Chapter 71
Chapter 71
Should I say it or not, the atmosphere on the scene was dead silent.
Chloe looked at Xavier, and Xavier looked at Chloe.
The two of them faced each other speechlessly.
After who knows how long, Chloe finally struggled to open her mouth. She lowered her gaze and hesitated:
"So you are androgynous?"
The moment Chloe's focus changed, Xavier's face had already darkened:
"Chloe!"
Chloe pretended as if nothing had happened, and shifted her line of sight away, pretending she hadn't done anything.
Seeing her force herself to stay quiet, Xavier put down his pen and said,
"What I mean by self-propagation is taking my blood and genes, putting them into an artificial ovary, and cultivating an offspring that has the same lineage as me."
Having said that, Xavier's gaze was tranquil: "To a certain extent, your lineage is even purer than that of ordinary pureblooded vampires."
Upon hearing this, Chloe couldn't help but slightly knit her brows:
"If it really is as you say, then am I still myself, or am I just another form of you?"
After all, what was flowing through her body was Xavier's blood through and through.
"Of course you're yourself," Xavier lightly tapped the table, his gaze somewhat meaningful, "You should know that the personality and abilities of children cultivated in this way can be adjusted by their parents."
Hearing this, Chloe's frown deepened even more.
Xavier said, "But you had an accident."
Chloe raised her eyes: "What do you mean?"
Xavier leaned in slightly closer to the screen, his gaze deepening a little, and said:
"Because originally, I had set your inherited personality to be the same as mine--cool-headed, powerful, undisturbed by external things--a pureblooded vampire born to naturally inherit the position of Ancestor."
Having said this, Xavier paused for a moment, his gaze full of profound meaning as it fell on Chloe.
Chloe pretended she hadn't noticed anything and didn't say a word.
Seeing her thick-skinned as a city wall, Xavier gently shook his head and continued:
"But you see, you still grew up to have the looks of a rogue."
He enunciated those last three words very clearly, as if afraid Chloe wouldn't hear them clearly.
Chloe coughed a few times.
Of course she turned out differently, with her inner core completely swapped out, how could she possibly have grown up according to Xavier's wishes?
Seeing her not speaking, Xavier took the initiative to change the topic: "Who were those people behind you earlier?"
Chloe casually replied: "Friends."
Hearing this, Xavier's eyes narrowed slightly: "That werewolf, he's also your friend?"
"Yeah," Chloe said, "Is there a problem?"
Xavier gazed at her for a moment, then said, "Befriending werewolves is no different from making friends with a tiger for its skin."
Chloe: "......"
Devious? Cunning?
Could those words be used to describe Daniel?
Chloe remained silent about this.
"Father, just what made you get the misconception that werewolves are devious and cunning?"
Xavier: "Aren't they?"
The current werewolf king is a downright shameless villain.
As for that werewolf who was peeking around behind Chloe, Xavier's brow quirked lightly:
"Whether it's werewolves, elves, or humans, they are not ones you can entrust yourself to."
Xavier enunciated word for word: "Those not of our kind, their hearts must differ."
Chloe didn't speak. She perfunctorily nodded her head.
Look, she was right after all, the racial divides on the continent really were severe.
Chloe didn't want to continue blathering pointlessly with Xavier, so just as he was about to speak again, she quickly said:
"Alright, I have to go now, I still have training later."
The words Xavier wanted to say were forcibly swallowed back.
His throat moved, then he lowered his eyes: "Mm."
Right before disconnecting, Xavier suddenly spoke: "If you're short on money, let me know. Our vampire clan won't let our only young miss be reduced to eating garbage."
After he finished speaking, Xavier cut off the video call.
Chloe stared at the disconnected interface on the screen for a while, then turned off the terminal and returned to where the other boys were.
Seeing her return, Daniel immediately started yelling: "What did your dad say to you just now?"
Chloe casually made up some nonsense to fool him:
"He said you're devious and cunning."
Daniel didn't believe her: "You're lying to me again."
"Then just pretend I'm lying to you," Chloe lazily said.
She walked to Qin Huaibei's side, who had his head lowered fiddling with something, and asked: "What are you doing?"
Qin Huaibei showed her his terminal: "Instructor told me to call you, and you happened to come back just in time."
As he finished speaking, a video call came in on Qin Huaibei's terminal.
After connecting, Ren Yunying's face appeared on the screen.
Chloe raised her hand in greeting: "Good afternoon Instructor Ren, Instructor must not have slept well recently, you're looking a little haggard."
Ren Yunying gloomily looked at her: "What was the point of sending me pictures of Styx jellyfish when you're free?"
Chloe blinked and pretended to be sweet: "Wonderful and rare things should of course be shared with important people~"
"Well then thanks to you," Ren Yunying's smile on his face was rather murderous, "Thanks to you, now I've seen a real Styx jellyfish."
After he finished speaking, without waiting for Chloe to ask what had happened, Ren Yunying turned the camera.
Then they saw a huge Styx jellyfish lying in an outdoor swimming pool, with several tentacles draped over the shore. Its pink head and body were above the water. Although it didn't have eyes, they still somehow felt that this jellyfish was currently staring straight at them on the screen.
Chloe was stunned speechless for a moment.
Daniel directly jumped up: "Why is there a Styx jellyfish in the lab!"
Qin Huaibei pressed a fist under his jaw, seeming to have thought of something: "Is it a Fantasy Species?"
"Yes," Ren Yunying helplessly looked at the Fantasy Species that was splashing water to play with its tentacles, and said, "It saw the picture of the Styx jellyfish you sent, and the next second it transformed into this form."
Ren Yunying held his forehead: "Just transporting it to the swimming pool took up a lot of our time."
Katherine behind the crowd asked: "Have you shown it pictures of other animals?"
"We have," Ren Yunying said helplessly, "But it didn't have any reaction at all. I guess it turned into a Styx jellyfish because that picture was sent by you, Chloe."
Hearing this, Chloe slightly raised her eyebrows, refreshed and elated:
"I said so, whether carbon-based lifeforms or mythological creatures, none can resist my charm!"
After a brief silence around her, the veins on Ren Yunying's temples violently jumped: "Send a picture of a small animal over, quick."
Chloe obediently nodded her head and casually sent over a picture of a beautiful lynx, and even edited a line:
【I think this lynx is very beautiful (heart)】
Ren Yunying held up the chat interface to the Fantasy Species. Its figure paused, then in a flash it transformed into the form of a lynx.
The staff immediately fished it out of the pool.
Chloe looked at the Fantasy Species that wanted to get close to interact with her, and the corners of her lips slightly lifted up.
