Chapter 149: Jaxon Cain's Report | France

[Eldoria, Mercenary Cooperation Headquarters - Jaxon Cain's Office]

After completing a follow-up mission requested by the vice president of the Heroes organization, Axel headed back to Pinnacle Academy.

Meanwhile, Vanessa and Christian navigated their way to the main base through Seoul's IDS station.

As they approached the headquarters' main building, Vanessa and Christian walked side by side.

haah...

"So... we've finally dropped those kids off at their homes safely,"

Christian sighed, his hands behind his head.

"Even though we weren't told to," Christian added. "He knew something was up before we could even find out."

"Yeah... I guess he has a stronger intuition than both of us," Vanessa said, stretching her arms.

Despite the mission's focus on a stakeout and investigation, they had gone beyond their boundaries and overstepped them completely.

Vanessa was aware of this, but she also sensed that Axel had different intentions, especially after seeing the kids.

It was as if he was playing a game of chess, always five steps ahead.

swangg

As they entered through the doors, they approached the receptionist.

"Jane!" Christian called out, waving his hands.

Jane looked up at him, but before he could react, Christian felt a tug on his shirt and was suddenly propelled out through the open automatic doors.

"AHHHH!!!!"

BANG!

Vanessa, using her Gravity attribute, 'gently' guided Christian back towards the entrance as he flew out.

She hummed a tune, skipping towards Jane's desk.

"Hey Jane, we're back from our mission!" Vanessa placed both arms on the desk, leaning in to see what Jane was doing.

Jane looked up. "Hey, Vanessa. So, you kids are back to missions again?"

Vanessa nodded happily. "Luckily, Christian didn't mess it up for us this time."

"Yeah, I can see that." Jane glanced towards the entrance to see Christian with a ripped banana peel on his head.

"So, the usual?" Jane tapped the intercom, awaiting Vanessa's response.

"Yup."

"Okay then..." Jane dialed Jaxon Cain's office. He picked up the phone immediately.

"Are they back?" Jaxon's voice came through the phone, serious.

Jane responded promptly. "Yes, they need to debrief, right?"

She glanced at Vanessa and Christian, awaiting Jaxon's confirmation.

"Yes. Tell them to come up," Jaxon instructed.

Jane relayed the message to Vanessa and Christian, signaling them to head towards his office.

"I'll let them know."

...

...

...

knock, knock, knock,

As Vanessa and Christian knocked on Jaxon Cain's door, his voice boomed, "Come in." They entered, trying to maintain a formal demeanor.

As they settled into their seats, Vanessa muttered, "He even set up with 3 seats as well..."

Christian, noticing the extra seat, whispered to Vanessa, "I think he was supposed to come..."

Vanessa, realizing this, decided it was best to let it go, considering Axel's condition.

"So..." Jaxon's voice made the two straighten up in their seats. "Where's Axel?"

He gave them a stern look, causing them to flinch hesitantly.

"I told him to go..." Vanessa said, head down, but her hand up, indicating she had made the decision.

Jaxon sighed, "Well, if you're making the calls, then I'm sure there was a reason."

He took out a book and a pen, started writing, and continued, "So, I've seen the news..."

Jaxon continued, "The Heroes Association has informed me about the actual results of the investigation..."

Christian and Vanessa understood that they had deviated from the mission's course and needed to take full accountability for it.

"I-"

"Well done."

"...!"

The unexpected praise surprised them both, their eyes widening at Jaxon's rare display of approval.

Despite his typically unreadable expression, they sensed his sincerity.

"You've dismantled a key branch linked to the Dark World, and it seems they've made progress in locating its main hub."

Vanessa and Christian were thrilled to receive such positive feedback from their boss.

"Thank you, sir," they said simultaneously, bowing gratefully.

Christian then asked, "So, are we allowed to go on normal missions again?"

Jaxon turned to Christian, raising an eyebrow.

"I'll see after I hear your report and thoughts on Axel."

Christian sat up straight, enthusiasm clear in his voice.

"He was amazing! Rel took down the inside of the organization's warehouse and the boss all on his own."

Vanessa chimed in, her excitement matching Christian's.

"It was incredible. He showed remarkable skill and determination."

The two leaned in, eager to share more details, but Jaxon raised a hand, stopping them.

"I'll take your word for it then... dismissed."

Vanessa and Christian beamed at each other, their smiles practically lighting up the room.

They quickly rose from their seats, nodding respectfully to Jaxon before leaving his office, their hearts full of pride for their new teammate.

[Pinnacle Academy, Male Dorm Rooms: 4-A]

[Friday, 6:00 AM]

RING!!!!...RING!!!!...RING!!!!

"uhh... my head.. it hurts."

The alarm blared relentlessly, urging me to wake up.

I groaned, reaching out to hit the digital clock on my nightstand, but it refused to stop ringing.

I felt the frustration, so I resorted to a more drastic measure: I tried to break it.

THUD!

"ouch!"

My fist collided with the unyielding clock, causing more pain than I anticipated.

Rubbing my sore hand, I struggled to get out of bed, feeling incredibly drowsy.

I ended up tumbling out clumsily, hoping the fall would jolt me awake.

As I staggered back to my feet, I fumbled for my glasses, still half-asleep.

Finally, with them on, I could see a system notification blinking in front of me.

FWANG!

[The following story arc has been altered...]

[Arc: France Flight Arc]

[Context: With the destruction of Nightshade Corps the following events of the first encounter of a demon will appear but with a special character that has yet to arrive.]

[This character will not be named as of now and even with PPP points you cannot purchase this information regardless...]

Okay... well I'll be needing clues on this since it could be anyone that's in France.

Especially since a lot of my characters are based in this country, both guild and nationality-wise.

Now I'll just get to the usual routine...

I headed to the shower, letting the hot water work its magic, waking me up fully.

My teeth got the usual treatment, that clean feeling I like.

Nothing better to start the day.

I grabbed a quick breakfast, (Bacon and Eggs) not wanting to waste any time.

As I ate, I glanced at my reflection in the kitchen mirror, noticing my hair was getting a bit too long for my liking.

"I need to get this hair cut," I muttered to myself. , I tied back only the back of my hair, leaving the front loose, a style I found comfortable and practical.

Finally got my luggage together, everything I needed for the weekend.

But if Jaxon Cain wants a mission done in France, it's better to be prepared.

Since anything could happen... Well not anything, but the stories fixed events, that line up perfectly for the current stage.

So I ended up using my same old bag that consisted of my sword 'Axel', and mercenary gear, just in case.

[Seoul's Main IDS Station - Lounge Room]

[Friday, 7:15 AM]

As I arrived at the IDS station in Seoul, bustling with people like an airport, I scanned the lounge room for the members of our club.

It didn't take long to spot them, seated together, chatting lively.

I made my way over, greeted by familiar faces and the next start of the France Flight Arc.
