Chapter 57
Chapter 57 - Pearl
At Glento Airport, two rows of bodyguards stood with solemn expressions, watching as a private plane slowly descended onto the tarmac. In Castoace, owning a private plane was a symbol of high status. Even in the 21st century, there weren't many people in the country who could afford such a luxury. The cost of even the least expensive private plane exceeded 100 million RMB, with annual maintenance fees reaching into the tens of millions. Without assets in the billions, one wouldn't even consider purchasing a private jet.
As the plane came to a stop, the bodyguards swiftly positioned themselves at the cabin's exit. A young girl in a black suit emerged first, scanning the area before stepping aside. Then, a girl who seemed as if she stepped out of a painting appeared, her features—eyebrows, eyes, and lips—delicate and refined.
Lin Rou'er surveyed her surroundings with a calm gaze before descending the stairway. The bodyguards, dressed in black, quickly formed a protective circle around her. Settling into the custom Lincoln, Rou'er turned her attention to a young girl beside her, who wore gold-rimmed glasses.
“May, how is my grandfather?” Rou'er inquired.
“He regained consciousness an hour ago. After examination by several medical experts, his vital signs are all positive,” replied May, one of Rou'er's secretaries.
“Is there anything else I should know?” Rou'er asked, nodding.
She was already aware of her grandfather's condition.
“Mrs. Zhou is hosting a charity banquet tonight. The invitation has been delivered to your residence,” May reported, consulting her notebook with diligence.
Though May could remember these details without noting them down, the importance of Rou'er's schedule to her security meant that everything had to be meticulously recorded.
“Anything else?”
“Ye Hao has been detained by the Bayview Precinct One police station.”
“Ye Hao?” Rou'er paused, taken aback by the name.
“Ye Hao is the student who saved the Master. You instructed me to keep an eye on him,” May reminded her gently.
“For what reason?” Rou'er's mind conjured up an image of Ye Hao.
“I started investigating as soon as I heard about the incident involving Ye Hao, but I haven't received any results yet,” May admitted promptly.
“We'll head to the Bayview Precinct One police station now,” Rou'er declared with resolve.
While Lin Rou'er was on her way to the police station, May received a phone call.
“Miss, I've looked into the situation. It was Wei Tuo who orchestrated this whole affair.”
“Wei Tuo?”
“The Wei family may be a minor clan in Glento, but Wei Tuo's mother belongs to the Wang family.”
“Inform Chief Jiang about this,” Lin Rou'er said with a steely gaze.
Ye Hao was her grandfather's lifesaver. Offending the Wang family was of little consequence to her.
?Jiang Gaoyi, the Bayview Precinct One police chief, acted promptly upon receiving a call from Lin Rou'er's secretary and headed straight for the station.
As Chief Jiang made his way to Bayview Precinct One, he sensed the gravity of the situation.
Upon his arrival, he coincidentally encountered Lin Rou'er's motorcade.
“Miss Lin,” exclaimed Jiang Gaoyi, taken aback.
He was inwardly astounded.
Just how powerful was Ye Hao's background?
And why would Lin Rou'er personally make an appearance?
“Chief Jiang, would it be possible for me to visit my friend inside?” Lin Rou'er inquired.
“Miss Lin, you jest,” replied Jiang Gaoyi with a smile. “Please, after you.”
He knew he must show due respect to Lin Rou'er.
After all, the Lin family had connections with many of Glento's elite officials.
Chief Jiang's presence put the officers at Bayview Precinct One on edge.
“Where's Wang Zhen?”
“Captain Wang,” an officer mumbled, too nervous to speak clearly.
Jiang Gaoyi let out a cold snort and made his way to the interrogation room.
He had already pieced together the facts surrounding Ye Hao's case during his journey.
Wei Tuo had set Wang Zhen to falsely accuse Ye Hao.
That such an incident could occur under his watch infuriated Jiang Gaoyi.
As he approached the interrogation room, he overheard Wang Zhen's voice.
“Ye Hao, this is the ninth veil. If you refuse to sign the confession, your death will be on your own head.”
Hearing this, Jiang Gaoyi's face darkened.
?Cursing under his breath, he forcefully kicked the door open.
“Who's there?” Wang Zhen, caught mid-sentence, saw Jiang Gaoyi's silhouette.
“Chief Jiang,” Wang Zhen blurted out, completely bewildered.
He was unaware of how Jiang Gaoyi had come to know about the matter.
Jiang Gaoyi had no time to deal with Wang Zhen, as he rushed to Ye Hao's side.
Accompanied by her secretary and bodyguard, Lin Rou'er also arrived at Ye Hao's side.
“It's a chili mixture,” the bodyguard Xiaolan remarked, her expression darkening.
Jiang Gaoyi quickly removed the gauze from Ye Hao's face and doused it with a bucket of water.
“Go get more buckets of water,” Jiang Gaoyi instructed while continuing to pour.
Lin Rou'er gave a glance to the bodyguards beside her.
Both bodyguards left swiftly.
Even after Jiang Gaoyi had emptied the bucket of cold water, the bodyguards had not returned.
Jiang Gaoyi felt Ye Hao's face, which was burning hot.
?”Call emergency services immediately,” Jiang Gaoyi commanded in a stern voice.
“There's no need,” Ye Hao interjected, opening his eyes, which were now intensely red.
The water had already provided significant relief, and his body was instinctively healing the damage.
“The chili mixture could burn your eyes and skin,” Jiang Gaoyi cautioned urgently.
Just then, a bodyguard came running in with two buckets of mineral water.
Realizing that filling a bucket with water would take too long, a bodyguard had dashed into a convenience store to purchase two buckets of mineral water.
“Open the mineral water and wash his face right away. Don't stop until the doctor arrives,” Jiang Gaoyi said upon seeing the mineral water, and he quickly opened a bottle.
“Let's help them,” Lin Rou'er urged in a grave tone.
Xiaolan and May, the secretary, quickly knelt to assist in opening the bottles of mineral water.
“Check if you can find any ice-cold mineral water,” Jiang Gaoyi suggested suddenly.
“It's truly unnecessary,” Ye Hao insisted, just as his handcuffs snapped off.
In an instant, Xiaolan positioned herself protectively in front of Lin Rou'er, eyeing Ye Hao with caution.
Xiaolan, too, could break handcuffs.
But Ye Hao had only just been subjected to severe torture.
How does he still have the energy to do this?
Ye Hao disregarded the astonished looks from those around him and firmly grasped the rope that was binding him.
The rope snapped instantly.
Wang Zhen pointed at Ye Hao, his face a picture of disbelief, and asked, “How did you manage that?”
“If I set my mind to it, I can achieve it,” Ye Hao replied, fixing Wang Zhen with a gaze that held a piercing chill.
“What are you planning to do?” Wang Zhen involuntarily stepped back, unsettled by Ye Hao's intense stare.
“I can't disregard the law at this moment, but let me make one thing clear to you—I will kill you eventually,” Ye Hao pronounced each word with deliberate intensity.
