The Substitute Female Supporting Character Sees the Bullet Screen

Chapter 49

Feng Hanying went to deal with that insolent fool, crushing him into fertilizer to nourish the withered shrubs on the ground. The golden demonic aura drifted away, and as the shadow serpent left, demonic cultivators began to "gather like moths to a flame."

He returned to find the two of them, Gu Jiang and Nie Yinzhi, already settled in a new place to rest.

The little serpent glanced at the darkening sky, lingered outside for a moment, and then vanished with a pitiful expression.

There were no inns in the Ten Thousand Demons Cave. Other industries struggled to survive here, with only pleasure-seeking establishments thriving. The small courtyard Nie Yinzhi had rented was part of Molten Gold City’s largest brothel.

The tiny, square courtyard had a small garden at the entrance, followed by a room with curtains of beads hanging on all sides. The courtyard was meticulously decorated with red silk drapes, clearly indicating its nature as a place of indulgence.

In the Ten Thousand Demons Cave, spirit stones were still in circulation and were even more valuable than outside. Under the Demon Sealing Mark, demonic cultivators avoided using their demonic energy unless absolutely necessary, as excessive use would deplete their energy due to the sealing talisman’s effects. Thus, spirit stones were needed to power certain arrays and tools.

This small courtyard, equipped with a defensive array, was considered quite luxurious here and came with a hefty price tag, but the service was equally top-notch.

The Ten Thousand Demons Cave had a bold and unrestrained culture. Even though Gu Jiang and Nie Yinzhi appeared to be a couple, the proprietor unabashedly presented them with the establishment’s prized catalog. In the Ten Thousand Demons Cave, couples often sought excitement together. Everyone lived in hardship, never knowing if they’d end up as a dried corpse in an alley the next day, so indulging in pleasure was seen as the wisest course of action.

The proprietor was very attentive to high-paying customers, especially after hearing rumors that the shadow serpent had accompanied them. “Everything in the courtyard is brand new, so feel free to use it as you wish. Once you’ve made your selection, just write your names on this board, and we’ll send someone to attend to you immediately,” he said before excusing himself and leaving the courtyard.

Nie Yinzhi initially didn’t understand what was going on. She opened the catalog and was immediately met with images of scantily clad women, their translucent silk barely concealing their allure. She quickly turned to Gu Jiang, who had already shifted his gaze from the catalog and looked at her innocently, “Hmm?”

Nie Yinzhi’s eyes widened, and she clutched the catalog to her chest, taking a step back. “You’re not allowed to look!”

Gu Jiang was momentarily stunned, then chuckled. “Alright.” He turned his attention to the small, soft yellow wooden board used for communication. The wood had a faint trace of “Molten Gold” demonic energy, having been altered by prolonged exposure to demonic power. He fiddled with it for a moment before losing interest and lying down on the soft couch. He pulled something out from behind him, glanced at it, and tossed it into a crack in the wall.

Nie Yinzhi forbade Gu Jiang from looking, but she herself couldn’t resist flipping through the catalog. As she turned the pages, her face flushed red. The catalog not only featured women but also men dressed in equally revealing attire.

She reflexively slammed the catalog shut, her eyes darting around. It was so strange, but she couldn’t help but take another peek. She opened it again and flipped through a few more pages.

When she looked up, she saw Gu Jiang reclining on the couch, propping his head up with one hand, watching her intently.

Nie Yinzhi’s gaze wavered, her eyes flitting around as she caught sight of the barrage of comments flooding her vision.

【Is this the Ten Thousand Demons Cave? This is heaven!】

【I’ve realized, is Feng Hanying the only one in the entire Ten Thousand Demons Cave who’s still hell-bent on escaping?】

【On the table, small toy x1】

【Yes! Keep flipping through the pages, let me see more!】

【Sis, what kind of eyes do you have? I can’t see anything, it’s like there’s a built-in mosaic. So boring.】

【Ahhh, don’t turn the camera away! Even if you don’t, it’s too blurry for me to see anything!】

【On the couch, small toys x2, x3. The demon lord doesn’t even mind the discomfort. Small toy x4 has been thrown away.】

【The counter has arrived, albeit late.】

【On the storage cabinet, small toys x5, x6, x7, x8… Damn, too many to count. The Ten Thousand Demons Cave is wild. I want to be locked up there too.】

Gu Jiang could guess what Nie Yinzhi was seeing in the catalog just by her expression. Her guilty look was utterly amusing.

Recalling Nie Yinzhi’s earlier reaction to such matters, he furrowed his brows and sent a gust of wind from his sleeve, snatching the catalog from her hands and tossing it onto the roof. “You’re not allowed to look either,” he said.

Nie Yinzhi threw herself into his arms, patting his head as she reassured him, “None of them are as good-looking as you.”

Gu Jiang laughed, wrapping an arm around her back and planting a gentle kiss on her temple. He responded with a confident, “Mhm, of course.”

Nie Yinzhi’s face reddened as she touched her temple, then jumped off him. “I’m going to take a bath first.” The air here was filled with yellow sand, and even though cultivators had spiritual energy to protect them, Nie Yinzhi still felt like she was covered in a layer of dust.

The provided bathing pool was small but cleverly designed. The white screen surrounding it was adorned with intricate lines that made her dizzy if she stared too long.

As she soaked in the water, Nie Yinzhi found her thoughts drifting to Gu Jiang. He would often take her hand, occasionally peck her on the lips, and even when she could walk on her own, he would effortlessly scoop her up. Every time she turned around, his gaze was always on her.

He had become even more affectionate than before his love was sealed away, as if he were afraid that any misstep on his part might hurt her.

How could he be so… endearing?

Nie Yinzhi covered her flushed face, her chin sinking below the water as she blew bubbles.

After her bath, she urged Gu Jiang to go wash up as well. The evening gloom settled in, and the Demon Sealing Mark above occasionally flickered with an eerie light. The upward-flowing demonic energy shimmered faintly in the darkness, creating an almost enchanting sight.

Curious, Nie Yinzhi wandered around the room, noticing the subtle differences between the Ten Thousand Demons Cave and the outside world. Many of the small objects here seemed peculiar.

She picked up a book from the shelf and opened it, her eyes widening as she suddenly realized that the lines on the white screen were actually illustrations of intimate scenes. The small object she had been idly playing with earlier was also far from ordinary.

Nie Yinzhi’s face burned as she quickly put the erotic book and the object back in their place.

—Why did it feel like these demonic cultivators were living quite happily trapped here?

Nie Yinzhi decided to stop snooping around. She sat down on the couch, closed her eyes, and checked on the oasis. The Red Leaf Blade, abandoned by its master, dutifully maintained a barrier of sword light.

Before they left, Gu Jiang had somehow caught another red fox, and the two foxes were now running around inside and outside the secret realm.

The paper clone of “Gu Jiang” was, unsurprisingly, asleep.

Nie Yinzhi felt something lick her wrist, drawing her attention back from the oasis. A palm-sized rabbit hopped into her lap. The rabbit was snow-white, small and delicate, with a fluffy body and eyes like black jade, with only a tuft of black fur on the tips of its ears.

She was momentarily stunned. “Little thing, where did you come from?”

A light cough from the rabbit revealed Gu Jiang’s voice.

“Gu Jiang?” Nie Yinzhi picked up the rabbit, her eyes wide with surprise. “A rabbit? Why a rabbit?” Who would have thought that the terrifying demon lord’s spiritual projection would take the form of such a small, delicate rabbit?

The white rabbit suddenly vanished from her hands.

Nie Yinzhi cried out in disappointment, “Don’t go! I didn’t get a good look!”

In the bathing pool, Gu Jiang splashed water on his face. Wasn’t the snow rabbit much cuter than that ugly, fat Yanyan Tu? It seemed Nie Yinzhi had forgotten what she had said before—she didn’t really like rabbits.

As soon as Gu Jiang stepped out of the bathroom, Nie Yinzhi pounced on him, clinging to him as she pleaded, “Brother, I want to see the rabbit again. Let me touch it, just for a little while.”

Gu Jiang sighed, sounding exhausted. “I’m tired.”

Nie Yinzhi thought about it—he had indeed done a lot today and hadn’t had a proper rest. She relented, “Alright, I’ll look tomorrow.”

“I’ll still be tired tomorrow.”

“Then the day after.”

“Even more tired then.” Gu Jiang scooped her up by the waist and carried her to the bed. He drowsily collapsed onto it, only to accidentally trigger some mechanism, causing the bed to start shaking.

Nie Yinzhi was startled by the movement and quickly searched for the mechanism to stop it. Gu Jiang pulled her back, “Leave it. It’s quite comfortable, rocking like this.”n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Is that so?" Nie Yinzhi lay down beside him and felt it for herself. "It is quite comfortable. Demonic cultivators really know how to enjoy themselves." It made sense, since Gu Jiang, the Demon Ancestor, was someone who knew how to indulge.

Nie Yinzhi was pulled into Gu Jiang's embrace, his cool lips brushing against her forehead, planting a kiss on the flower-shaped mark formed by demonic energy between her brows.

She looked up at him. Gu Jiang's eyes were half-closed, teetering on the edge of sleep.

Nie Yinzhi snuggled against him for a while before cupping his face and saying, "You've been so affectionate lately, kissing and touching me. You never used to be this proactive before."

"Brother, you don’t need to deliberately try to make me happy like this. It must be exhausting." She had already adjusted her mindset. "Even if you were a bit colder toward me, I’d still know you care for me."

"You don’t like me being like this?" Gu Jiang immediately became more alert, opening his eyes.

Nie Yinzhi replied without hesitation, "How could I not like it?"

"Being cold for one day might not upset you, but what about ten days, or a hundred? Wouldn’t that make you sad?" Gu Jiang gently rubbed the back of her neck. "Nie Yinzhi, I remember I used to have these impulses—to hold you, to kiss you."

"Alright then." Nie Yinzhi felt warmth spread through her heart. "We still haven’t finished today’s task."

[Check-in: Demon Ancestor’s fifth assignment submission]

[Help! The bed’s rocking is supposed to make things more enjoyable, not lull you to sleep!]

[I also want to touch the Demon Ancestor’s Yanyan Tu. I’ll just touch it, nothing else. *smokes a cigarette*]

[Is the Demon Ancestor unable to get it up now? Even though his desires aren’t locked, why does he always stay so calm after kissing? Watching them kiss just leaves me completely indifferent.]

[Will the Demon Ancestor who used to throw Nie Yinzhi into a secret realm to calm himself after kissing ever make a comeback?]

[The progression of the comments: The Demon Ancestor can’t, the Demon Ancestor can! The Demon Ancestor can’t again—more dramatic than the main plot!]

[For an old salted fish like the Demon Ancestor, without love, it’s probably hard to feel desire. Otherwise, how would he have survived over two thousand years of solitude?]

[It’s just not stimulating enough. Now that the psychological stimulation is gone, we need to increase the physical stimulation. Back when Nie Yinzhi sealed his senses and touched a leaf, didn’t that make him rock hard? There probably wasn’t love back then, right?]

[Genius!! You’re my life coach!!]

Nie Yinzhi: "!!!" I think I’ve accidentally learned something.
