Chapter 75 Unexpected Change
The process of the class change was almost completed and Arthur could see the light around him dim down as well.
~humm~
A faint humming sound was heard a minute later, after which the blinding light disappeared. What replaced it was the familiar darkness, but it didn't seem dark to Arthur.
"So this is the effect of Dragon's Insight." Arthur could see everything around him clearly even if it was dark.
He tried to look around for his pet but didn't see it.
'It should have been unsummoned.' Arthur reckoned.
Upon checking the option for his pet beast, he saw it to be there.
<Pets>
——
1. Dragon Horn Beetle
Level: 8
Type: Insect/Draconid
——
He could even see the image of the beast having changed.
"It grew bigger." Arthur noted.
The beetle's size had increased by about 50% and its appearance had also changed a bit. Its brown carapace had changed to become a mix of black and yellow. And underneath this carapace, Arthur could even see iridescent blue wings.
'It didn't have wings before… it couldn't fly. I guess it can now.' It was a good addition to the beast's capabilities.
It being able to fly meant that the beetle would be able to help Arthur a lot more than before. After all, originally it was limited by its mobility. But with the evolution, its stats had risen enough for it to be able to compete with Arthur.
Another big change was in its horn.
The Dragon Horn Beetle's horn now looked like that of a dragon's. It was ridged and sharp, looking like it could pierce through a rhino's skin with ease.
"Wait… is that… Runes?" Arthur noticed that there was something on the horn of the beetle.
He zoomed in on the image and saw that there were indeed runes at the base of the horn. They went around the circumference of the horn, and were in one single ring.
'These runes look like the one's in the tomb here… they aren't the normal magic runes.' Arthur could differentiate and knew that they were special.
Though he didn't know why runes would be added to a beast.
'Strange…' Arthur thought before looking at more notifications that were appearing.
>The class change has been completed successfully<
>Player Arzhur is now eligible to obtain the Hidden Stat: Synchronization<
"Huh… what's this?" Arthur hadn't heard of a stat like this ever before.
>Player Arzhur has obtained the Hidden Stat: Synchronization!<
>The Synchronization has been set to 15% by default<
>Warning! The Current Synchronization is incompatible with the Dragomancer class!<
>The Synchronization will be readjusted!<
>Synchronization has been increased to 50%<
"50%? This isn't like a normal stat." Arthur was starting to find it strange but he didn't know this was merely the start.
~tremble~
A second later, a strange wave of energy washed over his body.
"ARGH!" Arthur cried out in pain.
~thud~
He collapsed to his knees, as a head wrenching pain rose. He couldn't think straight and didn't know why this was happening.
'What the hell… happened… is there an error?' Arthur couldn't figure out.
One shouldn't feel pain like this in a game even if the game allowed one to feel pain. The amount of pain one could feel was set at a certain limit, though the players didn't know exactly what it was.
It was an understandable thing too, as the company wouldn't want the players getting hurt by the pain.
After all, even if the pain was virtual, it was still being transmitted to the brain in the real world. If enough pain over a long period was given, the brain would certainly develop damage to it. Thus in order to prevent that, an unknown limitation was set.
>Warning! Synchronization is still not sufficient for the Dragomancer Class!<
>Attempting to increase Synchronization!<
>Synchronization has risen to 51%<
Arthur watched the endless waves of notifications appear while waves of pain assaulted his body.
'This… just what is happening… It wasn't supposed to be like this…' Arthur felt incredibly lost.
He once again felt the despair that he had felt upon dying and being unable to do anything.
>Synchronization has risen to 52%<
>Synchronization has risen to 53%<
>Synchronization has risen to 54%<
>Synchronization has risen to 55%<
.
.
.
.
>Synchronization has risen to 60%<
"UGH! NO MORE!" Arthur let out a cry.
>Warning! Player vitals are unstable!<
This time a major warning popped up.
Such a warning was rarely sent unless the Player was truly in distress. The grounds for a warning like this to appear were only if the player was truly getting sick or if his body in the real world was getting affected by something.
>Synchronization has risen to 62%<
"Stop! I said stop!" Arthur shouted.
>Warning! Player vitals are unstable!<
>Warning threshold has been crossed!<
>Player is advised to log out.<
"Do it! Log out!" Arthur shouted immediately.
Upon his command, the log out window appeared. Arthur watched it, feeling like the time had slowed down to a halt.
'Move… Why are you not working!?' Arthur realized that the window was not responding.
>Log out has failed!<
"WHAT!? HOW'S THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!?" Arthur screamed at the top of his lungs.
>Synchronization has risen to 65%<
While Arthur writhed in pain the synchronization kept on rising, it simply wouldn't stop not matter how much he shouted.
>Data anomaly detected!<
Then came a notification that turned his entire body cold.
>Data Anomaly will be isolated!<
>Player Arzhur is advised to wait until the anomaly is resolved!<
"You're telling me to wait!?" Arthur couldn't believe his eyes.
>Synchronization has risen to 67%<
Arthur collapse entirely to the ground, his body trembling in pain nonstop.
At this point, Arthur knew he only had one option left.
"Contact the Admin! Player emergency!" Arthur ordered.
>Error! Connection failure detected!<
>Admins cannot be contacted while the Data Anomaly is still present!<
'Why…' Arthur was feeling lost now.
His eyes were bloodshot and seemed to be changing. From his normal circular pupils, they were now elongating into long slits!
