Early the next morning, Lin Lan drove over to pick up Luo Ziling again.

As soon as he got in the car, Luo Ziling asked Lin Lan impatiently, “Is that woman going to challenge me to a martial arts match again today?”

“She’s at the base today,” Lin Lan replied succinctly.

Luo Ziling couldn’t help but frown, “But I don’t want to spar with anyone today. I need to get back to school early, I have important things to do.”

Seeing Luo Ziling’s impatient look, Lin Lan couldn’t help but get a bit angry.

What angered Lin Lan wasn’t just Luo Ziling’s bad mood as soon as they met but also another reason.

Last time she had had breakfast before coming, but Luo Ziling bought her some steamed buns. Today she deliberately skipped breakfast, thinking that Luo Ziling would surely prepare breakfast for her. The dumplings from that shop were really tasty, and she liked them a lot.

What frustrated her was that Luo Ziling didn’t buy any buns.

But she could smell the scent of steamed buns on Luo Ziling, which meant that the guy had just eaten some.

She had been looking forward to eating Luo Ziling’s steamed buns today, but since he hadn’t prepared any for her, Lin Lan naturally felt upset. Plus, Luo Ziling’s unfriendly tone when speaking had driven her to the point of anger. Once she was angry, she didn’t feel like talking, so she just focused on driving all the way.

And Luo Ziling’s mood wasn’t great either, so he wasn’t inclined to initiate conversation, resulting in silence between them for the journey.

Lin Lan had originally wanted to talk to Luo Ziling about other things, but since he wasn’t willing to speak up, she couldn’t be bothered to start a conversation.

In the awkward silence, they arrived at Dragon Rise’s base.

Lin Lan took Luo Ziling straight to the small building where Li Haiyang lived.

Upon seeing Li Haiyang, Luo Ziling still managed to smile, conducting a careful examination, providing him acupuncture treatment, and vigorously massaged him for a while. After the treatment, Li Haiyang fell into a deep sleep.

During today’s treatment, Li Haiyang didn’t say much, but Luo Ziling felt that the treatment’s effects were a little better than before, which improved his mood.

“Follow me,” Lin Lan signaled to Luo Ziling to go to the training ground after the treatment.

Luo Ziling didn’t want to go, “I’m not going. I don’t want to fight.”

“You tell Feng Huang yourself.” As Lin Lan spoke, she glared angrily at Luo Ziling and then turned to leave.

The bastard. He’s all smiles and jokes with Li Haiyang, but he treats her with such a bad attitude, showing no respect for her at all. Naturally, she was very angry.

What made her even angrier was that when she walked forward, Luo Ziling actually didn’t follow; instead, he headed towards the parking lot.

Eventually, Lin Lan stopped, stood still for a minute, and then walked toward the parking lot.

“What do you mean?” Lin Lan looked at Luo Ziling coldly.

“I have things to do today, so I need to go back early. And I’m in a bad mood,” Luo Ziling said, meeting Lin Lan’s gaze without any fear, “Take me back now. If you don’t want to, I’ll walk back on my own.”

Lin Lan didn’t respond right away, instead, she took out an ugly cellphone and dialed a number.

After the phone connected, she said directly, “He’s not willing. He says he has to go back because he has things to do, and he’s in a bad mood. He doesn’t want to compete with you.”

Lin Lan immediately agreed, saying, “Okay!”

Then she said to Luo Ziling, “Wait a moment, she will be here soon.”

Luo Ziling glared at Lin Lan and walked over to the side, where he sat down by a low wall.

Shortly after, the captain of the Dragon Rise team, who still had not shown her true face and only exposed her eyes and mouth, known by the code-name “Phoenix,” appeared in front of Luo Ziling.

“I’ll have a chat with him,” Phoenix gestured for Lin Lan to step aside for a moment.

Lin Lan nodded and turned to stride away.

“Get in the car,” Phoenix jumped into the Humvee parked nearby and started the engine.

After a moment’s thought, Luo Ziling got up and sat in the passenger seat.

Phoenix didn’t speak but floored the accelerator, driving the vehicle out of the parking lot at high speed.

She drove the car straight out of the base and, after tearing down the road for a while, pulled off onto a flat area and stopped.

“Get out,” After turning off the engine, Phoenix jumped out of the car and walked forward without looking back.

Luo Ziling felt a bit annoyed inside; he had always disliked women showing dominance in front of him.

But in the end, he still followed Phoenix.

“After being defeated by you, I realized that I still have many shortcomings, and therefore, I have been striving to improve myself,” sensing Luo Ziling approaching her, Phoenix did not turn around but coldly said with her eyes fixed ahead: “Your speed is very fast, faster than any opponent I’ve met. Only by sparring with someone with your speed can my own speed and reaction improve further. You must know that I am the captain of Dragon Rise, their brain, and a difference of just 0.1 second in my reaction time could determine the success or failure of a mission and the life or death of some people. So, I must become stronger!”

Luo Ziling agreed with Phoenix’s reasoning, but he still stubbornly retorted, “Your battles aren’t won by Combat Power alone. You have cutting-edge weapons and means beyond ordinary people’s imagination. What use is there in improving martial arts?”

“As I said, it can improve my reaction speed, enhancing my overall strength,” Phoenix, feeling her previous words were a bit like casting pearls before swine, turned her head and looked at Luo Ziling coldly: “When commanding in battle, even a slight increase in reaction speed, an order given just that bit earlier, could change the outcome of a mission.”

“Alright, I understand what you mean,” Luo Ziling nodded, “but I’m not willing to compete in martial arts with someone who does not respect me. I’ve already practiced with you a few times, but I have no interest in continuing.”

“Why do you feel that way?” Phoenix asked with puzzlement, “Just because I wear a mask?”

“That is an important reason,” Luo Ziling did not deny it.

Phoenix said nothing but reached out in front of her and pulled off the thin mask she wore on her face.

Suddenly, a very beautiful, yet cold-faced visage was revealed to Luo Ziling.

It was a beautiful woman whose actual age was indiscernible but surely no longer young, the kind whose face once seen, would surely be etched in memory.

“Because you’re too beautiful, you’re unwilling to show your true face?” Luo Ziling asked with confusion.

“I hope you can forget everything you’ve just seen. I don’t want anyone remembering my face,” Phoenix put the mask back on, then asked Luo Ziling again, “Are you now willing to spar with me?”

“Alright,” Luo Ziling agreed.

In fact, what he wanted to say was, that for the sake of you being a beautiful woman, he would not take it to heart.
