Chapter 6
The Beautiful Devil (1)
At this point, Bai Ye had a better understanding of Qing Xuantian’s psychology. She expected Qing Xuantian would try to get the jump on her and decided to make the first move.
The speed at which Bai Ye moved surprised Qing Xuantian. He did not manage to stop her escape.
“Get her!” he shouted to his men.
Beyond the Bai family estate, the Qingyun soldiers emerged from the shadows. The swiftest of the group managed to block Bai Ye’s advance.
The two soldiers did not expect the girl to lunge at their throats. Her movements were lightning-fast and her aim was accurate. The murderous intent emanating from the girl was frightening. Startled, they took a few steps back.
Bai Ye took advantage of the gap and darted forward like an arrow. She headed straight for the tree-covered hills.
“Chase after her! Go!” Qing Xuantian and his group of soldiers went after Bai Ye.
The large party entered the forest but they were too slow. She slipped through the bushes and trees like a native animal, disappearing without a trace.
This…
“Find her! I don’t care if you have to dig up the forest! Find her!” Qing Xuantian growled. Anger flared in him knowing Bai Ye had fooled him.
Once his growl died down, the cut on his neck throbbed and he was reminded of Bai Ye’s taunts.
At the same time, as Qing Xuantian dedicated his forces to scour the forest, Bai Ye tried her best to disappear among the trees. Her weakened body did not allow her to run far. Instead, she hid in the most unobtrusive corner of the forest, seeking refuge at the top of one of the large trees.
However…
“Master, this girl is shameless! How could she strip naked in broad daylight? What has this world become?”
The bodyguard was speechless when he saw the escaped girl remove her bloodstained clothes and roll around the forest floor. Like a savage, the naked girl bounded up the tall tree.
The speed at which the girl moved meant all the bodyguard saw was a blur. Truth be told, he saw little of the girl as the tree leaves served as a cover. The bodyguard knew her actions were aimed to rid herself of the stench of blood and to throw off her pursuers but…
“Master, did you see that?” the bodyguard asked, glancing surreptitiously at the man in black. He was worried the girl’s antics irritated his master. The result would be…
When he turned to look at his master, he felt his skin crawl. He was shocked to see his master’s reaction, because…
His master was smiling.
Smiling?
F*ck!
“Master, should I kill them all?” The smile frightened the bodyguard so much that he immediately offered to handle the situation himself.
Everyone in the household knew a smile meant heads would roll. A neutral expression was acceptable but a smile from their master was ominous. Goddamnit! They were done for!
His master did not answer. Instead, he made his own move. The bodyguard cursed under his breath.
“F*ck!”
Blood would fill the rivers of this village. The bodyguard sighed in frustration.
A second passed.
Bai Ye, who was still hidden among the tree leaves, suddenly noticed a man in a black silk robe standing on the branch she was on.
She felt her hackles raised in the mere seconds of studying the man shrouded in darkness. He had a menacing aura and exuded a dangerous beauty, like a poppy flower, arresting in many ways.
His cold, iridescent eyes watched her dispassionately from the tree covers. Bai Ye felt his devilish gaze pierce through her soul.
