Chapter 424
424 “Stomp him in the nuts....”
This was the second time Secretary K heard these precious words. Short of his mother before she died no one ever showed him unconditional care or love. His father only wanted to save him because he was his only son. Even then his father faced a lot of opposition from his family to save him. Like they said, “Why would you save a wild seed?”
But this wild seed had finally found a home in the most unlikely of places. An organization demonised by others was his place of refuge, a haven much safer than his own family home. How could he not be grateful?
“I understand,” he said looking straight into her eyes.
Zi Xingxi smiled and helped him up before saying, “Now stop sulking and let’s check on Han Han.”
The moment they entered the door they were greeted by an anxious Lin Ruoxi standing in the kitchen boiling some water. When their eyes met there was no resistance or resentment just pure joy.
It seemed what Yi Zhen did didn’t have an effect on their relationship at all. It didn’t even leave a dent. Zi Xingxi hugged her while asking, “How is he?”
Recalling how pitiful Zi Han looked Lin Ruoxi’s heart ached so much she wanted to hit her husband for making this child cry.
“He is sleeping now. I gave him some medicine and sprayed some cooling spray on him but it was not enough. I think we might need to call a doctor. He is really burning up,” she explained as they walked up the stairs.
Zi Xingxi who knew her son’s constitution wasn’t as worried about the fever burning a hole into his brain. That’s because her son could heal faster than normal people though the pain would still be there. When she entered the room Zi Han was curled up like a ball his breathing quicker than usual.
.....
His fox eyes were closed but one could clearly see some slight redness at the corners of his swollen eyes. His face and neck were abnormally red like a cooked lobster.
Zi Xingxi felt a sharp pang in her chest as she rushed towards the bed to check on her son. She knelt by the bedside and brushed the strands of hair glued to his forehead aside. There were beads of cold sweat on his forehead and he was clutching that pillow for dear life like he was afraid it would disappear at a moment’s notice.
“I will watch over him. Thank you so much,” she said to Lin Ruoxi who was standing there worriedly.
“I will go home and bring those rascals over so we can keep you company,” she replied worried that if she stays here longer those two would tear Yi Feng apart.
“It’s okay. That would be troubling you,” said Zi Xingxi but Lin Ruoxi shook her head. It wasn’t a bother at all. In fact, she felt bad that her husband had to take things too far.
“Xixi...,” she called out hesitating to speak, “I am so sorry.”
Zi Xingxi showed a half smile while saying, “You don’t have to apologize. The one who needs to apologize won’t. I will never hold his decisions against you, you know that.”
She was clear and concise but judging from Lin Ruoxi’s expression it didn’t do anything to ease her sense of guilt. She knew Lin Ruoxi wouldn’t feel better unless she helps so Zi Xingxi could only yield.
“How about you make him some soup and bring it over tomorrow with the kids? I am sure Zi Han would love it,” she said and sure enough Lin Ruoxi’s face brightened.
She nodded her head before saying goodbye and leaving the house.
Zi Xingxi shook her head wondering how someone could be so easily appeased. She called Secretary K over and he helped Zi Han into the lukewarm water for a bath. He used a sponge to clean his body. Zi Han was especially obedient and didn’t make a fuss at all.
Meanwhile, Zi Xingxi picked loose-fitting clothes for him and left them on the bed before changing the temperature in the room making sure it wasn’t too warm. Her every move was practiced like she had done this plenty of times before.
She went downstairs and got him a glass of water. While in the kitchen waiting for the water to cool she finally had a moment to think rationally.
With everything that happened today, there seemed to be someone missing from the picture. The person right at the centre of this storm was missing and that person was Yi Chen.
Zi Xingxi’s brows creased when she recalled how Yi Chen didn’t respond to Zi Han’s calls and messages for two days. All of a sudden when they were about to meet, that is when Yi Chen responded. No matter how she looked at it everything about this was suspicious. She swiped her light brain and called Lynn Feng.
The first sounds that were transmitted through were the energetic jeers of Lynn Feng. “Stomp him in the nuts, make his balls cry tears of blood! Tear him apart!” jeered Lynn Feng while watching Hydra getting his ass kicked by Chronos.
Zi Xingxi, “...”
“Are you saying that because you got rid of yours,” said Zi Xingxi while leaning against the counter.
Lynn Feng realised she had accidentally answered Zi Xingxi’s call knew she had heard everything.
“Uh jiejie there is no such thing. What are you, what are you talking about? I never had such,” said Lynn Feng denying it with a stutter.
Zi Xingxi took a sip of the water testing the temperature before saying, “If you say so. Can you check for Yi Chen’s whereabouts?”
Lynn Feng furrowed her brows a little perplexed. That’s when she realised that not even a shadow of Yi Chen was seen throughout the day which was very strange.
Yi Chen wasn’t the type who would just sit and watch while his father was bullying Zi Han so something definitely must have happened to him.
“I will get right on it,” replied Lynn Feng while turning to leave. She left the crew members enjoying the showdown between two of the three calamities.
