The Wife of Hades

The sharp silver backing dug into Yu Xinyi's open skin on her arm and she screamed painfully as Hu Yiyi pulled the hook out again.

Seeing this, An Luxia quickly jumped off the car again and threw herself onto Hu Yiyi, not exactly remembering what she had learned all these years in karate. However, her weight worked as Hu Yiyi collapsed onto the leaves, still screaming crazily at the thought of her life and plan being ruined.

The worker quickly ran over and grabbed onto Hu Yiyi again before she could hurt anyone else. 

"Xinyi!" An Luxia helped Yu Xinyi up from the ground, and although she wasn't seriously hurt, her arm was gushing blood out by now. The earring hook was very sharp and as Hu Yiyi had gone crazy, when she pulled it out, she must have tugged on it because the gash ran down Yu Xinyi's arm.

An Luxia's hands immediately turned red as she grabbed onto Yu Xinyi's arm and everyone else in the car immediately came back out when hearing the commotion.

Mo Han's face darkened when he saw the blood on his wife's hands, and although it did not belong to her, he was still furious, "Can you not even do a simple job well?!" 

  He turned to K and K immediately ran over, replacing the man who had originally been holding onto Hu Yiyi. The man was dragged off, screaming for mercy but Mo Han did not hear.

An Yuchen's face paled when he saw the blood even though he was a doctor, and he ran over to Yu Xinyi, grabbing onto her arm, "Xinyi, are you okay?!"

  The blood in Yu Xinyi's face had gone as she looked at her arm in shock, her brain still not fully processed the accident yet. Maybe it was because of the loss of blood, or maybe it was because she was too scared, but the next second, the world turned black as she fell down, straight into An Yuchen's arms.

Beep, beep, beep. . . Yu Xinyi woke up to the sound of monotonous beeping and she slowly recognized the hospital environment she was in.

She looked around and her eyes landed on An Luxia first, and then An Yuchen, who was next to her.

"Xinyi!" An Luxia called, jumping up in excitement, "You're awake! Oh, you scared us so much! There was so much blood. That crazy woman, I'll certainly have Mo Han kill her!"

Yu Xinyi smiled weakly, a buzzing sound in her ears as An Yuchen helped her up in the hospital bed, "How long has it been?"

"A few hours," An Yuchen responded, worry written all over his face, "I'll go and call the nurse to come check on you. Wait one second."

  An Yuchen walked out of the room with large strides and An Luxia couldn't help but grin watching this as she turned to Yu Xinyi, "Xinyi, my brother was the most worried when you got hurt. He carried you into the car and treated your wound himself! You should have seen him!"

Yu Xinyi looked down, not very excited, "Xiaxia, you don't have to encourage me anymore. I don't think he likes me."

  An Luxia's smile stiffened slightly as she sighed, grabbing onto Yu Xinyi's well arm, "Really? Are you sure? I know my brother the best, and I have been with you two since we were all kids. From a third person perspective, I can see what is going on the best."

Yu Xinyi looked up at her and An Luxia continued, her expression serious, "I know you are my best friend, but do you think I would be helping you if I was certain that my brother didn't like you? I want the best for my brother as well, okay?"

  "But. . ."

  "Think about it," An Luxia quickly said when she heard the footsteps, and the next second, An Yuchen was back with two nurses.

An Luxia stepped aside and An Yuchen began doing multiple checks on Yu Xinyi, even though it was just a small cut on her arm. Yu Xinyi watched as An Yuchen did his job seriously, and An Luxia's words replayed themselves in her head.

"An Luxia!" Yu Xinyi screamed when she saw the empty plate on the table in the An house, "Didn't I tell you to save a cookie for me?! Did you eat the last one!"

An Luxia giggled embarrassedly as she scratched the back of her head, "I'm sorry, Xinyi. I must have forgotten!"

  Then, she ran away quickly before Yu Xinyi could go after her. Yu Xinyi looked at the empty plate dejectedly and was about to go hunt An Luxia down when An Yuchen came out from the kitchen, holding a napkin. 

He handed the napkin over to Yu Xinyi with a smile, "The cookies are too sweet. You can have mine."

  Yu Xinyi unwrapped the napkin and saw a large cookie inside, and she looked up at her brother Yuchen with glistening eyes, "Thank you, brother Yuchen! You are the best!"

  An Yuchen smiled and his arm next to his legs moved slightly as he considered patting Yu Xinyi on the head. Then, he cleared his throat and walked away, going up the stairs to do homework.

"I know right, the class is so hard. You were so right to not take it," Yu Xinyi whined as she walked into the An house, saying hello to An Yuchen excitedly as they walked past each other.

An Luxia bumped Yu Xinyi in the shoulder and giggled softly at her reaction upon seeing her brother, and Yu Xinyi rolled her eyes, "Chemistry? I told you not to take it. My brother took it and he said it was horrible."

  Yu Xinyi sighed and dragged her body up the stairs, her backpack filled with homework for the chemistry class she was taking in high school, "It is! The teacher sucks!"

  An Yuchen heard this as he walked past the stairs and went to go get a cup of water, and as he slowly sipped the ice cold water on the way back up the stairs, he remembered something and ran back down.

In the storage room, he found a cardboard box and began flipping through the pile of paper inside, finally stopping when he reached one folder. He quickly flipped through the pages and smiled, placing the glass onto the table and walking up the stairs two at a time.

When he reached the room, he knocked once and walked in, pleased to see that An Luxia was in the restroom and Yu Xinyi was alone on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

"Xinyi," he called as he walked in, placing the folder onto the bed, "These are my notes from when I took chemistry. Maybe they will help?"

  Yu Xinyi immediately jumped up from the bed and smiled brightly, looking at the folder, "Oh, thank you so much, brother Yuchen! The class is so difficult."

  An Yuchen did not say anything and smiled before turning around and leaving the room. At this time, An Luxia came out from the restroom, drying her hands, "What happened? Was that my brother?" 

  "Yes, he gave me his chemistry notes," Yu Xinyi screamed excitedly, looking at the pages filled with his handwriting, "Isn't his handwriting so neat? Oh my, it looks so pretty."

An Luxia clicked her tongue as she shook her head, sitting down on the bed, watching Yu Xinyi as she excitedly read through the notes.

--- Present

"Everything is normal, but stay in the hospital just a little longer," An Yuchen said, placing his hands into the pockets.

Yu Xinyi was still thinking about stuff, and it took a second before she nodded, "Okay. About how long do I need to stay?"

An Yuchen thought about it and although the nurse was wondering why the doctor had made this patient stay since it was just a cut, An Yuchen responded, "One hour?"

Taking this opportunity, An Luxia jumped up from the chair, pretending to be surprised, "Oh, brother, can you help take care of Xinyi and bring her home later? I just realized I have a test today."

  She put on her handbag and froze slightly when she heard Yu Xinyi respond, "Today is the weekend."

  ". . ." An Luxia cleared her throat and whirled around awkwardly, "Sorry, not a school test. A school assignment."

  Then, she sprinted out of the room, winking to Yu Xinyi on the way out, "Bye!"

An Luxia gulped, wondering how she had such a stupid friend. It was summer break!

Therefore, An Yuchen and Yu Xinyi were left alone inside the hospital room. An Yuchen looked at Yu Xinyi apologetically, knowing that this was all his fault, "I'm so -"

"You don't have to be. . . Just be more careful next time when looking at people."

  An Yuchen looked down and nodded, "I still have some work to do. I'll come back and bring you home later, okay?"

Yu Xinyi nodded and watched as An Yuchen left the room slowly, closing the door behind him.

What were his true feelings towards her?
