Supreme Couple In Apocalypse: Undead King & Demonic Queen

Chapter 512 The Beginning of...(4), Rule Power

"If you are asking whether it's possible, then the answer is yes," Tenebria smiled, which soon turned awry, "However, it is extremely hard such that simply hard work or talent can't cut it."

"But you are someone who can do that, Erix."

"Only him or us too?" Rin asked as her gaze fixed on Tenebria.

"You also can," Tenebria chuckled. "But take note that even if you are able to bring out that level of power, it will be for a limited number of times."

"Rule Thread?" Kenshin raised his eyebrows.

"Yes," Tenebria nodded. "You can bring out the level of power to defeat a Reverend only by using your Rule Thread, and an Empyrean can only use it up to five times."

"But before that, you must use Rule Fragments to create your Rule Powers. We'll work on that after we return."

The group climbed on Tenebria's Purple Emperor Phoenix mount, flying back to the Shadow Bamboo Sanctuary.

After returning, Tenebria took the group somewhere secret in the Shadow Bamboo Forest they arrived at a clear ground surrounded by bamboo with mattresses, a small pond, bamboo pavilions, and such.

The group sat cross-legged on the mattresses with Tenebria facing them.

"Take out a Rule Slate."

All of them took out a Rule Slate. It looked like an ethereal white glassy square plate the size of a palm.

"Rule Slate is a unique material that only a powerhouse above Reverend-order can make. This is why it's limited here. A single Rule Slate can create 9 empty Rule Fragments, which you will use to create your Rules."

"Putting that aside, let me start explaining the workings of Rule power first," Tenebria smiled and continued.

"Rule power is much like Concept, but flexible and no limit to its application," Tenebria waved her hand as some kind of power enveloped an area surrounding them.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Try standing up."

Erix and others tried to stand up but were unable to. No matter how much they tried, they couldn't stand up.

"I've put the rule in the area that standing is not allowed. As such, you won't be able to stand," Tenebria smiled.

"But such Rules are weak. You have to create Rules that empower your skills and your combat arsenal," Tenebria narrowed her eyes. "There are ways to use Rule Powers. One is Self-Rule, and the other is Empowering-Rule."

"Self-rule is a rule that you apply to yourself and follow it. If you follow it, you will gain the power you desire in exchange for following your Rule, but you also have to put a penalty, that if you fail to follow your Rule, you will receive the penalty that you've decided."

"Empowering-Rule is a rule that you apply to an area, object, or anything other than yourself to give yourself some advantages. You also have to follow the rule you set to acquire the effect you desire, or you'll receive the penalty."

"Now, this Penalty part is the most important when setting up both types of Rules," Tenebria continued. "This is similar to Soul Vice, where you put a restriction on yourself to increase your skill's power. The harsher your penalty, the more powerful the effect of your Rule."

Tenebria's eyes briefly flickered with light before everyone saw a dreamy window before them, displaying a Rule.

"This is one of the basic examples of Rule power."

[Rule of the Unyielding Blade (Self-Rule)]

-Grade: 1-star.

-Rule: "I shall not retreat or step back in battle."

-Effect: While this rule is followed, the user's blade strikes become sharper, doubling attack speed and piercing through all defenses.

-Penalty: If the user retreats, they lose the ability to wield any kind of weapon for 5 minutes, leaving them defenseless in combat.

Everyone read the Rule, surprised.

"Doubling….means does it really double your attack speed and pierce through all defenses?" Isabella asked, doubtful.

Tenebria smiled and nodded, "Absolutely. As long as you follow your rule, its effect will remain active. But know that if your enemy figures out your Rule power and causes you to receive the penalty, you can land in trouble."

"When you create your Rule, the penalty appears automatically in accordance with the Rule effect you've put. However, you can increase the penalty to empower your effect."

Everyone saw the -Grade part highlighting in the window before Tenebria continued, "The grade displays the potency of your Rule power. It only increases when you make your penalty harsher."

"Now, how does one fight against Rule powers?" Tenebria asked but didn't wait for others to answer, "You don't."

"You don't fight against the enemy's Rule powers directly, but create your own set of rules that enhances your combat and finish off the enemy before your enemy can finish you off," Tenebria's eyes sharpened. "The battles at the Reverend-order stage do not last long at all. Nobody knows who has what type of Ruler Field and Rules they set, and since Reverend-order powerhouses can change rules later along with their skills, it gets even more dangerous."

"What is a Ruler Field? Is it some kind of field that activates all Rules they have?" Lily asked.

"Something like that," Tenebria smiled and nodded. "Ruler Field is created when you create an Empowering-Rule that creates an ideal field for you. You have to create a field that helps you follow your Rules with ease so you can fight your opponent and finish them off."

Erix thought of something and said, "But Ruler Field sounds like it can give away what kind of Rules you have set…"

"Good point," Tenebria nodded. "You can make your opponent break their rules if you can discern their rules by their behavior in their Ruler Field."

"But that is why you set your Ruler Field in a way that doesn't give that away."

"Now, the most important point and the absolute difference that Empyrean-order can't overcome to kill the peak Reverend-order," Tenebria's expression turned serious. "The number of rules."

Everyone suddenly understood and wryly smiled.

They knew that there was limit to the number of Rules Empyrean-order could set.

"That's right," Tenebria nodded as she looked at their expression. "You already learned about the comprehensive aura. You all have your Comprehensive aura at 999 already, which is the limit."

"That means you can create 9 Rules at most, using 9 Rule Fragments. As for Reverend-order powerhouses, a peak one can have…99 Rules."

"You have to create 9 such rules that can elevate your combat power to enough level to defeat the Reverend-order, while also becoming sharp enough to make them break their rules."

"This is the only way you can kill Reverend-order powerhouses. Simply be better."
