Chapter 398 - Best Decision
Aaron was silent staring at the file he had to sign. He looked confused, but Keyra's words that she no longer loved him hurt his heart. Slowly the man realized, any woman would probably do what Keyra is doing right now. Moreover, his wife had indeed asked for a divorce for a long time but he still maintained it but just ignored it.
"Are you going to give me permission to see the child when it's born?" asked Aaron in his very low voice. He seems to have lost his zest for life just because Keyra said she didn't love him.
"Yes, you have the right to meet it because you are the father," said Keyra reassuringly.
Aaron took a deep breath then exhaled slowly. The image of a happy life with Keyra and their baby occasionally flashed in his mind. But maybe it's just an illusion. Given that all of Keyra's family members no longer like him and even hate him, it seems unlikely that they will not support him if he wants to stay. There is only chaos that will occur because the man also has another wife who is also carrying his child.
"Think about it, Aaron. There's no hope between us anymore. if we get back together it will only make you happy while I am still hurt, Sonia is hurt, grandpa will also be disappointed because grandpa always wants me to separate from you. I don't even want to disappoint my family all the time." Keyra continued to persuade while looking at Aaron who was thinking.
"This is the best way for us. You live happily with Sonia who sincerely loves you. I'm sure you also have a love for her," she continued with confidence.
"Then what about you?" Aaron asked with pitying eyes on Keyra who would get the title of an unmarried woman with one child while he still had a wife. This feels unfair to Keyra.
"Keyra will remarry. She is a beautiful and kind woman. Even though she is pregnant or already has children, there must be a man who chases her and even proposes to her, accepts her as she is," Daniel said with a reassuring smile on Aaron. Ugh, the man was very relaxed. Or was he the one who proposed to Keyra?
"Don't worry about me, I will be happy after we divorce," said Keyra even though her heart would be hurt. "Think of it as your way of making me happy, your way of fixing all your mistakes. Let me go," she continued with pleading eyes.
Without thinking anymore, Aaron immediately took a pen and immediately signed the file exactly above his name that was already written on it.
Keyra breathed a sigh of relief, while Aaron immediately clenched his fists and closed his eyes as if he was controlling himself, who objected to this divorce agreement.
"Thank you," Keyea said with a smile.
"I can't refuse what is the condition of your happiness. Hopefully, there is a man better than me who will be your life partner in the future. I will never stop loving you," said Aaron with a sad look. Her eyes were bloodshot as if he was holding back tears.
"You can go now," Aaron shouted then stood up and walked away leaving Keyra and Daniel who hadn't even had time to respond.
Keyra who realized Aaron's sadness immediately stood up while calling, "Aaron!"
When his name was called, Aaron turned his head and at that time Keyra walked up to him and hugged him.
"Don't be sad, I'm sure after this you will not be lonely anymore. You still have a biological father, there is still Sonia who will always accompany you, there is a grandpa who loves you very much. And I will always pray for your mother's recovery. I will also ask daddy to free you." Keyra said still hugging Aaron.
Aaron just silently moved, then wrapped his arm around Keyra's shoulder. "You should also be happy after this separation. I'm sure some men are ready to accept you as you are."
Keyra let go of Aaron's embrace and didn't feel her tears just falling. So is Aaron. But they looked at each other and smiled as if they were relieved at this decision although it would be sad to get used to the new status later.
"You don't have to release me, because I deserve punishment," Aaron shouted.
"No," Keyra said, shaking her head. "You have given me freedom, so I must also free you. But promise not to be rude to a wife again. No matter how much anger you have, how much you hate, stay wise and don't use violence," she continued with advice.
"Thank you, Keyra...I promise I will change to be a good man. I won't disturb your peace again, but maybe I will come when our child is born and ... and complete our divorce process," Aaron said angrily, then looked down at Keyra's stomach which was still flat.
"I want to touch it one last time before it's born," Aaron pleaded with a pleading look.
"Yeah, just do it," said Keyra without the slightest objection.
Aaron touched Keyra's stomach which was still flat, then bent down to kiss it. "You have to stay healthy in there. Strengthen your mother."
"Aaron, your time is over. Please go back to the jail," the police officer shouted.
Aaron sighed then stood back up. He smiled at her then kissed her forehead. "Don't be mad, this is the last kiss," he called out later.
Keyra nodded with teary eyes and let Aaron walk away towards the jail room which was located a few meters from where she was standing.
"Oh my God, strengthen me," Keyra muttered while staring at Aaron's departure, which was increasingly invisible because he had entered another room. Even her tears didn't seem to fall just like that and someone immediately wiped them.
"Farewell will always leave scars and sadness. I'm sure you can get through all of this, I'm the first person who will support you," said Daniel, who had been watching Keyra for a long time.
"Yes, you are right. Thank you for encouraging me," Keyra replied with a warm smile. She took a deep breath then exhaled slowly. "Let's get out of here," she continued.
"Okay, I'll take you for a walk so you won't be sad anymore," Daniel said, then walked out of the police station followed by Keyra.
"Where to?" Keyra asked as she looked up at Daniel who was much taller than her. In fact, the man was more manly than Aaron or Keenan.
"For sure to a place that can make you calm and comfortable," Daniel replied with a smile, glancing at Keyra who was walking with him.
"Aren't you going to dad's office?" Keira asked again.
"No," Daniel replied, then opened the car door on the passenger side. "I told your dad that I wanted to take you for a walk," he continued.
"I just sit in the front. If I sit in the back, it gives the impression that you are like my driver," said Keyra, then opened the side door of the steering wheel and got in.
Daniel sighed. "I will indeed be your future driver one day. I will not waste this opportunity."
___
After almost an hour of driving, Daniel stopped his car near a lake that didn't look too crowded. There were only a handful of visitors and there were a few taverns near the entrance to the lake.
"It seems very cool," Keyra muttered while glancing at the atmosphere of the lake surrounded by towering trees.
"Very cool. I often come here when I'm bored," Daniel said then led Keyra to walk to a long wooden chair that could fit five people. Coincidentally, the chair was empty and right under a mango tree.
Keyra and Daniel sat on the chair while leaning on the shoulder of the chair and staring at the lake. Occasionally heard the sound of chirping wild birds flying over the lake.
"Are you feeling better now?" asked Daniel while glancing at Keyra who was still staring at the lake. once in a while the pregnant woman brushed her hair in the breeze.
"I'm relieved, but ... but it's like something is missing from me," Keyra replied with a faint smile but bent her face. "I didn't think my life would be this complicated. I'm not like mom and dad who only get married once in a lifetime. My fate is far different from Keenan, who is easy to find the right partner.. But I know it's all my fault too."
