Chapter 213 Coordinated Attacks (5)
Jake jumped to escape the flames, and then he used Mana Blade to hit the heads of those fuckers. Some of them dodged the attacks, but they had to stop their Fire Breath. As for the ones that got hit, they stopped due to the damage.
When Jake landed, he immediately used Flash, and in the next moment, he appeared while his sword was piecing the neck of one of the monsters. He immediately pulled back his sword and selected another target. Still, that one punched the ground with Fire Punch and raised a curtain of steam to block Jake's field of vision.
"I didn't expect that a monster would copy me…" Jake thought.
That didn't let Jake get flustered, though. He already knew that such a strategy was just to make the enemy hesitate. Moreover, he used Flash to cover the distance between him and that monster in a single instant, and the burst of the motion granted him enough power to pierce the beast's chest.

Jake quickly turned around and then bombarded the enemies with Mana Blades. He was being a bit wasteful with mana, but it was the best option that he had to end that encirclement, and that worked. He wounded the monsters and finished them with a few other strikes.
"I should watch my positioning better…" Jake thought.
The guards that around ran to somewhere else since they didn't know if Jake would target him next or not. That was quite rude, but it was better than having an audience to see him fight. Jake looked to the East and saw some guards fighting the remaining apes that were invading the city. He looked in the opposite direction and saw some people trying to leave the place using the opposite gate. The streets were filled with corpses of monsters and people, so it was hard to imagine that many of them had survived. Meanwhile, the castle of the town was on fire. Still, it was resisting… it looked like the monsters were focusing on that instead of following those that were escaping.
"Let's check that place…" Jake thought.
Jake found some revengeful waves on his path to the castle, but they weren't a problem. He noticed that the monsters were a lot more scattered than he thought… they were causing damage to the city as a whole and making the inhabitants run away, but they weren't chasing them. It was more like they didn't want them to get in the way or offer resistance. Nevertheless, Jake found an actual army facing some soldiers near the castle. The whole structure was surrounded by monsters, and while it was on fire, most places were far from falling apart, even though the apes could make that happen.
"Well now… What should I do?" Jake wondered. "Fighting that army of monsters when they were surrounding the castle will be difficult."
Jake didn't want to count on others to complete the quest, but he knew that unless some guilds came to help, it would take a while to defeat all the monsters. The city and the castle will probably fall even if Jake wins, and the mission will end in failure…
Just when Jake was thinking about that, the apes broke the defensive formation and reached the garden of the castle. Once that happened, all the others began to enter using the same path while they fought the few guards on their path.
"It seems they wanted something from the castle… Regardless, this is my chance," Jake thought.
Jake could attack the back of all the monsters since they were on a single spot. The first enemies noticed his approach and turned around to face him, but Jake summoned his dark flames and turned it into a wheel that rolled toward them. The monsters didn't fear the flames, but they regretted that because the dark flames began to eat away their flesh.
"... it isn't enough to kill them instantly," Jake thought while furrowing his eyebrows.
Although the flames were enough to kill the monsters that used fire, Jake finished them off while swinging his sword around wildly. There was no skill there, only speed and strength and brutality. Some monsters tried to resist, but Jake split them in two while smirking from ear to ear. That was the fighting style that he liked…
In the blink of an eye, Jake reached the monsters that had reached the entrance of the castle. He could see some guards alive, but they barely could move, so he couldn't count on their help. Hopefully, Reinforcements on the monster's side won't come too soon and get in Jake's way. It would be terrible if he gets surrounded by two forces.
When Jake reached the castle's interior, he saw a sea of corpses again, some guards were inside and tried to fight, but they didn't resist for long. All of a sudden, Jake heard the sound of high voltage across the entire castle… It seemed that someone used lightning magic, but he had yet to see someone knowing that kind of spell. It certainly didn't belong to the apes.
"Getting hit by that kind of thing will leave me completely vulnerable…" Jake thought. "I didn't have the chance to level up mine Electric Resistance…"

Regardless, Jake reached the throne room of the castle, and after seeing some corpses and cloaked individuals with wands, he confirmed that they were the court wizards. He also got their equipment since it seemed useful.. it was his payment for trying to avenge them.
After a couple of minutes, Jake reached one of the last rooms of the building that had a massive iron door, and from there, he saw a massive ape with golden armor carrying a bag filled with probably some artifacts.
