The Typhoon's Dangerous Wife

"Please involve me in the investigation," Xiuying begged him. "If you can't find him, I will. Just tell me why won't you add me to your team?" 

"Xiuying, I have promised you before that I will bring him to you if he is alive. Adding you to my investigation team means attracting danger. I'm sorry but I can't keep your or your child's life in danger," Ryuu replied. It wasn't that he was refusing her help. He just wanted her safe. 

Yes, Xiuying was pregnant with Huo Yusheng's child. And Ryuu knew about it. Little did Ryuu know that an impulsive act on Alcina's part would land Huo Yusheng and Xiuying's lives in a greater threat. 

Huo Yusheng was nowhere to be found after Ryuu and Xiuying's 'fake' wedding. And he believed that the Ming family had a great part in this great conspiracy. He had promised that he would bring Huo Yusheng back to Xiuying at any cost but she had to do something in return. She had to pretend to be Lord Ryuu's wife until her lover came back. 

Ryuu had weaved this whole plan when he was in London, injured and in a hospital bed. To keep his daughter and woman safe, he had to take another woman as a wife. Xiuying was acting as his cover to protect his family from the mole. There was a mole in his team and to know who the mole was, he had to make this strategy. 

Wasn't it the reason why only Feng Siyan and a handful of people knew about the existence of his daughter? Only he, Feng Siyan, and now Zhenyi and Long knew that Alcina was 'Queen of serpents', the top assassin of Phantoms. 

He knew how important it was to make Alcina believe that he and Xiuying were a real couple. Not because it had anything to do with the plan but because of personal reasons. He was tired of chasing her, he now wanted her to do the chase. It was time that she accepted that they were meant to be together, not the other way around. As for her blind dates, he would let her enjoy it for a few more days. 

Xiuying slumped on the couch, a lone tear came rushing down her cheek. "It has been months, Lord Ryuu. How long must I have to wait? Why must I be suffering because of her actions? Instead of taking responsibility for bringing destruction to my life, you are protecting her. Isn't it unfair?" 

"You keep on blaming her, Xiuying. Isn't that unfair too?" Ryuu asked her in return. "Don't you think that you are punishing her in vain?"

"Haven't you heard that everything is fair in love and war?" Xiuying said with a sneer after reminiscing what Alcina had done to her. She was more than devastated when she knew that her lover was drugged by Alcina (the weird woman she met on the cruise) in jealousy. If she was taken advantage of when she was at her lowest, perhaps, the man she loved more than life would have been with her. 

"You have your answers, Xiuying. If you are willing to do anything for Huo Yusheng, so is she ready to do anything for claiming what's her," Ryuu told her, protecting Alcina. It wasn't weird to him that he was protecting Alcina even after knowing what she did was indeed wrong. He would never let her suffer as long as he was with her. She was his life and the mother of his child. It was obvious that he would be protective of her. "She is not oblivious to her feelings. She is just trying to hide them for whatever reasons I don't know. If I promised you that I will find Huo Yusheng for you, then it means that I will. Don't care what price I may have to pay." 

Nodding, Xiuying picked up her bag and turned to leave but before saying, "I will be waiting for you to fulfill your promise, Lord Ryuu. In the meantime, I will find out what the Ming family is conspiring behind your back." 

"I will look forward to your reports," Ryuu said.

"Cat eyes, are you sure this is your 'super idea' to hang out?" Long Jie asked his wife who was walking through the shopping mall with Faye. He could see the twinkle of mischievousness dancing in her mismatched eyes. When was the last time she acted her age? 

Without bothering to turn back, she pointed her finger at a shop and whispered something to Faye who nodded in return. Now that they were walking to the kid's section, he was left with no choice but to follow them. Yes, he was officially demoted from husband to bag carrier. 

In the noon, he received a call from his wife who was gushing about how she had a super idea to hang out together. As a crazy man in love, it was obvious that he would be over the moon hearing his wife wanted to spend some alone time with him. 

But Alas, she was just looking for a man to carry her shopping bags. However, he was more than willing to be one if it meant he would be clinging to her side. Call him a clingy husband, he didn't care. 

"Baby, how about you try this one?" Zhenyi picked a peach-colored tulle dress for her niece. Both of them were picky when it came to clothes, so it wasn't a surprise to him that it was the only dress she had chosen from hundreds.

Seeing her pouring her maternal love on her niece brought a familiar kind of ache in his heart. He wondered if she was trying to compensate for her own lost child by loving Faye. He wished to erase all kinds of pain from her life.
