Chapter 159
Chapter 159: Taking revenge?
The next day Ozul woke up to the sight of both Cyril and Mark murmuring at a distance with their backs facing him.
He jumped down the tree as the duo turned towards him after hearing the noise. They looked like they had recovered from the internal injuries. Both their faces contained hostility towards Ozul as they glared at him.
Their intense hatred was also the reason that Ozul had woken up early. He couldn’t ignore such hard feelings thrown directly at him.
Clara couldn’t sleep all night. She did not need to sleep in the first place, so she just meditated on the tree branch. Her eyes opened when she felt the disturbed Mana in the air.
Cyril and Mark had discussed what they wanted to do already. Even if Ozul did not wake up now, they would have gone directly for the kill.
In their previous confrontation, they did not have the opportunity to use their strongest attacks against him. They felt that beating him together using their strongest attacks would be as easy as pie. They just had to maintain their distance this time.
Both of them flared their Mana at the same time as the air seemed to freeze around them. Winds stopped because of the sudden pressure before the birds on the trees flew away.
.....
Without explaining or shouting madly as Cyril did before, the duo started to chant simultaneously. Blue and red Mana started to form around the air, creating two beasts in the air.
Once again, both of them had a similar spell, with only their Elements being different. A strange-looking fish with cuts all around its body appeared above Mark, while a hyena appeared above Cyril.
It was as if they had summoned those Beasts. But the applications with Mana were as vast as Mages could think, so this was also a way to shape their Original Spells.
Although they were only ethereal in shape, the Beasts moved around like they had a consciousness of their own.
Unlike how Ozul looked at this scene with indifference, Clara was almost suffocating due to the Spells’ sheer pressure from two Rank-8 Mages.
She jumped back a few more meters while worryingly glancing at Ozul. She did not know how strong he was. Just like others, him being a Rank-9 Mage did not make any sense, and if he were any lower, then facing against two Rank-8 Mages at the same time would be disastrous!
“So... you don’t want to lead me to your base?” Ozul while slightly tilting his head to the side. Although he could feel the pure anger towards him, he could not know the reason for every feeling.
Knowing others’ emotions made Ozul almost understand their thought process, but it was only to a general extent.
“What? Afraid now?!” Cyril asked with a dangerous smile on his face. Thinking that Ozul was afraid, he felt his lost self-esteem coming back. He could not rest easy the previous day, knowing that a person who looked like a kid not even 25 years old had reduced him to such a pathetic state.
“Hmm... whatever,” Ozul shrugged. He did not understand what had gotten into their minds, and he did not want to waste his time trying to find out either. So, all he wanted was to get this over with as quickly as he could.
No matter what they did, Ozul had decided to take them with him. So they had no choice but to be his guide now.
The two Beasts which floated a few meters above the duo suddenly looked on the ground. Precisely at Ozul before diving down with an astonishing speed.
The Beasts were gigantic enough to envelop around a whole building, but they were much more dangerous than they appeared to be. And Clara could feel her legs shake from the aura of these Beasts.
She wanted to help Ozul, but her body just wouldn’t move, no matter how much she tried.
Instead of separately attacking Ozul one by one, the two Beasts looked at each other before one sped towards the left while the other to the right.
While the Beasts appeared to be conscious of their own actions, Ozul knew that such was not the case by looking at Cyril and Mark.
They had their attention devoted to the Beasts. Their eyes followed the Beasts’ every movement.
Ozul concluded that this Spell did not just summon Beasts to fight for them but created something like Elemental Golems, which they could control from a distance.
As the fish and the hyena attacked Ozul from each side, he generated a giant blade with the Ball of Purity and cut them before they could even come near him.
He expected it to end right there, but contrary to his expectations, the Beasts did not dissipate when cut in half. Instead, their lost part of Mana just regenerated before they jumped right at Ozul.
Without any other choice, Ozul had to create a shield around him with the Ball of Purity.
*Booom*
The two Beasts hit the shield, which created an ear-splitting blast, razing the ground around Ozul. One side had the ground cracked with the fire burning on the ground, while the other side had everything damped.
The only similarity on both sides was the pure destruction that the Beasts had caused.
Ozul remained there unperturbed at this. The Ball of Purity had absorbed all the shock. Only the winds had reached him.
Although Cyril and Mark were both shocked to see him unharmed even while facing their strongest attacks, they did not waver. Both of them closed their eyes as the Beasts that had dissipated retook shape with the scattered Mana.
They did not have to cast the Spell again, which meant that they could keep it going as long as they did not run out of Mana.
‘Such a Spell is truly frightening if the range is long enough for the casters to keep their control,’ Ozul concluded.
He hadn’t thought much about these two before, but it turned out they were Rank-8 Mages for a reason.
No matter how many times Ozul destroyed the Beasts, they would regenerate before attacking him. This continued until he realized that Cyril and Mark’s load to provide the Mana was also low since the Beasts were reformed by the scattered Mana from the previous attack each time.
He had planned to let them attack a couple of times before they exhausted their Mana. But now it seemed that they would be at this for days if he did not do something about it.
At this point, Clara had noticed that Ozul wasn’t getting affected by the constant barrage of the Beasts. So she calmed down before moving back even further.
The area around Ozul had become a barren land. The trees were reduced to ashes while the grass simply disappeared in thin air.
Even when this Spell seemed impossible to stop, Ozul knew that this Spell also had a weakness, just like everything. And in this case, this weakness was Cyril and Mark themselves.
To others, it might have been difficult to attack the duo who had also distanced themselves, expecting Ozul to realize this eventually.
However, it was their bad luck that they were up against Ozul.
Blocking another attack, he ran towards the duo without even letting the dust settle. When they saw Ozul running towards them, the duo immediately reformed the Beasts and tried to obstruct his path.
The Beasts hit him from the front together, creating a stream to rise out since both fire and water had collided this time.
At the same time, the duo ran back to maintain their distance.
However, they did not expect that Ozul did not stop for even a moment. The shield just protected him while he sped towards them. However, their distance was shortened because of that small interval.
They had thought that the attack would buy them some time, but their hearts dropped to see Ozul closing in.
Unlike Ozul, they had to stop and focus on another attack, so they did not have any other choice but to run for their lives.
They regretted again putting their lives at Ozul’s mercy when they could have probably run away with a better chance of succeeding.
At this point, they wondered if Ozul would forgive them if they behaved. But they did not stop running since the fear of dying would not let them.
When Ozul saw that they had no intentions to stop and fight him head-on, he sighed before generating the Ball of Purity.
It turned into 8 thin but long needles. From afar, some might not even notice it because of their slimness.
Mark and Cyril could not afford to look behind them once, much less notice the thin needles.
With a single thought, they shot at the duo, desperately running for their lives.
*Urgggh!* *Eueekk!*
They let out a cry of pain before falling on their face. The needles had pierced the muscles of their limbs. A small trail of blood came out of the small holes from their legs and arms as they squirmed in pain.
The needles had pierced through, creating small holes in their limbs.
They stopped the bleeding using Mana before Ozul caught up to them. He stood near while looking down at them.
Mark and Cyril were Rank-8 Mages who could topple down cities, but their pathetic state at this moment was only because Ozul was stronger than them.
It proved true that power was everything in this world.
Even when in this state, Cyril was bitter about this whole situation. He bit his lips while looking at the ground as he said, “What are you waiting for? Just kill already.”
