Chapter 176
Chapter 176
The car arrived at a private estate. Chi Yu held Song Luokui's hand as they entered the magnificent grand hall, where they were immediately greeted by an attendant.
Chi Yu spoke with the attendant for a while before proceeding inside. Song Luokui looked around, noticing that everyone was holding a glass of wine. Well-dressed gentlemen in suits and ladies in beautiful gowns filled the ornately carved and brightly lit hall, reflecting the noble status of the host.
As Chi Yu talked with a gentleman, a towering foreigner approached them with two women and a man in tow.
Nan whispered in Chi Yu's ear, "Boss, it's Mandela."
Chi Yu and Song Luokui immediately turned their attention towards them.
Abadde Mandela, the current head of the Mandela Family at the age of 52, had a wife, multiple mistresses, and numerous illegitimate children. His eldest son, born to his wife, was the one currently locked in a warehouse.
According to reports, Abadde had a penchant for young girls – a scandalous predilection that certainly would not be exposed to the public. Frowning, Chi Yu thought of the twisted tastes of some members of high society in foreign countries.
Abadde had his arm around a young woman, clearly his mistress. The couple trailing behind him bore some resemblance to Abadde, leading Chi Yu to assume they were his children, though uncertain if they were from his wife or mistresses.
The four approached Chi Yu's group, leading to a standoff. Despite being outnumbered four to three, Chi Yu's side did not appear disadvantaged.
Abadde broke into a smile first, extending his hand towards Chi Yu. "Mr. Chi, it's an honor to finally meet you."
Chi Yu scrutinized Abadde, then his outstretched hand, before slowly reaching out to shake it. The others held their breath as the two men's hands met.
Rumors had circulated that Abadde's eldest son had offended Mr. Chi and was currently in his custody. Those in the know could not fathom why the son would dare provoke the formidable Mr. Chi.
Mr. Chi's ruthlessness was well-known. Even in Hua Country, he was someone not to be trifled with. Many had underestimated him due to his youth and attempted to eliminate him, only to suffer dire consequences themselves. No one dared to take him lightly.
After a prolonged handshake, Chi Yu and Abadde finally parted, with Song Luokui noticing the reddened marks on Abadde's hand.
Abadde's expression remained unchanged, but his eyes lit up when he turned to Song Luokui, extending his hand towards her. "So this is Mr. Chi's companion? I wonder which esteemed family this outstanding young lady hails from."
Sensing Abadde's ill intent, Song Luokui swiftly hid behind Chi Yu, who patted her hand reassuringly. "My wife is a bit shy."
Upon hearing this, Abadde looked at Chi Yu. "Oh? I'm not familiar with her family from Hua Country. Perhaps I know her parents?"
The Mandela Family had business interests in Hua Country, and Abadde had met many prominent figures as a foreign guest.
A smirk formed on Chi Yu's lips. "You certainly know them – Mr. Song, whom your family has had conflicts with in the past."
Abadde's expression changed as he realized the two families he despised most in Hua Country had joined forces, despite rumors of their long-standing feud.
However, he quickly regained his composure. "Mr. Chi, I apologize for my son's offense against you. I trust you have disciplined him sufficiently these past few days. When might he be allowed to return home?"
Chi Yu's expression turned cold. "So you expect me to let the person who tried to kill me go unpunished? Moreover, your son is not in my custody. I have no idea where he is. If you find him, please inform me."
Who could prove he had imprisoned Abadde's son?
Abadde replied, "Mr. Chi, we are all intelligent people. My son will face legal consequences for his crimes."
Chi Yu's face remained impassive. "Oh? So you do understand the concept of law? I thought that word wasn't in your dictionary. Let me reiterate – your son is not in my custody."
Abadde didn't believe him. "I can offer you half of our tin mining business in the Americas."
Upon hearing this, the two children behind Abadde reacted negatively, particularly the son, who seemed about to protest until the daughter swiftly stopped him with a shake of her head.
Chi Yu shook his head. "Your son is not with me."
Seeing his offers dismissed, Abadde forced a smile. "Well, I hope you enjoy your evening, then."
"You too," Chi Yu replied.
As Abadde and his group passed by, his mistress threw a seductive glance at Chi Yu, which he pointedly ignored.
After Abadde left, Chi Yu instructed Nan, "Have our men and gear ready later. I fear he might try something after the party ends."
"Understood."
Song Luokui clung tightly to Chi Yu's arm as he led her into a side lounge to rest. "Are you hungry? Let me get you something to eat."
"Sure."
Chi Yu returned shortly with food and, unexpectedly, a gun for Song Luokui. She blinked in surprise, unsure where to conceal it while wearing a gown.
"I'll help you," Chi Yu assured her, proceeding to strap the gun to her thigh.
The intimate positioning flustered Song Luokui, though her dress's slit would allow easy access if needed. Chi Yu gave her a reassuring kiss. "Don't worry, I won't let you get into danger."
Song Luokui squeezed his hand. "Okay."
After a light meal, they rejoined the party, with Chi Yu introducing her as his fiancée to several acquaintances.
Once the event concluded, they departed in a different vehicle from their arrival, with several escort cars accompanying them. They switched vehicles midway, obscuring which one they occupied.
Two kilometers outside the estate, Nan suddenly warned, "They're here!"
They suddenly found themselves surrounded and intercepted by several cars on the road. One car from behind deliberately rammed into one of their vehicles with great force. A bodyguard immediately took out his weapon and fired at the tires of the attacking car, "Bang!"
The car's tire burst, and it crashed into the side.
The kill was on!
A fiercer assault ensued in the pitch-black night on the broad road, with a dozen cars chasing and ramming each other. Sounds of screeching tires, emergency braking, and bullets hitting the cars filled the air.
Chi Yu held Song Luokui tightly in his embrace, covering her ears, while she nestled against him, her hand caressing the weapon on his thigh.
Nan, seated in the front, kept a close watch on the situation, occasionally issuing commands.
The car carrying Song Luokui and her companions remained unscathed, speeding along the road. Yet, with Chi Yu's firm embrace, Song Luokui felt no trembling.
