Chapter 57 - Li Yilan's Arrival
She narrowed her eyes and stood up, looking directly into the girl's eyes.
"Li Yilan, what are you doing here?"
Yes, indeed it was her sister. Her biological sister. But what in the world was she doing here?
Li Yilan smiled at An Luxia's reaction and scanned the room silently and quickly, noticing that several pairs of eyes were on her.
Indeed, even in the city she was considered pretty and attractive.
Lifting her chin up slightly, Li Yilan looked at An Luxia and put on a fake smile, "I attend this school. Did mom and dad not tell you? This is the college I'm going to."
An Luxia immediately furrowed her eyebrows together and from behind, Yu Xinyi tugged at her sleeve, "Xiaxia, who is this?"
Hearing that, Li Yilan's gaze moved down towards Yu Xinyi and her smile widened as she stretched her hand out, "Hello! You must be my sister's friend. I'm Li Yilan, Li Yix - I mean, An Luxia's biological sister."
At once, several gasps filled the room as murmurs arose inside the classroom. The room had quieted down and Li Yilan's voice was very loud, so basically everyone had heard.
The school knew that An Luxia was adopted into the An family since someone had posted about it on the school forum her first few years here, but no one knew exactly which family she came from.
Of course, there were all kinds of rumors. Rumors that her parents died, rumors that she came from an upper-class family, rumors that she came from a very poor family, and even rumors that she came from royalty!
Now, there would finally be an answer. Thanks to Li Yilan.
Yu Xinyi jumped up from the chair and looked over at An Luxia in shock. An Luxia had texted her yesterday and told her about what happened on Saturday.
So this was Li Yilan. . . Yu Xinyi narrowed her eyes and pulled An Luxia back slightly, glaring at the girl's face which she already knew she wouldn't like.
Just as everyone was still immersed in talking about the big news, the door swung open and the professor entered the room, so everyone stopped talking and Li Yilan returned to her seat, which she purposely chose to be one row in front of An Luxia.
For the entire class, An Luxia had a hard time paying attention.
Li Yilan attended this school? The cost of attending this college was quite high without any scholarship, but if she was planning on staying for all four years and possibly graduate school, then the 100 thousand dollars Li Qiyu had asked for would definitely not be enough.
So where was the 100 thousand going to?
After the class, the news about An Luxia's biological sister attending the same school had basically spread across the entire campus already.
Someone in the class had posted it anonymously to the forum, even bothering to take pictures and uploading them as well.
An Luxia was a popular figure in the school, and from the news, it also blew the new transfer student, Li Yilan, up.
Pictures of Li Yilan appeared on the school forum right under the hot article of An Luxia's biological family, and several comments underneath it were either talking about how she looked like An Luxia, or about how she was also very pretty.
Obviously, Li Yilan was enjoying it very much, as she constantly was scrolling through her phone, looking at the forum post and the comments.
A lot of people became friends with her as well within hours after the article was pushed out, and her popularity in the school rose drastically.
By lunchtime, a new post had made its way to the top of the forum.
'School beauty An Luxia actually comes from a poor family!'
Yu Xinyi rushed over to An Luxia after lunch, gasping for air, "Xiaxia, did you see the forum yet?!"
An Luxia raised one eyebrow and nodded, "Yes, I know about the post. I am biological sisters with Li Yilan."
"No, no, not that one! There is a new one and it's at the top now. Go look!" Yu Xinyi turned around to pull out her own phone and An Luxia did the same, turning it on to see her name right in the center of the forum.
After reading the title of the post, her expression darkened slightly.
There was only one way the people knew about it. Li Yilan had said something.
An Luxia really didn't have any problem with people knowing about her birth family and biological background, but she didn't think it was very important.
She wasn't tied to her biological family or background, and her adopted family was who she regarded to be her actually family and home.
She grew up here. This was her life. Her blood did not determine her life.
However, it seemed like other people had quite a big problem about it.
She scrolled down to find the comments blasting with people. Within half an hour, there were thousands of comments already.
'Person 1: I knew it! I had always guessed that she was from a poor family. She gives off that vibe. . . Like she comes from the lower classes.'
An Luxia raised one eyebrow and grinned softly. "That vibe?" What vibe was that vibe?
'Response to Person 1: I agree. . . She may wear good clothes and have good grades, but it can't hide the fact that she comes from a poor background.'
'Response to Person 1: Why do I smell something sour? Stop reflecting your own insecurities onto other people. I know An Luxia in person and she is very nice. Just because she wasn't born into a family as great as the one she is in now doesn't mean she gives off the "poor vibe". You don't make any sense.'
'Person 1: What do you mean by my insecurities?! What do I have to be insecure about? I am only telling the truth. And even if she is nice, it doesn't hide the fact that she comes from a bad family.'
An Luxia sighed and stopped reading the comments, looking up at Yu Xinyi, whose face was red with anger by now.
Her fingers were typing furiously across the screen, obviously trying to reply to as many comments as she could.
An Luxia smiled softly and looked down, scrolling through the long list of comments. Just as she was about to look up and tell Yu Xinyi to go to the next lecture, the screen suddenly froze.
A second later, it turned white as all the comments and words disappeared and was replaced with one sentence.
