Chapter 65
Chapter 65 - Ye Hao's Worth
Inside the box was a Vacheron Constantin diamond watch.
When Ye Hao slipped the watch onto his wrist, he couldn't deny that Lin Rou'er had impeccable taste.
The watch was refined yet understated, elegant without being ostentatious.
“Sister Rou'er, thank you.” Ye Hao accepted the gift graciously.
Lin Rou'er had been generous to him, gifting him the watch, and he knew she must be in need of a favor.
?After some time spent drinking, Lin Rou'er broached the subject, “Brother, I need your help with something.”
“Go ahead.”
“I've been targeted by the killer organization Yama recently.”
Ye Hao squinted thoughtfully before asking, “Is Yama formidable?”
Lin Rou'er glanced at Xiaolan.
After a moment of reflection, Xiaolan responded, “From the intelligence I've gathered, Yama boasts three to five eight-star experts.”
“Are there no Innate experts within Yama?”
Ye Hao's inquiry took Xiaolan by surprise. “Even the Temple of Heavenly Harmony has few Innate experts,” she replied.
“That means Innate experts are quite rare in this world,” Ye Hao mused, stroking his chin.
He was well aware that in about half a month, he would reach the first level of Body Refining. By then, not even the Innate experts of the martial arts realm would pose a threat to him.
Typically, a cultivator at the first level of Body Refining would be on par with an Innate expert.
However, Ye Hao's Body Refining level was far from ordinary. His physical fortitude was several times that of his peers, and the transformation by Divine Blood had granted him unique abilities.
With all these elements in play, it would be surprising if an Innate Master could best him. Ye Hao felt confident he could hold his own against an Innate Master.
“An Innate Master is considered a national treasure,” Xiaolan affirmed.
“Do you know the location of Yama's stronghold?” Ye Hao inquired after a pause.
“Why do you ask?”
“I intend to eliminate Yama.”
Xiaolan, shocked, exclaimed, “You can't be serious?”
“I'm dead serious,” Ye Hao retorted with an eye roll.
“Are you a nine-star master?” Xiaolan suddenly wondered, a new realization dawning on her.
However, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.
Even a nine-star master wouldn't dare to infiltrate Yama's stronghold alone.
“No,” Ye Hao said, shaking his head gently.
Ye Hao's abilities couldn't be neatly categorized by the Acquired realm.
“I knew there couldn't be a nine-star master so young,” Xiaolan said, relieved.
Ye Hao smiled, turning to Lin Rou'er. “I can protect you, but I can't be by your side at all times.”
“Even several eight-star masters would struggle to defeat my bodyguards in a short time. My concern is being ambushed during business events or public appearances,” Lin Rou'er explained in a soft voice.
“If that's the situation, then there's no problem,” Ye Hao assured her with a nod.
“Brother, thank you,” Lin Rou'er said with a smile.
“Don't mention it.”
“I have a charity auction to attend tonight at eight,” Lin Rou'er mentioned, her face flushing with embarrassment.
“Then have May pick me up early,” Ye Hao suggested with a smile. “Honestly, riding in a private car is so much more comfortable than a taxi.”
“Brother, which car do you like? I'll give it to you,” Lin Rou'er offered quietly.
“I can't accept something so valuable,” Ye Hao declined politely.
So, Lin Rou'er dropped the subject.
“Ye Hao, do you know how much this Rolls-Royce costs?” May asked with a smile as she drove him back to Riverdale College.
“Roughly eight million yuan,” Ye Hao replied, aware of the car's general price.
“This car has been customized. It's actually worth about ten million yuan,” May revealed, then added, “The Vacheron Constantin diamond watch you're wearing is valued at half the price of this car.”
Ye Hao was taken aback.
That's when he realized why Lin Rou'er hadn't discussed his compensation.
She had already paid five million yuan!
“This is far too valuable,” Ye Hao protested, attempting to remove the watch.
“Miss spent two hours selecting this watch this morning. She would be quite displeased if you took it off,” May cautioned.
Nevertheless, Ye Hao removed the watch.
May didn't accept the watch but instead inquired, “Xiaolan told me you're an eight-star expert, is that true?”
“It's roughly the same,” Ye Hao said, skirting around the subject.
“Do you have any idea how much an eight-star expert earns annually?” May inquired with a smile.
“I don't.”
“Xiaolan is a seven-star expert, and she makes twenty million a year. An eight-star expert's salary is double that,” May declared, clearly enjoying the dramatic effect of her words.
“Then a nine-star expert's salary must be over a hundred million?”
“You can't just hire a nine-star expert with money; you also need a certain level of status,” May explained with a hint of melancholy.
“Does your mistress not qualify?”
“With her current experience, she probably couldn't even afford an eight-star expert.”
“Okay.” Ye Hao now understood where he stood.
He confidently strapped on the Vacheron Constantin watch.
And indeed, the watch was quite stunning.
Leng Xue was on her way to the nearby United Market when a particular license plate caught her eye, leaving her incredulous.
“Isn't that Lin Rou'er's car?” she mused, pulling over to the side of the road.
Seconds later, she was astonished to see Ye Hao.
What was Ye Hao doing in Lin Rou'er's car?
Could there be a connection between Ye Hao and the Lin family?
Leng Xue recalled that Tang Pianpian had mentioned the previous day that Ye Hao had been taken away by the local police. She hadn't reported it to the school authorities immediately because she had her own influential connections.
After much deliberation, Leng Xue called her cousin, only to be surprised to learn that the matter had already been handled.
Since Ye Hao was alright, Leng Xue didn't pry further.
Yet, it seemed Ye Hao had some involvement with the Lin family.
As soon as Ye Hao reached the school gate, he received a call from Leng Xue.
After answering, he looked around and quickly spotted Leng Xue's car.
He opened the door and got in.
“Miss Leng, what can I do for you?”
“I'm heading to United Market for some shopping. You can help me carry my bags.”
Ye Hao was at a loss for words.
What were the odds?
But when Leng Xue probed about his connection to the Lin family, Ye Hao realized that she hadn't asked him along just to help with her shopping.
“I saved Lin Tu before,” Ye Hao said softly.
“Was it Lin Tu who was in the car accident?” Leng Xue suddenly recalled the incident from two months prior when Ye Hao had been hospitalized for saving someone.
“Yes.”
“No wonder the Lin family stepped in to help you,” Leng Xue remarked, her tone shifting. “However, I'd prefer it if you kept your distance from the Lin family.”
“You appear to have a complex identity yourself,” Ye Hao commented with a smile.
Leng Xue must have had some notable status; how else could she recognize Lin Rou'er's license plate?
“Do you realize how much danger you're in right now?” Leng Xue, noticing Ye Hao's focus on her identity, couldn't help but express her frustration.
