Chapter 313: Fourth World: The Most Jealous Species
Chapter 313: Fourth World: The Most Jealous Species
There is a saying that goes 'men are the most jealous creatures' but after today the statement can only be tweaked to 'Wen Qinxi is the most jealous species of men'. Their times he had been green with envy in the past worlds. For instance, when he smelt Zhao Huangzhi's pheromones on Qie Ranzhe in the second world or when he found out Zhao Huangzhi and Qie Ranzhe were dating.
His reaction to all this was either pushing Qie Ranzhe away or distancing himself but these actions could be considered subtle. His response could in fact be considered as rational, reasonable and understanding. But this time around there was no subtlety in his response. To fully understand why this firecracker morphed into a firework better yet how this pikachu evolved into a raichu one would have to go two days back in time.
Let's time travel and unfold this mystery.
Two days before evolution:
Ever since the chilly incident, Wen Qinxi noticed his relationship with Qie Ranzhe seemed to have improved a whole lot. At least now the man was willing to sit at the same dinner table and enjoy a meal together. Whether it was because Qie Ranzhe wanted to spend more time with Qie Xieling or because of the food it didn't matter to Wen Qinxi. As long as they could sit together like this it meant the level of favorability had improved.
What he didn't know was on the day of the chilli incident, the person Qie Ranzhe was on the phone within the garden was Kai Zi. One might ask, why should Wen Qinxi care about Kai Zi besides him being Qie Ranzhe's downfall? It's because the relationship between Kai Zi and Qie Ranzhe wasn't the same as Machu with Qie Ranzhe. They weren't brothers from another mother or brothers by blood, no relation.
These two had crossed the thin boundary between friendship and romance or as one would say they no longer had a platonic relationship. Though it only happened one time initiated by Kai Zi all in the name of comforting a distraught brother it gave birth to a serious problem, Kai Zi's unrequited love. Su Xin leaving and fraternising with women was the greatest catapult to this endeavour.
Qie Ranzhe didn't like Kai Zi in that way so he proposed they remain friends on account of the number of years they had known each other and their strong friendship. Kai Zi agreed and continued acting like everything was fine but everything was not fine. That morning he was about to confess his feelings but who would have expected Qie Ranzhe to say such words.
Now, that same person was coming over due to that phone call. Qie Ranzhe happened to disclose that Su Xin hadn't run off yet and from the tone of his voice Kai Zi sensed something was wrong. Like a tiger whose territory had been intruded upon, Kai Zi decided to pay a visit to the island. He even brought along his older brother Kai Zheng, a male god in the entertainment industry. His reason for this would be revealed in the near future.
As the 4x4 trucks tracked up the slope with a view of the villa on the horizon, Kai Zheng finally asked, "What makes you think he will like me? If Ran-ge couldn't bend him then what makes you think I can?" Kai Zheng had no idea Kai Zi liked Qie Ranzhe when he came along to this trip. He wouldn't have agreed to come if it weren't for the name Su Xin. He had seen him a couple of times in the past but the man was like a fleeting spirit never staying in one place for long.
Though he was labelled a freak by countless people in the underworld to others he was a unique treasure that they couldn't wait to get their hands on especially for Kai Zheng. His obsession was as real as day that Kai Zi easily noticed which is why his younger brother was able to draw him in with ease.
"You're thinking too much. You don't have to be this nervous... Take it as you getting to know him," replied Kai Zi trying to calm his brother's nerves.
"Okay," replied Kai Zheng while nervously rubbing his sweaty palms.
To Kai Zi, it would be great if Kai Zheng and Su Xin fall in love and be together forever. At least that would get rid of his love rival. But that wasn't the main objective.
He was just hoping Kai Zheng would keep Su Xin busy while he cultivates feelings with Qie Ranzhe. He wanted to make sure Qie Ranzhe won't fall for Su Xin again. In the past, he didn't need to worry about it because Su Xin would escape all the time. This time it seemed something was different which is why he had to take drastic measures.
As the land rover entered the community, the two men stepped out of the car with the steward welcoming them. When they entered the beautiful Victorian style home, Su Xin and Qie Xieling were playing a game on the console. Qie Xieling had all kinds of fancy toys but his unique personality meant he was never interested in such things. He was only playing now because Su Xin wanted to show off his mediocre skills. It turns out his dad was pretty good at it rousing his interest.
This scene stupefied Kai Zi so much that his smile stiffened. The two had just completed a level and Su Xin was rubbing Qie Xieling's hair intimately like a father doting on his son. They were so immersed in their game that they didn't even notice Kai Zi standing there like a statue.
"Psst..... young master," whispered the steward to Qie Xieling. He knew the relationship between Qie Xieling and Kai Zi was cordial throughout the years which is why he dared disturb his young master.
Qie Xieling who was smiling like the radiant sun turned his head to look at the steward only to have his gaze land on Kai Zi.
"Uncle Zi, what are you doing here?" asked Qie Xieling his smile drooping a little. He seemed friendly but he didn't stand up to greet him just casually tossing that question. Wen Qinxi's attention was also grasped at this moment.
When he saw who it was, his expression became unreadable but internally he was burning like molten lava under the hot desert sun. This man was responsible for Qie Ranzhe's downfall. He didn't know about the ambiguous relationship between Qie Ranzhe and Kai Zi so his hate was based on the game files.
He had to figure out a way to get rid of this man otherwise Qie Ranzhe would face the same fate as before. The only problem was that Kai Zi had a strong relationship with Qie Ranzhe making this task almost impossible.
Their gazes met for a split second before Kai Zi responded to Qie Xieling's question. "Huh?.... Is this how you greet your favourite uncle? Come on, come give me a hug," said Kai Zi opening up his arms for a hug.
Qie Xieling's expression had a subtle change. He didn't want to but for the sake of his Daddy's friendship with this uncle, Qie Xieling stood up reluctantly and walked over to him. Kai Zi's piercing gaze provocatively landed on Su Xin as he hugged Qie Xieling. No matter how Wen Qinxi looked at it this action seemed to give off a reprehensible meaning.
