Chapter 96 High Quality Product And Blacksmith Offer
In Morpheus Online, it was difficult to tell the progress of a skill when one was trying to learn it new. There was no progress bar and one could only guess it from a few indirect pointers.
The players had spent a long time trying to figure them out, but even after six years, their progress had not been that good. While they had indeed managed to figure some things out, the hidden sides of the skills growth were still unknown.
But one of the things that they had indeed managed to figure out was that as one was trying to learn a skill, any task that they were attempting to do would become smoother. Or the success rate might increase by a minor amount.
Normally this would be very difficult to perceive, but in the case of Arthur, since he had obtained the guidance of the Blacksmith, the bonus he got after succeeding was enough to push it over to the next level.
"If it really is that, then I'm certainly lucky." Arthur was pleased, regardless.
"Now, to take a look at the finished product." Arthur said before using his skill. "Dragon's Insight!"
>Dragon's Insight has been activated successfully<
——
Name: Low Quality Throwing Dire Claw Knife
[Attack: 10-12] [Durability: 100/100] [Unrepairable]
[Equipping Requirement: Level 7, No class restrictions]
[Passive Effect: 2% Chance of causing bleed when hitting a target. 5% chance of causing bleed when hitting a vital spot.]
——
The first knife low quality knife that he had made looked to be decent.
'It's base attack is actually higher than the Black Tear Short Sword.' Arthur was surprised by the simple increase in its attack power.
But then again, the level requirement for it was also higher, which meant that it was not something that was meant to be equipped by a starting player. The best part though, was the passive effect of bleed.
"Hmm, 2% for normal hits and 5% for vital spot hits. It's okay for a weapon at this point. It is still considered a newbie weapon due to being below level 10, after all." Arthur assessed.
But these was just the first of the throwing knives. There were still two more types left.
>Dragon's Insight has been activated successfully<
——
Name: Mid Quality Throwing Dire Claw Knife
[Attack: 11-13] [Durability: 100/100] [Unrepairable]
[Equipping Requirement: Level 7, No class restrictions]
[Passive Effect: 4% Chance of causing bleed when hitting a target. 7% chance of causing bleed when hitting a vital spot.]
——
>Dragon's Insight has been activated successfully<
——
Name: High Quality Throwing Dire Claw Knife
[Attack: 12-14] [Durability: 100/100] [Unrepairable]
[Equipping Requirement: Level 7, No class restrictions]
[Passive Effect: 5% Chance of causing bleed when hitting a target. 10% chance of causing bleed when hitting a vital spot.]
——
Arthur used Dragon's Insight twice in a row and saw the stats of the mid and high quality knives.
"Rise in the attack power and the passive effect chance." Arthur said upon seeing their stats. "10% chance of causing bleed when hitting vital spot is very good. I think even for level 20 weapons, it would be rare have something at this level." He analyzed.
Arthur now had two low quality, three mid quality and one high quality Throwing Dire claw Knives. While they had a higher attack than the Black Tear Short Sword, they also had the restriction of being a ranged weapon.
One could always use them as a melee weapon, but their effectiveness would fall and would not be what they were made for. Still, Arthur didn't mind and having obtained Dietrich, he liked having a few spare weapons.
"While they are technically consumables if I collect them again, they will still be fine." Arthur muttered. "I will be able to use them until they break entirely."
All the Throwing Dire Claw knives had a special condition attached to them which was the Unrepairable condition. It was applied to weapons that couldn't be repaired due to the constraints set by the materials they were made from.
Since Arthur had made them from the claws of a Giant Dire Sewer Rat, they weren't the same as metal weapons that could be repaired by a blacksmith. Once the claws that made up the blade broke, there would be no repairing them.
Of course, Artur didn't mind that. Having full durability, he reckoned they would last them for a decent amount of time.
'I don't intend to use them for long anyways. They'll become obsolete in a while.' Arthur thought.
Having finished his work, Arthur stored the throwing knives in his satchel before going to the Blacksmith.
"Oh? You're done already?" the Blacksmith was surprised to see that Arthur was already out.
"Yes. You're guidance was helpful in my work." Arthur said before showing the man his results.
"Is this what you made… Hmm, they are decent for a greenhorn like you." The Blacksmith said after looking at them.
He examined the High Quality Throwing Dire Claw Knife for a bit before looking at Arthur.
"I think you might have a talent for this occupation." The Blacksmith said, much to Arthur's surprise.
"I do?" Arthur asked.
"Indeed." The Blacksmith nodded his head. "If you ever wish to try it out, you can head to Bezel City and go to the Fyke Smithy. If you demonstrate your skill there, they might just take you in as a trainee." He explained.
"I'll keep that in mind." Arthur was hoping for a quest notification originally, but it didn't come. 'I guess that was to be expected. Secondary occupation classes can only be taken when one had reached Level 30.' He thought.
The occupation of a blacksmith was something that Arthur wouldn't mind taking as it opened him up to a lot of possibilities.
'Though if I am to pursue that, I may as well pursue the best of the best. Normal smithy won't be enough for me.' Arthur thought to himself.
His ambitions were greater than his past life, thus he needed to act accordingly. There was no way he would be satisfied with the basic Blacksmith job.
