Chapter 66: Zombie Horde
Chapter 66: Zombie Horde
"Gideon, how much time do I have?" Leo said as he was worried about the camp getting attacked while all the people who can properly fight are almost all away.
"3 minutes and 57 seconds, Commander" Gideon replied.
"Damn, We'd be late for a couple of minutes" Leo cursed as he didn't expect like this to happen.
Amanda stood up and walked over beside Leo and asked him worriedly, "Leo, is the camp gonna be fine? Almost all the men are absent"
"They should be fine, there's also Zabu over there but what I'm worried about are the mutated zombies moving with the horde as we don't know what type they are" Leo said, trying to reassure her.
Amanda sighed with a bit of relief hearing that but her worried heart can't calm down and just walked over to her seat and sat there while Michelle and Aria who are also worried tried to cheer them up.
The new additions just listened with worried but excited hearts as they looked forward to their future on the place they would be calling home and also worried at the same time that a horde of zombies is marching towards the camp just as they finally got rescued from this hell hole.
"Gideon, are you able to call out someone over at the camp and warn them about the horde through the stele or maybe you can connect the Pelican through the stele over there?" Leo said and also cursing himself at the same time that he should have built or bought a communications radio or something similar just in case for emergencies like this.
"I can try commander but let's hope that there would be a person inside the hall that manages to hear me" Gideon said.

Back at Dawn Village/Camp.
Hum~ Hum~
Rachel just got out of the bath while humming and while he was about to pass by the hall room towards her and her husband's room, she suddenly a voice coming from the hall.
"Mayday, mayday. I have an emergency message from Commander Leo from the Pelican. Can anybody hear me?"
'Is that Gideon?' Rachel thought as she immediately pushed open the door and rushed inside towards the stele where a hologram head of a woman in a screen is there.
"Gideon! Is there something wrong with my son?" Rachel immediately asked her, worried about her son's well being.
"Hello there Mrs. Rachel and no, the commander is fine but the camp is not because there is currently a horde of zombies heading towards the camp and the commander wants all available personnel to arm themselves and prepare for battle" Gideon immediately told her the news.
Rachel was stunned as she stood there rooted, "W-what?"
"The com-"
"Wait, I know, I know. How many do you think are there?" Rachel asked.
"I'm not sure Mrs. Rachel but there's at least more or less a thousand of them and accompanied by a couple of mutated zombies"
"Alright, Thanks Gideon" Rachel hastily said as she immediately ran outside as the door of the room slammed behind her.
"This is an emergency! Everyone gather your weapons and immediately head towards the wall! All the kids should stay inside the mansion and Jacob! You're in charge with the kids, don't let them out of the house!" Rachel ran outside and started yelling at the people around her and also made sure to instruct the kids to take shelter in the mansion.
Rachel immediately went back inside the the hall and took her sniper rifle and her katana before she immediately dashed towards the wall with the men and women currently available at the camp following behind her.
"What's happening? What's all the ruckus madam?" Zabu came out of his smithy wiping his hands as he looked around the commotion happening outside and asked Rachel when he spotted her.
"Gideon just told me a horde of zombie are heading towards here" Rachel only said that once sentence before she hastily climbed through the stairs and went beside her husband, Henry.
"Zombies? Just what I was waiting for, I need to stretch out for a bit. My muscles are stiff from too much smithing" Zabu smirked while stretching his arms before he went back inside and took out a huge ass black war hammer made from iron and bigger than the one he first used before.
"Alright, you bastards! Get into positions just like we trained before!" Rachel took command as she started yelling at the men and women standing at the wall as they hastily formed a horizontal line on the wall facing the direction where the horde is coming through.
A few minutes later.
"On my command!" Rachel yelled while walking back and forth as she looked at every women and men swallowing their saliva in their nervousness.
The time continued ticking as seconds and minutes passed as the men and women gulped down as sweat rolled down from their foreheads onto the ground as they looked on the massive way of zombies terrified.
"Hold!"
"Hold!"
When the horde zombies are just over two hundred meters away.
"Fire!"
Bang! Ratatatat! Bang! Bang! Ratatatat! Bang! Bang! Ratatatat! Bang!
A burst of gunfire sounded as the survivors pulled their triggers as the zombies in their sights dropped on the ground like dominoes.
Bang! Clink~ Clank~
Rachel pulled the trigger on her sniper rifle as she successfully killed a mutated zombie called Hunter.

Back at the Pelican.
"Shit!" Leo cursed as he could already hear a burst of gunfire coming from the direction of the camp because of his superb hearing.
"What happened?" Aria came over and asked.
"The horde of zombies just reached the Stronghold" Leo replied to his sister who is clearly worried especially for their parents.
"I'm sure they will be fine as they their own firearms but what I'm worried about are the mutated zombies instead. I just hope Zabu manages to hold them off if the zombies try to scale the walls" Leo said while also checking the battle through the map and seeing that the zombies are getting diminished slowly made him sighed in relief but it didn't made him happy as he doesn't what mutated zombies are out there.
"I just hope the city haven't produced a Big One yet" Leo murmured.

Back at the camp.
"Move over, you ladies!" Zabu laughed with his war hammer resting on his shoulders.
Zabu jumped down from the wall with ease and then dashed towards the mutated zombies, specially the one called Striker, that's been hiding on a tall tree waiting for the right time to attack.
"Make sure you don't shoot him!" Henry yelled at them while he decimated the ordinary zombies using another Thompson.
