for Qie Guaiwu noticed this and decided to make a cup for Qie Ranzhe, her motives clear but this commander was not only useless in the army but also at making beverages. Who else could screw up a cup of good Joe apart from her? One sip of her brew and one would develop an allergy to hot beverages. The only thing she maybe wouldn't screw up would be tap water. Anyway back to the story.
While Zhao Huangzhi was starting a cold war in the kitchen, Qie Ranzhe took out his phone and messaged Feng Zi seated opposite him. Expectant and looking forward to educate Feng Zi, he averted his gaze as the notification rang on the other man's phone.
He couldn't wait to see Feng Zi's expression when he saw the message but who would have expected Feng Zi wouldn't even glance over his phone. Let's not blame Wen Qinxi, it was just that if it weren't Airen then no message would be important enough to grab his attention. Most of the messages he got were forwarded emails from his band of bandits sending weird emails like the best method to make lasagne or which is cuter, dog or cat? So he deliberately ignored his phone watching the smart Feng Xieling ace the questions like a pro. Besides he didn't think someone sitting right opposite to him would send him a message.
