The Typhoon's Dangerous Wife

"Hi! I didn't know that we would meet again," Jin Xian said, a smile tugging on his face as he occupied the empty seat in front of Alcina. 

Alcina cursed her ill fate as soon as she looked up. He was the same man who Esma had set her up with last time. Technically, that wasn't a blind date as Esma had called her for lunch and then forced her to go in her place. 

"Umm...weren't you Allen last time?" Alcina asked him, slightly confused. As much as she remembered, he introduced her by the name 'Allen'. 

"Weren't you Esma too last time?" Jin Xian asked her, raising his perfectly arched brow. 

If you ask Alcina what was wrong with this guy? She would answer that he was too beautiful. His beauty came across as a little feminine. He and Ryuu were like earth and sky. 

"I think we cleared last time that I'm not Esma," Alcina said suddenly, offended. 

"Sorry, if I offended you but I was really kidding, "Jin Xian said with an apologetic smile. " As for Allen, that's my English name. I go by Allen Jin." 

"Oh…" 

"How many blind dates did Mr. Jin usually attend?" Alicia asked him. She wondered if this poor man was forcibly sent on blind dates because as far as she could see he was handsome and really wealthy. Were not these enough reasons for women to flock around him? 

"Miss Long, to tell you the truth it's the second blind date I have been forcibly sent… because of my grandmother. Last time, it was my sister who announced she is setting me up with her friend's therapist. And this time it was my grandmother who was over the moon that I will be marrying her best friend's granddaughters," Jin Xian said with a deep sigh. "I didn't want to show up. But then the thought of standing up on a woman didn't end well with me. So, here I am to apologize to you." 

To say Alcina was touched by his honesty would be completely true. At least he wasn't like her who couldn't say no to her grandmother and nor to her heart. It took a sheer amount of courage to accept what your heart truly desired. And she was failing in this aspect badly. 

"Thank you for telling me the truth," Alcina said with a small smile. It was good that she didn't have to pretend to be interested in him. 

"Since I didn't upset you, I should leave now," Jin Xian said and stood up to leave. He was a straightforward, no nonsense type of guy to begin with. 

Alcina nodded. As Jin Xian was about to stand up, she noticed a man sitting on the nearby table spying on her. For God's sake, she was a top assassin under Phantoms, did Ryuu think she wouldn't notice his man mingling in the crowd? 

What a sneaky bastard! 

Didn't he say he didn't care what she did? 

Now, what were his men doing here? 

Playing hide and seek? 

"Mr. Jin, "Alcina softly called out his name and grasped his hand to prevent him from leaving. He paused when he heard her calling him in a mellow voice," Please don't go." 

He peered up to see her beautiful green eyes beseeching him to not leave her. In a daze, he didn't realize when he nodded and sat back in his seat. Taking advantage of the situation, Alcina ordered for both of them. 

"I'm sorry," Alcina mumbled as soon as the waiter disappeared after taking their order. "I didn't mean to…"

"I get it," Jin Xian replied with a patient smile. "Someone is spying on you?"

Alcina glanced at him in shock. " How do you know?"

" I'm a criminal lawyer. How do you think I make a living by my profession?"Jin Xian said nonchalantly, leaning against the sofa. 

"Should we call the police?" He added. 

[This guy… he is too sweet to be true. I wish my heart had fallen for this guy instead of that….Ugh. Not going down that lane. ]

Alcina shook her head. "No, it's harmless." 

"A boyfriend?" He asked a while later. 

"Nah, one of his lackeys," Alcina sneered. Was Ryuu even her boyfriend? He was just her baby daddy. 

Jin Xian laughed at hearing from her. " Must be special to get a sharp reaction out of you. " 

Alcina slumped on the sofa, "It's complicated." She didn't know why she shared this piece of information with him. But sometimes, it was easier to share your problem with a stranger than with your close friends. Speaking of friends, she couldn't consider anyone except for Esma her friend. Talking about Ryuu with Esma was out of the question as she hated him with everything. 

"You see, Alcina, nothing is really complicated. We, humans, are strange creatures. We insist on making every single thing complicated just like ourselves. The matters of the heart are always delicate and very fragile no matter how strong the foundation of your relationship is. If you do not handle it well, you are bound to suffer, "Jin Xian told her wisely. He was honestly talking from his personal experience. 

"What if it is really complicated, like real complicated?" Seeing his raised brow, she continued," If I decide to take a step forward, it's gonna affect at least four lives." 

"I had a girlfriend in college. We were so in love that we didn't even care about the fact that our families were each other's, arch enemies. After dating for six years, I chose my family over her, kept on convincing myself that the matter was very complicated and this was the only way as my parents would never have accepted her," Jin Xian told her with a sad smile. "Took me two months to get my head out of my ass to understand that I couldn't live without her. And when I went back to her, she was gone. It's been eight years and I am still waiting for her. You know what I regret the most, Alcina? The rivalry between our family wasn't worth leaving her. I should have stayed and looked for a solution to our problems than tormenting myself by forcing me to leave without her. Complications are not worth sacrificing your love."
