Chapter 220: Yan Lili’s Transfer Orders (1)
Li Qingcang slowly turned around and looked at Yan Ge.
His gaze was like a sharp knife that cut through Yan Ge’s flesh. Yan Ge felt a chill run down his spine.
He seemed to have gotten a little too enthusiastic.
If he could turn back time, he wouldn’t dare ask such a delicate question.
Thoughts came rushing through his mind. ‘How dare you be arrogant? Can’t you keep your mouth shut? Who does Captian Li like? What has that to do with you?’
The temperature in the office suddenly dropped. Yan Ge’s legs felt as if they had been filled with lead.
“Yan Ge, I think that you are a little too free lately!”
No, he wasn’t free.
Yan Ge shook his head.
“Captain Li, I was wrong,” Yan Ge admitted his mistake instead of making excuses.
“I was wrong. I shouldn’t have pried. I should’ve minded my own business.”
“I was wrong. I shouldn’t have picked up a call that was for you.”
“I was wrong. I shouldn’t...”
Yan Ge tried hard to think of what else he had done wrong. He thought about it for a long while but still could not think of anything else.
“If you like Yan Lili, why don’t you go after her? You don’t have to try to sound me out.”
Li Qingcang’s words stunned Yan Ge. He did not like Yan Lili.
“Sir, I don’t like Elder Sister Lili. She is just like an elder sister to me. How would I dare fall for my older sister?”
Li Qingcang placed his hand on Yan Ge’s shoulder. “I think Uncle Yan would definitely like you.”
“Sir, I want to cry...”
Li Qingcang patted Yan Ge’s shoulder gently.
“How about this, I will give your dad and Uncle Yan a call and tell him to arrange for the two of you to go on a date. What do you think?”
Yan Ge’s legs felt like jelly.
He almost knelt in front of Li Qingcang.
His father had always set Li Qingcang as an example for him.
If Li Qingcang really told his father to arrange for him to be set up with Yan Lili, would he be able to escape that fate?
“Sir, I don’t want to be set up with Yan Lili. I...I haven’t had enough fun yet.”
Li Qingcang nodded and walked towards the drawer in his office. He took out the military merit medal that Ye Tianxin had given him and placed it on his desk.
“Then I shall give you an opportunity to make up for your improprieties.”
“I will definitely complete this mission.”
“Find out who this military merit medal belongs to.”
“Yes, Sir.”
Yan Ge heaved a sigh of relief. Everything could be negotiated as long as he did not have to go on an arranged date.
He swore that he would never be nosy ever again.
He would not open his big mouth unless when questioned.
He would do everything his boss told him to do.
He would not cause trouble, stir things up, and talk too much.
He would be serious about keeping mum until the very end.
Yan Ge took the military merit medal and walked out of the office. He glanced at Yan Lili who was standing at the entrance. He greeted her uneasily, “Elder Sister Lili.”
‘Did Yan Lili hear me and Captain Li?’ Yan Ge wondered.
Yan Lili looked upset. She nodded at him gloomily.
Then, she pushed open the office door and walked in.
Yan Ge’s nosy senses were in full alert. He wanted to stick close to the office door and listen to the conversation happening behind it.
However, he thought of what would happen to him if Li Qingcang were to discover him. If that were to happen, his punishment would not be as simple as staying behind to clean up after dinner.
Yan Lili walked into the office and slammed the transfer order papers in her hands on Li Qingcang’s desk. “Captain Li, what do you mean by this?”
Li Qingcang glanced at the paper.
“I feel that you are not suited to stay on the team.”
Yan Lili gritted her teeth and asked angrily, “Why? Li Qingcang, why do you have to treat me like this?”
“I thought you knew this.”
Li Qingcang’s unconcerned manner pierced Yan Lili’s heart.
