Chapter 231: Master's Plan
Chapter 231: Master's Plan
Mi Xiaolin was indeed desperate.
While they were busy with internal power struggles and quarrels, who could have imagined that Zhong Yi had been observing all along?
Zhong Yi was not alone; he had old friends within the company…
This type of nouveau riche, who had been alive for who knows how long and loved making friends and showing loyalty, was definitely a troublemaker. Even Chu Ge’s mother, Wu Xiuyun, was cautious around Zhong Yi, possibly because he had connections with some high-ranking leaders. People like him wouldn’t willingly be assimilated; you could only maintain a certain distance and “keep an eye on” them at most.
If even Chu Ge’s mother acted this way, let alone Mi Xiaolin and her group of subordinates.
One had no idea who he had helped or favored in the past; someone’s own grandfather might have been friends with him. Not everyone in the company was on one side; there were many who disliked the current management. Du Lianfeng and Qi Chengtai had some diehard supporters who were just waiting to cause trouble.
As a result, just as Mi Xiaolin was preparing to finish off the two vegetative patients, Zhong Yi swooped in and snatched them away from under her nose. She didn’t even know who leaked the information.
While it was not a big deal that the patients were rescued, these two were formerly key figures in the company, and they knew too much about their dubious affairs. Once they regained consciousness and switched sides, it would definitely deal a devastating blow to them.
Modern medicine couldn’t awaken these two vegetative patients. Originally, they could have dealt with the situation slowly, but now that the couple had arrived in the city, who knew if they could be treated… The moment Mi Xiaolin saw Chu Ge and Qiu Wuji, her heart sank. She realized things had taken a dangerous turn.
So, she approached Chu Ge right away, trying to probe the matter and also attempting to coerce him into cooperating. However, their conversation soured after just a few sentences.
Different paths could not lead to the same goal!
“Zhong Yi placed the two individuals in Zheng Xiu Lan’s hospital and secretly informed the police to keep watch. We’ve refrained from making any reckless moves,” a certain villa, near the French windows, Mi Xiaolin sipped red wine, gazing at the night scene with a distant expression, sighing softly, “But now that these two have shown up, we have no choice but to take action.”
“It’s all because of your stupidity, you foolish woman!” A burly man with a beard by her side pointed his spear-like finger at her and scolded, “Back then, if you had just killed them outright and returned, none of this nonsense would have happened. Instead, you eagerly brought them back, and now the situation has deteriorated thanks to your idiocy!”
Mi Xiaolin cooed, “Oh, Lei Jiangyong, you’re so farsighted. Why didn’t you take action when I first brought them back? And now you’re blaming me?”
Lei Jiangyong, the burly man, held back for a moment before sneering, “You brought them back, of course we don’t want such a powerful force to be damaged. It’s best if they can be treated. Who knew you, this foolish woman, wouldn’t be able to resist and started encroaching on others’ territory, making things even more uncontrollable!”
Mi Xiaolin also sneered, “You make it sound better than it actually is. It’s hard to say who started encroaching first.”
Lei Jiangyong glared angrily, but ultimately refrained from further arguing.
Everyone was the same; who was blaming whom? It was a struggle among wolves, and not just limited to the two of them. To be honest, the atmosphere was like this among them. If you had a conscience, you would just watch others take the initiative, and in the end, you’d be the one who suffered losses.
In situations like these, it was already hard to determine who was right or wrong.
Despite still being frustrated, Lei Jiangyong shifted his criticism from a different angle, “And how did you talk to that writer, Chu Ge? You didn’t even get halfway through the enticement before resorting to threats. I think he’s right; even if you tried seducing him, it might have worked better than this!”
“Do you really think that would work? The woman around him is much prettier than me, and most likely still a virgin,” Mi Xiaolin calmly remarked, “Enticement? That Xia Junjie from the Xia family handed him a check for a million yuan, and he didn’t even spare it a glance. This type of person isn’t driven by money.”
Lei Jiangyong said coldly, “I don’t believe there are men these days who aren’t interested in beauty or money. It’s just that you didn’t understand his needs.”
“It’s a matter of reputation. What author doesn’t want to become famous? How many people empty their pockets to self-publish when they’re living in poverty, all for this laughable literary ideal?” Mi Xiaolin sneered, “So, my threats are the most effective. If Xie Wenyuan’s project completely ignored his original work. That would be more distressing for him than killing him.”
“But he simply doesn’t care about your threats!”
“That’s because Xia Junjie is too useless. He couldn’t even start a fight or brawl face-to-face when trying to snatch his woman, and he backed down after getting pressed in a car. He’s truly useless!”
Lei Jiangyong looked at Mi Xiaolin somewhat speechless, “You women always make things so complicated. If he had told me earlier, I’d have just gone up and picked a fight. On the first day the author arrived in the city, he got into a fight and ended up in a police station. How would Xie Wenyuan see that? Who cares whether he’s causing trouble or whatever; there’s no need for you to manipulate others into snatching his women with all these twists and turns.”
Mi Xiaolin shook her head, “You haven’t understood the essence… I’m not trying to directly tarnish his image. I want him to know that we have the ability to do so, to force him to cooperate with us. If you can think of us taking direct action, he certainly can too. That’s the essence of a threat.”
“So has he been threatened now?”
“Not yet.” Mi Xiaolin gently swirled the liquid in her glass, speaking softly, “But through this incident, I discovered a blind spot in their perspective.”
“What?”
“They’ve fortified the hospital where Du Lianfeng and Qi Chengtai are, but Chu Ge and Qiu Wuji, the young couple, are walking around without any defense… You see, what we fear is their ability to save people. Killing them is no different from killing Du Lianfeng and Qi Chengtai. So, why bother with threats and enticements…”
Lei Jiangyong narrowed his eyes.
He hadn’t thought of that angle before.
Killing the young couple would have the same effect as killing Du Lianfeng and Qi Chengtai! There might even be additional benefits. For example, Du Lianfeng was turned into a vegetable by Chu Ge. If they killed Chu Ge, it could be justified as avenging Du Lianfeng, which would earn goodwill from Du Lianfeng’s friends and family and strengthen their own power.
Seeing the look on his face, Mi Xiaolin knew what he was thinking and said with a calm smile, “Don’t blame me for not reminding you. This Chu Ge is definitely more than the E-level potential mentioned in the ‘Directory of Supernatural Abilities.’ He’s impervious to blades and bullets. Judging by his ability to withstand a Ferrari, he’s probably even stronger than that. And he managed to break free from Du Lianfeng’s mental world and counterattack him. We still don’t know the full extent of his abilities.”
“Supernatural abilities don’t typically encompass everything. From the angles we know, like invincibility and immense strength, it’s an all-around enhancement, including the body and mind. He’s basically a superhero,” Lei Jiangyong confidently laughed, “He seems to have no weaknesses, but I think killing him wouldn’t be that difficult.”
Mi Xiaolin replied nonchalantly, “Just bring more people with you.”
“I know, no need for your nagging.” Lei Jiangyong turned around and left in long strides.
Mi Xiaolin stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching Lei Jiangyong leave the villa. A cold smile crept onto her lips, “Idiot.”
As she spoke, the air behind her seemed to distort slightly, and an ethereal voice seemed to come from nowhere, “You didn’t say that when you seduced him into bed.”
Mi Xiaolin turned around and knelt on the floor, her voice coy, “That’s just part of the master’s plan. Through that, we can bring them into the fold… In Xiaolin’s heart, there’s only the master…”
“Heh…” The voice chuckled softly, then continued, “Why did you send Lei Jiangyong to kill Chu Ge? What’s your reasoning?”
Mi Xiaolin respectfully replied, “If Lei Jiangyong can kill Chu Ge, then the problem will be resolved. If there’s any trouble, he’ll bear the brunt of it. If he’s killed in retaliation, the company will be ours, and Chu Ge will be stuck in legal trouble. He’ll have to reconsider cooperating with us. No matter the outcome, it benefits us.”
“We need to be prepared on two fronts.” The voice said, “If the battle between Chu Ge and Lei Jiangyong distracts them, diverting attention away from guarding those two, especially if it draws the police’s focus… then I will personally intervene, for a permanent solution.”
Mi Xiaolin prostrated herself on the ground, a mix of astonishment and delight, “Has the master arrived in the city?”
“For something of this scale, a visit is necessary…”
“With the master personally involved, even if they have protection of deities, they’re as good as done!”
