Chapter 3327: The Strange Verdant Sage
Chapter 3327: The Strange Verdant Sage
The man riding the Lithic Drakes was horrified by the mecha’s power. He frantically tried to control the remaining Lithic Drakes to flee, but they were nothing more than insects and would not listen to the man. Even though parts of the massive dragon formation had fallen apart, the remaining segments still held their shape as they charged at the mecha. Explosions rang out, and Di Yan coughed up blood. The mecha raised its arm to fire more beams of light that illuminated outer space as the mecha attacked in all directions. Many of the beams struck the Lithic Drakes, shrinking the giant dragon’s size and weakening the swarm.
The man on the Lithic Drakes was already dead. He had not been able to survive the attacks.
From the distance, more mechas approached.
Ce Wangtian emerged from the void. He watched as the Lithic Drakes fought against the mechas. He had not expected to find any insects in this universe, especially not Lithic Drakes. These insects were quite impressive.
The man automatically tore open the void to reveal the Hollow, checking for any signs of Sky Orchids.
He heaved a sigh of relief. There were none.
In that case, where had the Lithic Drakes come from?
"Stop." Ce Wangtian ordered Di Yan to stop fighting. There were less than a hundred Lithic Drakes left in front of the mecha, and while they could still maintain their formation, its strength was only at the peak Envoy level, which was not enough to threaten any of the nearby mechas.
The Lithic Drakes fiercely slammed into one of the mechas.
Xia Shenji arrived behind Ce Wangtian, and the Progenitor was astonished at what he saw. "Lithic Drakes?"
"Report them to the Heavens Sect. They need to know that we've discovered Lithic Drakes here," Ce Wangtian ordered.
Xia Shenji did not hesitate for even a moment. He immediately returned to the Heavens Sect to deliver the report.
Upon seeing that the Lithic Drakes refused to stop fighting, Ce Wangtian casually waved his hand, eliminating most of the insects. He only left two or three alive, and the bugs slowly drifted in the same direction.
With such few numbers, the insects had stopped fighting.
Lu Yin and the others had witnessed similar behavior while exterminating insects in the past. If they had large numbers, the insects would fight relentlessly, but as soon as their numbers dwindled, they would flee and search out the nearest Nest.
Ce Wangtian led all of the mechas, and they followed the Lithic Drakes. The man was curious about where the insects’ Nest was located.
Soon, the Lithic Drakes passed through a dark, twisted section of the void to return to the West Mountain Dynasty's universe.
In the imperial palace, the crown prince's expression changed, and the Verdant Sage appeared behind him. "So many Lithic Drakes were lost? What happened?"
A murderous glint flashed in the crown prince’s eyes. Who dared to harm his Lithic Drakes?
Soon, Ce Wangtian and his army arrived through the spatial passage, and the crown prince understood. After all, his entire universe was swarming with insects.
The crown prince was not the only one who became aware of Ce Wangtian's presence, as the Progenitor and his army immediately noticed the countless insects that filled the universe. There were Jade Wardens, Sentinel Waltzs, Thousand Shards, Lithic Drakes, and Septastar Blades. There were all the insects that they had seen so far.
The sight caused even Ce Wangtian's expression to change. So many insects? Something was off about this… Time flowed faster in this universe.
The sea of insects started to move. Streams of light shot out from the Sentinel Waltzs. When there was 10,000 of these insects, they could produce attacks as strong as an Envoys, while 100,000 Sentinel Waltzs could release the power of a peak Envoy. This was the limit of the Sentinel Waltzs. Each stream of light was as strong as an attack from a peak Envoy, and throughout the entire battlefield, streams of light lit up almost the whole universe.
Countless streams of light swept through outer space, attacking Ce Wangtian and the mechas that stood near him.
The streams of light collided, and the bodies of Sentinel Waltzs fell in tremendous numbers. It was a rather spectacular scene.
The next moment, countless Lithic Drakes surged from all directions, merging into multiple dragon formations as they charged forward.
Ce Wangtian's eyes flashed. This was most likely the largest Nest that they had ever encountered, and he was not entirely certain how many insects it had spawned.
He raised a hand to attack. Black and white chess pieces swirled around him before they transformed into beams of light that swept through the region. Even the combined forms of the Lithic Drakes, which were capable of unleashing Progenitor-level attacks, were no match for Ce Wangtian.
Behind the man, the mechas charged forward, moving straight at the sea of insects.
In the West Mountain Dynasty's imperial palace, the crown prince's expression fell. Why were there so many powerful invaders? The first wave of attacks from the Sentinel Waltzs had merely been a probe, but these giant invaders had completely ignored the attacks. They were led by a human, the same as the inhabitants of the West Mountain Dynasty, but he wielded incredible power that seemed capable of destroying the universe.
"Verdant Sage, that man is clearly strong enough to fight against you."
Verdant Sage replied in a clear voice, "I can sense his strength. Prepare to retreat. If this is not the full force of their army, then this sea of insects might not be able to hold them off.
"As expected, there are powerful civilizations in this megaverse."
The crown prince clenched his fists. "I don’t care about their civilization. Since they’ve dared to provoke me, they must die."
Lithic Drakes continued to fall. As Ce Wangtian observed the universe that they had entered, he saw countless dragon-like forms approaching. When he saw the Septastar Blades fill the sky, his heart sank. "All ten-ring mechas, retreat."
The ten-ring mechas were only as strong as an ordinary Progenitor. Meanwhile, the Septastar Blades were able to almost move at the speed of time and unleash attacks nearly at the peak powerhouse level, which the mechas could not match. The impact of the countless Septastar Blades would be more than enough to shred the ten-ring mechas to bits.
At the rear, Di Yan’s face grew pale. So many insects?
All of the ten-ring mechas retreated from the West Mountain Dynasty’s universe.
Ce Wangtian waved his hand, and black and white chess pieces filled the sky as they blocked the stars. An entire region of the universe was destroyed as the chess pieces shot towards the sea of insects.
An incredible number of insects was destroyed, and the Hollow was also exposed.
Within the Hollow hid an endless number of Sky Orchids.
Ce Wangtian's pupils instantly shrank sharply. That many Sky Orchids? This meant that this Nest had also spawned Ghost Orchids.
A sharp, eerie sound reverberated in Ce Wangtian’s ears. He saw terrifying faces appear, and they leapt through space, rushing at him.
Ghost Orchids leaped out from the void in every direction, attaching themselves to the mechas as the sound of shearing metal rang out. Both the Septastar Blades and Ghost Orchid filled outer space, and almost instantly, several mechas shattered. The pilots did not even have time to scream before they were devoured, their flesh consumed by the insects.
"All eleven-ring mechas, retreat!" Ce Wangtian ordered sternly.
More black and white chess pieces swept through outer space, destroying enormous swaths of the insect sea. However, against the sea of insects that filled the entire universe, Ce Wangtian’s attacks were starting to lose their effectiveness.
The Verdant Sage disappeared from beside the crown prince.
No one had ever managed to understand just how vast the sea of insects that filled the universe truly was, but Ce Wangtian was able to see it clearly. Despite his immense power, which allowed him to destroy entire regions of space, he was only able to take down a small portion of the insects that surrounded him. He was not even close to being capable of destroying all of them.
Four of the eleven-ring mechas had been destroyed, and the remaining sixteen retreated. Only the twelve-ring mechas were unscathed, and they continued to wipe out the insect swarm.
Each colossal mecha was covered with Ghost Orchids, and the disturbing faces of the Ghost Orchids peered into the mechas. Bone-chilling fear filled the air. The pilots knew that, as long as their mechas held, they would have a chance of survival, but the moment their mechas failed, death was guaranteed.
Ce Wangtian raised a foot and slammed his slipper down. The void was torn apart in a line that swept out. He almost destroyed the very fabric of the universe.
Countless people from the West Mountain Dynasty stared at the sky in horror as it was split in two. They could not comprehend what had just happened.
The crown prince’s expression darkened even further. Where had such a terrifying expert come from?
"My son! My son!" A richly dressed elderly woman stumbled toward the crown prince, supported by maids. Her face was pale.
The crown prince frowned. "Mother, why are you here?"
The old woman was clearly frightened, and she asked, "My son, who is attacking us? Is it the remnants of the East Mountain Dynasty?"
"There was not a single survivor of the East Mountain Dynasty, Mother. Don't worry."
"If that's true, then why are we fighting? We should make peace. Look, the sky itself has been torn asunder, and the insects are being slaughtered. Whoever has arrived is not one to be trifled with, my son."
The crown prince grew irritated, and he waved a hand. "Take my mother back so that she can rest! I know what I'm doing."
"My son, listen to me! No one who dares to challenge a sea of insects that fills the sky should be underestimated. Do not start a war! Do not make these people our mortal enemies…" The old woman’s voice faded away as she was led into the distance.
The crown prince looked back up at the starry sky. Peace? Let’s see if you have the strength to sue for peace!
In outer space, Ce Wangtian clenched his slipper tightly as he repeatedly swung it around. Each swing tore stars apart and slaughtered insects. Countless insect bodies fell, yet more always arrived. They were fearless and utterly relentless.
Behind Ce Wengtian, cracks appeared on a twelve-ring mecha. Countless Septastar Blades had continuously struck the same place on the mecha, which was the equivalent of countless Progenitor-level attacks raining down on the machine. While each attack also killed the insect that had launched it, the remaining bugs seemed endless.
The Sky Orchids absorbed energy and transferred it to the Ghost Orchids, which emanated a strange glow from within the Hollow. One after another, the Ghost Orchids released eerie screams. Their ghostly faces grew twisted with hate as they desperately charged at the twelve-ring mechas and Ce Wangtian.
Far away from Ce Wangtian, the massive mechas were completely inundated by the insects, and the machines could no longer even be seen.
Ce Wangtian shattered a region of space with another attack. While the bugs posed no real threat to him, their sheer numbers were still overwhelming. He saw the cracks in the twelve-ring mecha and stepped forward, instantly appearing next to the machine. The mecha was pushed out of the universe. "All remaining twelve-ring mechas, retreat!"
Ce Wangtian was infuriated. He refused to believe that he was incapable of dealing with mere bugs.
Even if he was forced to swat them to death one at a time with his slipper, he was determined to exterminate every last insect.
Suddenly, he felt a flare of danger. Ce Wangtian immediately dodged, just as a vine shot through the void, emerging from the Hollow.
In the distance, Ce Wangtian saw an odd creature staring at him. It was surrounded by numerous vines, which made it look like a clump of seaweed. This was an insect that he had never seen before.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
The Verdant Sage stared at Ce Wangtian. When the creature spoke, it was in a clear voice. "Are you also human?"
"Obviously," Ce Wangtian shouted back. Suddenly, he realized something, and he threw the Verdant Sage a suspicious look. "What kind of bug are you?"
Verdant Sage was caught off guard. "Is that your question for me? Does that mean that you’ve encountered other insects? You seem to have some knowledge of Nests. Well, there are more than just this one, so it’s no surprise that you've encountered them before. In that case, your attack wasn’t an accident when you saw us. Your killing intent wasn’t not simply self-defense, but rather purposeful. You came here to attack us, didn’t you, human?"
Ce Wangtian scrutinized the Verdant Sage, and then his eyes lit up. "You’re… a Verdant Sage?"
"So you do know about us. Then please, tell me. What do you think of our Nests?" the Verdant Sage asked.
Countless insects continued to swarm around Ce Wangtian. Many of them left the universe to pursue the ten-ring mechas and eliminate more of the machines.
"I won’t speak with you. You’re just a bug. I want to speak to your master."
The Verdant Sage's body was surrounded by dancing vines. "I have no master. You can only speak with me."
"Where is the person who spawned you from your Nest? I want to speak to them," Ce Wangtian demanded.
The Verdant Sage replied, "Through the other eight types of insects, I’ve learned about you humans. Apparently, you intend to kill the one who spawned us from our Nest. This means that our conflict is irreconcilable. So be it. Drown in this sea of insects."
As the words fell, countless vines shot out from Verdant Sage's body. Each one moved at nearly the speed of time, even faster than the Septastar Blades. Most Progenitors would not be able to see the vines at all.
Ce Wangtian dodged most of the attacks and then grabbed the last one with a hand. The force behind the vine was enough to nearly shake the man off. What immense power!
What do you think?
