Chapter 36 An Empire
My feet launch into the air, propelled by my boots, as my gaze scans the surroundings around the castle. I observe the marks left by chaos and the intrusion of the "other wizards," a constant reminder that when facing them, I will dirty my hands with brutal bloodshed.
A smile forms on my lips as I notice a path forming in the opposite direction of the castle. The trail seems to indicate the path the elves were taken, chained by some sort of magic.
As I soar through the skies, my golems below me, I keep my eyes open, absorbing every detail of the environment. We pass through dense forests, winding rivers, and majestic mountains, always advancing at high speed towards the distant horizon.
Days pass, but finally, my senses pick up something new. A glimpse emerges in the distance, revealing a breathtaking sight that leaves me astonished. I raise my eyes to the horizon and witness the grandeur of a vast kingdom.
As we approach the magical empire, my eyes fixate on the wonders unfolding before me. The tall and imposing towers reach the skies, their intricate silhouettes standing out against the sunlight that seems to dance around them. The castle in the distance radiates an energy, palpable even from afar.
As my attention turns to the sky, I am impressed by the scene unfolding. People riding majestic flying creatures, resembling small dragons, glide skillfully through the air. Their wings flap gracefully, leaving a trail of magical sparks as they cut through the deep blue sky.
However, the city where this castle stands is not defenseless. A massive shimmering barrier surrounds the entire city, pulsating with magical energy. It seems impenetrable, a formidable defense against any threat that may approach. The barrier creates a perfect outline around the city limits.
As I ponder the options at my disposal, the weight of responsibility falls upon my shoulders. Attacking the city directly would be an extreme risk. The higher-level wizards would certainly be prepared for such a confrontation, and even if I managed to breach the barrier, it would be an unequal battle resulting in my defeat.
So, how about I return to my base and bring my complete army? No... that would take approximately two weeks, and in that time, my elven women might already be dead.
A solution takes shape in my mind, a bold and stealthy strategy: infiltrate through the ground. It is the only way to deliver a decisive blow without risking a frontal confrontation. I didn't want to use my secret weapon so soon, but I believe I have no choice.
[Nuclear Fusion Energy Bomb!]
With determination in my heart, I begin working on the creation of the automatic catapult. I gather the necessary materials: sturdy stone, high-quality wood, forged iron, and above all, the red stone charged with magical energy. The energy contained in this stone will be essential to propel the nuclear bomb with the required force.
With skill and precision, I shape the components of the catapult, fitting the pieces together one by one. The red stone is inserted into the receiver of the central mechanism, connecting to the transmitter that is my gauntlet, to receive commands when the time comes. With each touch, I feel a surge of energy coursing through my body, fueling the catapult with the magical power it needs.
Upon completing the assembly, I carefully inspect every detail, ensuring that everything is functioning correctly. I adjust the firing mechanisms and the aim, making sure the catapult is ready to fulfill its purpose.
Okay, now I only have two bombs left, which I will install inside the city. Once the bomb is installed within the city, I will present myself, and if they don't give me what I want, I will make them pay with blood.
While my golems wait patiently, I begin digging into the ground toward the city. Using my pickaxe skillfully, I create an underground path that will lead us directly to the enemy's heart. The golems follow me, marching at my side, ready for the approaching battle.
As we advance through the soil, the earth trembles beneath us, bearing witness to the magnitude of our presence. The darkness of the underground is our ally, concealing our movements from the vigilant eyes of the city.
Based on the time I've spent digging and considering the obstacles I've encountered, I deduce that I am now within the city limits and have managed to bypass the large barrier that prevented my passage. A satisfied smile forms on my lips.
Determined, I begin digging upward, aiming to reach the surface. The earth yields to my efforts, and finally, we emerge in a deserted alleyway. I quickly glance to both sides, checking for anyone nearby. The silence is oppressive, but this momentary tranquility is opportune for planning my next move.
Activating the boots that grant me the power of flight, I leap into the air with agility. I feel the wind as my body is lifted above the city's rooftops. My eyes scan the landscape, analyzing every detail of the sprawling city before me.
This city is characterized by its imposing structure. I see claustrophobic streets, crumbling buildings, slanted walls, and immense gates. The city reflects the strength and dominance of the empire, highly protected even in its humblest houses, which are true fortresses.
From atop this decrepit house, my eyes behold a terrifying panorama. The world I find myself in is a dark place, immersed in darkness and oppression. Looking beyond the boundaries of this structure, I witness a black and fortified empire, a brutal force that dominates everything around it.
The streets a few kilometers away are like winding veins, teeming with monstrous creatures, rushing about in their daily tasks.
The empire rising before me is a symbol of the power that rules with an iron fist. The black, tall, and imposing walls enclose the city, serving as an extra protection after the magical shield.
I look down and observe the creatures filling the streets. Some may appear human, but their appearances are so mangled and deformed that it's hard to say for certain. Others are true monsters, grotesque beasts that crawl in the shadows, seeking defenseless prey. They all seem to carry the weight of greed.
Although I am on top of this house, observing the world around me, I feel the weight of an invisible force on my shoulders. My mind is filled with questions, and a flame of rebellion burns within me. I wonder if I would truly be doing a good deed by detonating two bombs here.
While the answer remains uncertain, I continue to observe the scene before me, feeling a mixture of fascination with the world that surrounds me.
