The Black Necromancer

Chapter 20 Storing Spirits

Leon sat down with crossed legs as he looked at the dozen dark shadows of the resurrected Ghost Millipedes that were now his underlings. The cute little millipedes looked up at him as he thought.

"Alright, all of you come in here. Keeping you out is eating at my mana." Leon suddenly said. The millipedes rushed forward as he activated his <Spirit Storage> skill. The millipedes all jumped at him, and one by one, they vanished into his empty chest cavern, as they were sucked into the separate dimension where they were stored. Only Kaladin, and Nedra remained.

[Spirit Storage capacity: 12/15.]

A prompt flashed in front of Leon for a second before disappearing.

'Spirit Storage's level is low, so I can't store a lot of undead. The capacity will probably go up a bit after the skill levels up some more.' Leon shrugged as he thought about the prompt on his skill's capacity.

"Alright, guys. I'll go to get some rest now. My mana is quite low, and I am feeling tired." Leon told them. "Do you want to rest outside of me, or inside?" He asked. He chose not to just order them into the storage dimension because they were quite different and much more intelligent than the other summons.

"I will remain outside to protect you as you rest." Nedra told him.

"So will I, master." Kaladin echoed.

Leon merely nodded as he laid down and his mind shut down. He had long since gotten used to the hard, rough ground.

.

.

"Kill them all!" Leon exclaimed with excitement as he watched his little minions run through a group of millipedes. The screams and screeches of the millipedes drew in a few more groups, and before long, twenty Ghost Millipedes were facing off against a dozen Undead Ghost Millipedes.

The dark bodies of the Undead Ghost Millipedes were tough. They withstood the waves of attacks that landed on them, and their legs did not snap when the mandibles of the Ghost Millipedes snapped around them. Truly, becoming Leon's minions had been a great boon for them.

Kaladin was standing not too far from Leon, soloing another group of millipedes by lobbing fireballs and lightning bolts at them.

"Careful, Kaladin. You don't want to run through your mana too quick!" Leon warned the Obsidian Mage.

"I understand, master." Kaladin turned back for a moment and nodded.

On another side of the battlefield, Nedra was mowing through the millipedes like some kind of serial killer. It was like she had a vendetta against them. Well... She did have a vendetta against them, but still! The way she massacred them was too brutal and bloody!

In a few more minutes, the group had cleared up all the monsters nearby. Loads of Ghost Millipede viscera and gore littered the ground, and the sight of it all made Leon's bones crawl.

"Let's head elsewhere to do some more leveling. When you guys are all level eighty, we'll head back to the nest." Leon told Nedra and Kaladin. He was a lot more confident about heading down to the nest and facing the dangers there than he was before. Also, he needed the stronger Ghost Millipedes if he wanted to level up quickly. That was why he had sat out of the earlier battles. He wanted the experience to go to his underlings so that they could grow strong enough to help him in the nest.

Leon sent a mental message to his summons, and they all made a beeline toward him, disappearing into him the moment they made contact with him, as he stored them so that he could move faster. He took Nedra into his arms, while Kaladin ran right behind him, only a few steps behind. Before long, they had come across another large group of Ghost Millipedes. This time, they were in a small scuffle with some Ghost Centipedes.

Leon released his summons once more, and watched them do battle with the millipedes and centipedes. A few of them got injured, but Leon's mana was instantly drained to recover their missing body parts in swirling, purple flames.

Screee!

As Leon was watching over his summons running roughshod over the group of enemies, a sudden, loud screech cut through the air, drawing Leon's attention in that direction. When he looked, he noticed that a couple of Ghost Millipede Soldiers were gunning in their direction, angrily screeching and snapping their mandibles.

"I will take care of this, master." Kaladin suddenly said, disengaging from the group of Ghost Millipedes and turning to face the approaching duo. Nedra picked up the slack, but kept an eye on Kaladin. She wanted to see how he would fare against the two raging Ghost Millipede Soldiers.

The Obsidian Skeleton Mage took a step forward and sparks of lightning flickered around him. He raised both of his hands, and the lightning around his body began running straight to his fingertips, where he pointed them straight at the approaching millipedes.

 Zap!

Boom!

The twin lightning bolts shot out, too fast for Leon to see. The next moment, a large explosion rang out, covering the area that the two Ghost Millipede Soldiers had been at with a cloud of black smoke. Lightning crackled through the smoke as an after effect of Kaladin's spell.

When the smoke eventually cleared out a minute later, the only thing that was left was the charred carapace of the dead millipedes. Their flesh had already been burned and pulverized by Kaladin's spell.

"Whoa! Great going, Kaladin!" Leon exclaimed excitedly.

"Thank you, master. Anything to please you." Kaladin turned to face Michael, then bowed.

"Leon?" Nedra suddenly spoke up as one of her front claws tugged at Leon's tattered robes that he had found.

"Yes, Nedra?" Leon asked the little, white queen.

"We need to leave here, quickly." She quickly said.

"What? Why?" Leon was confused. Why did Nedra suddenly say that they should leave here? This was a good spot to grind out some levels. There were even some Ghost Millipede Soldiers hanging around somewhere.

"Because of that." Nedra pointed to the distance. Leon turned around and looked. In the distance, from the direction that the earlier two Ghost Millipede Soldiers had appeared, a small cloud of dust rose into the air. Leon tilted his head in thought as he tried to figure out what that cloud of dust was. Only a couple of seconds passed before it dawned on him.

"Quickly, everyone! Come on!" He urged his summons back into him before turning around and running off.

Only a minute later, that area was swarmed by dozens of Ghost Millipede Soldiers, and over a hundred Ghost Millipedes.
