Chapter 288 No Secrets
So it was Guardian Spirit, now they know what he was. Hitori nodded, turned, and left for the house. Eya saw him, she told Akira to follow him.
Kakashi and Kyoryu joined the ladies and escorted them to the house. The house was safe, Hitori unlocked the door, and went inside.
Akira was on his guard, but Hitori cared less. If Tengoku was present, Guardian Spirit will not hang idle. And as far as Onogi was concerned, sure as hell, his father was not letting him go.
Hitori entered his room without caring about any traps. Akira was worried on his behalf. He followed Hitori with a wand in front of his face.
As expected, nothing happened. Hitori closed the door behind him and leaned against the door. He grabbed his forehead as he slid down, and pushed his hair back. His butt touched the hot floor, and he sighed.
"Brother? My parents go missing, my friend is killed, then Vr-cade owners jump to my help, and a younger brother shows up with an uncle?" Hitori got the things in order in his mind.
He knew he had to get confirmation from Eya, but not right now. This time was for him to process the events and relationships, and accept them. Hopefully, it would not take long.
Kakashi and Eya set up the house and prepared something to eat. Reon lay on the sofa and fell asleep. Akira brought her a blanket and sat on a chair near the sliding window. Kyoryu was on the lookout, he refused to leave the first floor unless he makes sure they can sleep for the night. God knows how he will make sure of that.
After half an hour, Eya was done preparing the meal from whatever preserved food and groceries Hitori had. Hitori was done accepting the facts, so he came out of the room. And Kyoryu had made sure they were safe, he came down too.
Kakashi helped Eya arrange the dining table. Akira woke Reon and told her to eat the meal and sleep again. She agreed to eat– she was hungry for days.
Hitori thought this was the best time to bring that topic and clear things before the misunderstandings ruin their relationships or the relationships mess with his head.
"Eya-nee," Hitori said. She nodded at him, "It is nice."
"From what scraps were left, I hope it IS nice." She giggled.
"Uh, I wanted to ask you something," he said, "and it is important."
"Go ahead." She sipped on the soup and slurped the cold soba.
Hitori took out the legendary wand, he still had Kamiya's wand on the other side. "I want to know about this. Everything about this." He panted the wand in the middle of the table.
Reon glanced between Eya and Hitori, Akira nodded his head and leaned back into his chair, Kakashi dropped the soba back into the bowl, rested the chopsticks on the side, and leaned back to listen.
Kyoryu smiled and went back to eating his soba, and Eya was exchanging glances with everyone except Reon and Hitori. "So, Eya-nee?" Kakashi said, "Tell him the truth."
Her eyes widened, and she lost control over her words. She glared at Kakashi and muttered, "You bastard."
She gave a sly smile. "He needs to know, and only you can tell him, Eya-nee, tell him," he ordered.
Her mouth opened and she started, "That is your father's wand. You might wonder why it is with you, well, he died and that man over there brought it with him." She pointed at Kyoryu.
He dropped his soba into the bowl and rolled his eyes. "What a great way of telling him the worst, Eya."
But Hitori already had a guess, so he just nodded, dropped his head, and gestured for her to continue. "Your mother, Kaori-san is dead too. They were killed by… Akuto, in the world of cultivation."
"Who is this Akuto?"
"A martial artist, and your parents' enemy. And a scientist."
Hitori stared at her for a moment. "A scientist? Why did they mess with a scientist?"
"They wanted harmony and peace between the two sides. They were striving to create a world, or a Tokyo, where scientists and mages live as they used to before the apocalypse."
Hitori's heart jumped. His parents were planning something big, no wonder many scientists and mages wanted to stop them. It was like bringing two rival religions to live together.
"So they were rebels."
"Yes. They were."
Hitori thought this was the best time to ask every question he has since she will just tell him everything thanks to Kakashi's spell. But there were some things Hitori did not want to learn.
"What are you to me? What is my relationship with Kyoryu-san?"
"Kyo-san," Kyoryu said.
"With…" Hitori glanced at him, "Kyo-san."
"Consider us your cousins. Kyo-san is your uncle, Hiro-san's elder brother."
"Dad had a brother? What? Did you suddenly appear as Akira did?" Hitori chuckled.
"Actually, I was busy training dragons in the world of cultivation– my birthplace. I never came to Earth unless it was strict business. My parents, your grandparents, left for Earth, but I stayed since I was fascinated by dragons. Hiro was born when I was seven. Things were good on Earth at that time, so we cultivators tried to maintain that peace. Bringing magic to this world would have turned it upside down, but someone did and turned it the way it is now."
"Someone?" Hitori frowned. He was more interested in the apocalypse than his family history. "In the sense, that someone started this apocalypse?"
Kyoryu stared at him, then slurped his soba. "It is my theory, kid, eat your soba."
Hitori lost his appetite. He turned to Eya. "What happened to Akuto? Is he alive?"
"Unfortunately, they could not kill him. He turned out to be way more evil and powerful than them."
Fear and anger started corroding Hitori's heart. "Alive? How powerful is this bastard?"
"The time will come," Kakashi said, "when we all will witness his power."
"But you must know about your parents. Their attempt was not a total failure. They sealed Akuto in a cave. He can not break the seal unless someone breaks it for him and lets him free. Till then, we are safe."
In his white office, Atama sneezed.
