Summoned and Unwanted

Chapter 234

234 Spending the last night together

Iris got up and decided to prepare for the next day’s departure. From the time when the goblins started waking up, explaining what happened, and bringing all the herbs from her hidden stash to help Vincent recover, Iris didn’t have much time to rearrange her stuff.

Iris brought everything she could take with her and started packing them in small baskets made out of sticks. After she was almost finished, Iris remembered about the Seed Rebirth spell.

“I can help my tribe!” Iris thought of a good idea. She rushed to a corner in the cave where the tribe leaves spoiling food.

The pile was split into two groups and managed by a few goblins. One pile with edible food for emergency use and another pile to be dumped somewhere far away.

This practice seemed to be quite a modern idea for goblins. It might be a practice the past Kazumi thought.

Iris examined the piles of food and decided fruit would be the least suited to return into a seed. The goblins might die out of starvation before a tree grows and produce fruit.

Iris picked up a lightly spoiled white mushroom as the first test. Her purple eyes sheened in the night, and the white mushroom became engulfed with a bright light. The white mushroom changed form into a wobbly liquidy radiant glow and then gradually reduced in size. In a second, it became a Magical White Mushroom Seed.

The bright light caught the attention of all the goblins who were still awake. Iris flustered the moment she was surrounded by the goblins looking at her with a curious gaze.

“Father, look at this! I can turn fruits, mushrooms, and plants into a seed protected by magic. I remember how this seed can grow without water and sun. But I am not sure because I know about this today...” Iris explained when she saw her father approach her.

.....

Iris wasn’t too sure why she knew about this in detail. She didn’t have a chance to ask Ester or Lupa about why she recalls a memory she never knew about until this day. Almost all the goblins in the world don’t have time, knowledge, and resources to awaken a class. Goblins don’t know about this kind of subject.

“Gobu?” Her father asked.

“Yes. I can make many for the tribe to take and grow. I hope I can help everyone live a better life. I...” Iris abruptly stopped and fell on her knees. She embraced her father and placed her head on his small shoulder.

Iris started crying. Tomorrow could be the last day she might ever see her father again. Iris couldn’t hold her tears back after thinking about this.

Iris thought she was going to be fine living a new life with different people and without her last living family, but as the time drew closer to the time of departure, Iris felt homesick and didn’t want to leave without at least her father.

“Progeny. Can. Talk. Human. Good. Now. Not. Like. Us.”

“Do. Not. Be. Sad. Be. Happy.”

“Progeny. Became. A. Special. Hob. Goblin. With. Nice. Horn.”

“I. Feel. Tired. I. Am. Old.”

“I. Wish. For. My. Progeny. To. Survive.”

“God. Accepted. To. Give. New. Life. And. Live. With. Smile.”

“God. Gave. You. New. Life. So. God. Does. Not. Lie. God. Will. Give. Progeny. Happy. Life.”

*Cough, cough*

“Please stop talking, father. Human language is difficult to speak. It’s hurting your throat.” Iris begged her father to stop.

“I. Want. To. Talk. Like. Humans. To. My. Progeny. Before. We. Separate. Remember. Me. Remember. My. Voice.” Iris’s father wanted to let his daughter remember her father’s voice as he spoke in English.

“Gabu, gabu.” He ordered.

The goblins nodded and went to bring any spoiled edible plant based food to Iris. Others went out to pick all the edible mushrooms they left growing to pluck when in need of food.

An hour later, Iris used her scarf to wipe the sweat and presented the goblins a small basket made out of sticks. Inside were a few dozens of magical seeds.

“We. Rest. Now.” He told his daughter.

Iris nodded and went with her father to their sleeping spot.

*Lusterfall City – Night*

“My lord, an observer from the east tower, wishes to give you a report.” A man informed.

The nobleman on a desk who was called “my lord” waved his hand to allow entry.

A soldier entered and respectfully bowed while saying, “My magnanimous lord, it’s a great honor to allow my presence. I have information I haven’t reported to my superiors yet.”

“Hmm, so you want to sell me this information, yes?” The nobleman asked as he tapped on the desk.

The soldier started sweating bullets when the nobleman placed his elbows on the table and his chin on his fists. “N-no, my lord. I-I just wanted to let my lord know of what I saw in today’s shift.” He said in fright.

“Then talk.” The nobleman said with a demanding voice.

*Gulp* The soldier lowered his gaze and said, “Y-yes, my lord. I was alone in my hourly shift looking with the large scouting telescope when I saw a cloud of dust in the far distance. It didn’t look natural, s-so I thought...”

“To sell me the information, yes?” The nobleman interrupted. Then he opened an under desk drawer and threw a small pouch of coins in front of the soldier.

The soldier flinched from the sound. Then he slowly picked the small pouch and opened it. His eye sheened at the sight of five silver coins.

“Take the upfront payment and inform my guard about the details. Furthermore, leave your name with my guard. If I find that your information is more valuable than what’s in your hands, I could give you additional rewards, yes?” The nobleman with an authoritative tone.

“Y-yes, my lord. Your generosity knows no bounds. No one will know what I saw today. You have my word.” The soldier seemed very happy to sell the information rather than do his job and warn of a possible danger.

*Snap*

After hearing the nobleman snap his fingers, a guard entered and said, “Yes, my lord.”

“Go and record all the information he says. Then escort him out. Furthermore, end your shift and tell the next guard I need to talk to him.” The nobleman ordered.

“Yes, my lord.” The guard bowed his head. He turned his gaze at the soldier and asked, “Could you please follow me?”

The guard followed by the soldier left. A few minutes later, a different guard entered the office.

“Make a guild posting with the requirements of D Ranker only and set the quest acceptance time limit of twenty four hours. As for the request... hmm.” The nobleman said. Then he placed his elbows on the table and his chin on his fists and thought for a while.

“I can’t find my precious wife anywhere in the house, and then I found a ransom note. A group calling themselves Tarja Bandits kidnapped her and demanded, hmm... make it twenty gold coins. I need brave heroes to protect my wife as they escort her home safely after the ransom is completed. ” The nobleman planned with mysterious intentions.

The guard respectfully bowed and said before he was about to leave, “My lord, how much do I set the participation rewards and what to do with my lady?”

“Make it forty silver coins for each person assisting to save my wife. As for my wife, send her on a luxury vacation for these few days. Send my wife to her favorite place tomorrow morning.” The nobleman ordered with a grin.

“Yes, my lord.” The guard left and went to make preparations.

*Day 61*

After a difficult day to forget passed, the morning sunlight welcomed everyone by illuminating the cave the next day.

The goblins woke up quite early in the morning and started harvesting. The cave had a light blue luminescent mushroom slightly glowing in the darkness of the cave. Additionally, in the cave were a few strange flowers with a withered appearance, yet unlike its outer appearance, it was pretty healthy as the roots were healthy and fresh.

Ester didn’t have much space in her Gender Bound Bag Of Holding. She took out a long sheet and decided to bundle the forty mushrooms and twenty flowers together. Then she started to freeze them for preservation.

The goblins stared at Ester with awe. Her crimson eyes had a shine to them, and two bright sigils emitting cold above the back of her hands made them think Ester was also a god.

Previously, Ester didn’t mention a word as she caringly rubbed the slightly damaged Elsir. She felt sad after the only memento of her parents not only got damaged. Furthermore, Ester couldn’t connect with her blade. Ester didn’t know Elsir was in a dormant state and would remain for more than one year.

Thus, only Vincent and Kazumi knew the truth about what happened and about the current situation. However, Vincent was still in a deep sleep, and Kazumi was resting to recuperate mana.

As for Lupa... she didn’t care much. Lupa’s attention was on the fresh bear meat waiting to get cooked. She couldn’t wait to sink her teeth in her hunt.

The goblins heard from Iris how Vincent single-handedly defeated the alpha grizzly bear. No one in the world can now persuade them that Vincent isn’t a god.

The goblins thought Vincent was the one who caused the sword to make a crater with his godly powers. However, nor the goblins nor Iris knew that it was Ester who made the large crater nearby.
