The Fake Heiress's Inner Thoughts Were Heard by Her Entire Family

Chapter 269

That evening, the Jing family held their first family meeting since the unexpected turn of events.

The teenage boy's face was dark and stormy, his voice low, as if afraid of disturbing his two younger sisters playing upstairs.

"What a load of crap! Jing Yiyi is a Jing! A member of the Jing family! What kind of fraudsters are these?!"

No one had come forward to claim Jing Yiyi as their biological daughter before, so why now, just days after he brought her home? What kind of nonsense was this?

Jing Beicheng's expression wasn't much better, his tone grave. "Have you already looked into it?"

He knew his eldest son's habits. If it were truly a scam, there would be no need for a family meeting.

The fact that it had come to this meant that the other party might indeed be Jing Yiyi's biological parents.

Jing Zeyou remained calm, his eyes reflecting a maturity beyond his years.

"I've looked into it. The timing, location, and details all match what the woman said," he paused, "If it comes to a DNA test, I don't want to hide it from Yiyi."

This step wasn't part of Jing Zeyou's plan. No matter what, he would deal with these two first.

Jing Zeqian suddenly stood up, his narrow eyes filled with wariness and displeasure. "I don't care if it's true or not, Jing Yiyi isn't meeting them!"

Lin Ruiqing frowned, her face filled with worry. After all, blood ties were stronger than anything.

Jing Beicheng patted his wife's hand and turned to his hot-tempered youngest son. "Keep your voice down. Listen to your brother."

Jing Zeqian opened his mouth to argue but, seeing Jing Zeyou's calm demeanor, slowly settled down.

That's right. His brother wouldn't let this slide.

Jing Zeyou's lips curled into a faint smile, though it didn't reach his eyes. If the couple truly wanted to see Jing Yiyi, he might have allowed it.

But they didn't.

"The town isn't big. Word spread quickly after we took Jing Yiyi, and then this couple came specifically. They're probably after the Jing family's status and money."

So, there was no need to worry about them taking Jing Yiyi away.

Lin Ruiqing breathed a sigh of relief, though a hint of sadness lingered. It was good that no one was trying to take Jing Yiyi from the Jing family, but what if little Jing Yiyi found out her parents were like this...

"What about Yiyi?"

Jing Zeyou's voice was calm. "She won't find out." Not just anyone could claim ties to his sister.

Jing Zeqian seemed uneasy.

"If she can't know, then we can't let those people come to North River!"

Jing Beicheng's brow remained furrowed with concern. "No, we have to meet them. Otherwise, this will always be a lingering issue." Only by meeting them could they control the situation; otherwise, they might pop up again at any time.

Lin Ruiqing agreed with Jing Beicheng. After all, their current conclusions were just speculation. They needed to meet the couple to understand their true intentions.

Jing Zeqian leaned back in his chair, frustrated. North River wasn't that big—what if they ran into each other?

What if Jing Yiyi wanted to leave with her biological parents? What if the couple treated Jing Yiyi poorly? What if they had ulterior motives that would hurt Jing Yiyi?

For a moment, the Jing family living room fell into silence.

...

"Little Bao, we're going to see your sister today. Be good, okay?"

The little boy impatiently shook off the woman's hand, his voice shrill. "What sister?! We don't have any useless girls in our family!"

The woman flinched, glancing at the indifferent man before hesitantly urging, "Little Bao, today is different. You can't say things like that, understand?"

She knew the term "useless girl" likely came from the boy's grandmother. It was one thing for him to say it at home, but what if the family who adopted the girl didn't like such talk?

She had heard that the family was quite protective of the girl.

The man, in a rare good mood, took his son's hand and chimed in.

"That's right, Little Bao. Your sister isn't useless. She's here to bring us money, so behave yourself."

The boy, who usually ignored his mother, was somewhat intimidated by his father. He pouted and reluctantly said, "Fine."

The family of three followed the address given by the welfare home, growing more and more astonished as they walked. They were from a small town, and even though they had worked in other provinces and seen tall buildings, they had never encountered such luxurious architecture.

But beneath their astonishment was an uncontrollable excitement.

The man looked around, his eyes wide. "Looks like that girl really landed in a good place! This is so rich—could they be the richest family around?!"

The woman was also excited, though more nervous. "I don't know. Could we have the wrong address?" She had imagined the family was wealthy, but not this wealthy.

The man's excitement grew, his eyes gleaming with greed. "No way! They must be here! Hurry up!" The woman quickly followed, pulling her son along.

But after just a few steps, the man was stopped by the security at the Jing family's gate.

"Stop! What are you doing here?"

The security team stood sternly in front of them, dressed in crisp uniforms.

The man took a half-step back, rubbing his hands together and hunching slightly as he smiled obsequiously.

"Gentlemen, we're here to see someone."

The security captain, who had been briefed about the visitors, stepped forward, his expression still stern.

"See someone?"

He looked the man up and down, then glanced at the woman and child behind him.

"There's probably no one here you're looking for."

The man anxiously tried to step forward, but the security team slightly raised their weapons, causing him to retreat again.

He forced a smile. "Sir, I really am here to see someone. I’m here to see... to see..."n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

He had been about to say he was here to see his daughter but remembered the welfare home's warning.

'The family who adopted Yiyi must be very powerful. You don’t have any proof, so if you’re wrong and they get angry...'

He changed his words. "We're here to see Mr. Jing. The welfare home in Nanyue should have contacted him."

The security captain didn't respond, but his gaze alone was enough to make the couple feel humiliated.

The man felt a surge of anger, silently vowing to replace these arrogant guards once he reclaimed his daughter.

He glared at the woman behind him, who shrank back before mustering the courage to step forward.

"Please, could you check? We really need to see Mr. Jing. This is the address he gave us."

The security captain seemed to believe her, his brow furrowing slightly in annoyance. He uttered two words.

"Wait here."

He turned and walked to the communication station, his demeanor instantly sharpening.

The call connected, and his tone became respectful. "Young Master, the people you were expecting have arrived."

"Good. Let them wait a little longer."

"Understood."
