The Tycoon's Odyssey

Chapter 348 348Surprise[III]

Jason's chest heaved as he struggled to find his voice, the weight of Evan's oppressive energy clinging to his body like a heavy shroud. His lips parted, but no sound came out at first. Swallowing hard, he finally forced the words past his constricted throat.

"I…I didn't want any of this," he began, his voice hoarse and trembling.

Evan's gaze remained cold and unyielding. Jason looked away, his eyes darting to the motionless figure of battered Mithal lying on the floor. His fists clenched as if drawing strength from his mounting frustration and pain.

"I didn't want things to turn out this way," Jason said, louder this time, though his voice cracked under the strain of his emotions. "I never wanted… to hurt them."

Evan's expression remained unreadable, but the subtle shift in his stance demanded Jason to continue.

Jason's voice choked as he spoke, his words spilling out in uneven bursts as memories clawed their way to the surface. "Do you know what it's like," he said, his tone raw, "to grow up thinking you were the one who is gonna inherit such a huge empire, only to realize that you're nothing more than a pawn in someone else's twisted game?"

He clenched his jaw, his emotions spilling like water through a breaking dam. "I was terrified the first time I heard Mithal's name—when I learned that he was my father. The stories that he was nothing more than a greedy, ruthless scum who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted."

Jason's gaze landed on Mithal again, disgust flashing in his eyes. "And they were all true."

His voice rose, shaking with a mix of anger and despair. "Do you think I didn't know what he was capable of? That I didn't know what he'd do to Roy and Claire if I didn't play along?!" He paused, his breathing turning ragged before he continued. "I pleaded with him, acted like his loyal son, just to keep them alive. If it weren't for me, Mithal would've killed them long ago!"

Evan tilted his head slightly, his icy blue eyes narrowing. Jason's words tumbled out now, unfiltered and raw.

"I saved them!" Jason shouted, his voice cracking. "I cared for them! I risked everything for them! And yet, they still never trusted me." Your next chapter is on empire

He slammed his fist against the armrest of his chair, his knuckles whitening. "They never handed me the power. They never declared me the heir. They only let me work under their shadow, a pawn with no real authority."

Jason's voice wavered between desperation and defiance. "Even when we planned the attack," he continued, "I made sure they'd survive. I—"

He stopped abruptly as his voice broke completely, emotions overtaking him. For a moment, the room was filled only with the sound of his labored breathing.

Suddenly, the oppressive force that had been weighing on him fully disappeared. Jason gasped, the sudden release catching him off guard, and he stumbled forward, collapsing to his knees.

As he raised his head, his breath hitched. Evan stood over him, his piercing blue eyes locked onto his own with an intensity that made his blood run cold.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Those eyes…

They weren't just cold; they were predatory. They looked at him as though he were a prey, a weak, trembling creature caught in the jaws of a merciless hunter.

Evan stepped closer, each movement deliberate and slow, like a lion stalking its next kill. "Are you finished?" he asked, his voice soft but sharp enough to cut through the thick tension.

Jason shuddered under that gaze, his body trembling as he remained on the ground. Whatever shred of defiance he'd mustered was now crumbling under the weight of Evan's unrelenting presence.

Evan's expression hardened and with a flick of his hand, Jason's body rose higher into the air, his feet dangling helplessly. Jason clawed at his neck, his screams echoing through the luxurious lounge. The once-composed man was reduced to panic, his calm facade shattering under the pressure of Evan's power.

"What is this?" Jason gasped, his voice hoarse, eyes wide with terror. "What are you doing? Stop this… please!"

Evan stood still, his piercing blue eyes boring into Jason, exuding an aura of absolute dominance. His words came sharp and biting, cutting through the chaos.

"Do you think we are shooting some kind of family drama?" Evan asked, his voice laced with mockery. He tilted his head slightly, as though genuinely considering the absurdity of the situation.

"Should I give you an Oscar for your grand performance with such intense emotion?" he sneered, his tone dripping with contempt.

Jason's struggles intensified, his face turning red as he struggled to catch his breath.

"Whom are you kidding?" Evan continued, his voice colder than ice. "Stop lying to me, to yourself, to everyone. You're nothing but a greedy, unfaithful dog who bites the hand that feeds you."

The room grew colder as Evan's power surged, the invisible swirling energy forcing the onlookers to retreat in fear. Jason's guards, still recovering from the earlier attack, watched helplessly, unable to intervene.

"My parents," Evan began, his voice chillingly calm, "gave you opportunities. They placed you in lower positions to teach you responsibility, to help you grow into a mature and capable person. But what did you do? Instead of showing gratitude, you let greed blind you."

Evan took a slow step forward, his piercing gaze never leaving Jason's trembling form.

"They were waiting for you to stabilize, to prove that you were ready to take on the greater responsibilities. But no, you couldn't wait. You wanted power immediately. And don't even think about justifying your actions during the attack."

Jason's gasps grew harsher as the unseen force tightened its grip around his neck. Evan raised his arm higher, his voice now a thunderous roar.

"You knew exactly what you were doing," Evan accused. "You wanted to use Mithal to fuel your ambitions and then discard him like trash after he was no longer useful. But when you realized my parents were still alive, your cowardice kicked in, and you changed your plans."

Jason's screams weakened, his movements frantic but futile. His body writhed against the crushing force, his strength draining by every second.

Evan's face darkened further as he uttered his final words with venomous disdain. "I have no patience for betrayal, Jason. No mercy for snakes like you."

Then, with a sharp wave of his hand, Evan released Jason. The force holding him aloft vanished, and Jason crumpled to the ground, landing with a sickening thud. He groaned in pain, coughing and gasping for air while his body trembled uncontrollably.

The room fell silent, the only sounds being Jason's ragged breathing and the faint hum of the energy still lingering in the air. Evan loomed over him, his icy blue eyes burning with unrelenting intensity.

"You don't deserve anything from this family," Evan said softly, his tone low and menacing. "Not power. Not respect. Not even forgiveness."

Jason weakly raised his head, his eyes meeting Evan's. At that moment, he saw no trace of compassion—only the sharp, unforgiving intent of a predator staring down its prey.

In the next moment, Jason's body started to rise, suspended by the same invisible force.
