You're My Only Star

Special Assistant Bei Yuan was aware that his boss was in a foul mood.

Initially, he could not understand why did his boss's mood turn sour after meeting Manager Shi. However, after a while, Bei Yuan recalled that she had seen Manager Shi's face before.

A while ago, Manager Shi had attended an interview at the company. Her qualification was good but in the end, President Lu Xun had told him to discard her application. The woman will never be allowed to work under their group.

Bei Yuan could not understand why his boss had rejected someone like Manager Shi. However, he was also aware that he was not in any position to ask anything.

The vehicle finally stopped in front of the hotel. 

Lu Xun alighted from the car and went to the reception desk to check in.

Once he got his key, Lu Xun informed his assistant not to disturb him and only come over to find him before he met with their business partner the next morning.

After he had entered his room, Lu Xun spent a long time looking at his computer.

Each time that he had run into his ex-girlfriend, Lu Xun would be in a bad mood. He looked at his computer with the intention to throw away some money in the stock market. But each time, instead of losing money, Lu Xun would make more money instead.

The phone on his desk rang for a long time. 

Lu Xun finally looked away. He picked up his phone and was surprised to see the name in the caller ID. He quickly swiped his finger on the screen and pressed the phone to his ear. "Xing Xing?"

"En. It's me."

Hearing her voice, Lu Xun could feel his shoulder no longer as stiff. He could not help but feel a little surprised that this girl was taking initiative to call him.

"Are you busy?"

Lu Xun glanced at his computer screen before he quickly looked away. "I'm just resting in my room." He stood up and swiftly closed his computer. At this time, he was no longer interested in looking at those numbers.

"Well, you said that you were going to call after checking into the hotel."

Lu Xun pursed his lips into a thin line. He did not dare to mention that he had forgotten his promise. He was only beginning to chase after her but it seemed that he had already made a mistake.

At this time, he had no other excuse. "Sorry. I was preoccupied with work."

"It's fine. You are in T Country for business matters. I could understand if you are busy," Song Xing Xing said. "It was just that… I was worried when I did not hear from you. I thought something might happen." 

Lu Xun had promised to give her a call and because of that, she has been looking forward to hearing from him. However, after a long time, the man had not given her a call.

Later, Song Xing Xing found that she kept on looking at her phone anxiously. She could not play her game because she was worried that Lu Xun would call. She could not concentrate on watching television.

She hesitated to call him for a long time. But in the end, Song Xing Xing picked up her phone dialed his number.

Meanwhile, a certain someone was in a very good mood to have someone worrying about him. 

"Did you have your dinner yet?"

"Dinner?" Lu Xun glanced at his watch and realized that it was nighttime. It seemed that he has been looking at his computer for a long time. He did not realize that the sky had turned dark outside. "I haven't."

"It's already this late and you still haven't eaten anything." Song Xing Xing looked at the time and counted the time difference. "The kitchen should still be in operation. You should order something to eat before the kitchen close."

The smile on his lips stretched up and a warm feeling spread in his heart. It seemed that he haven't experienced such feelings for a long time. "Un. I know. I will call the room service now."

"Then, I'll wait for you."

Lu Xun picked up the phone to call the room service. His call with Song Xing Xing was still ongoing while he placed his order of food.  Then, the two of them continued to chat for a long time until his doorbell rang.

"Is that the room service?" 

Lu Xun glanced at the door. "Un. It's probably is."

"Then, I'll hang up first. You should go and have your dinner."

After saying a few more words, Lu Xun finally hung up. He put his phone on the desk and walked over to the door.

The moment the door swung open, the smile on his face quickly disappeared. His face darkened as he looked at the face that he has been trying to avoid.

Lu Xun could have sworn that Shi An Na's existence was like a ghost. This woman kept on haunting him wherever he goes.

Each time that he had tried to forget her, this woman would show up again. It was as if he was not allowed to move on from her.

Instinctively, Lu Xun tried to slam the door shut. However, Shi An Na was persistent enough and had stopped him from shutting her away. 

"Lu Xun, please, we need to talk." Shi An Na's voice was pleading.

His eyes narrowed as he looked at the spot where Shi An Na was holding. "Let go."

"No."

Lu Xun took a deep breath to calm down. "Miss Shi, after we broke up a few years ago, there was nothing left for us to say."

"I won't let go until you talk to me."

"Have you forgotten?" Lu Xun sneered. "The last time, it was you who told me that we should never see each other again. Miss Shi, for a woman, to suddenly show up in front of a man's door... what do you think you are trying to do?"

Shi An Na's face turned pale. Instinctively, she pulled at the collar of her dress. She bit at her lips and spoke in a soft voice. "Lu Xun, I am divorced."

"What does that got to do with me?" His voice was cold. "Shi An Na, don't show up in front of me again!"

The woman looked at him helplessly. It seemed that after years of not seeing each other, this man had changed a lot. He was no longer the same person that she remembered in her mind.

"I don't have anyone else to turn to. Lu Xun, can't you help me? For old time sake, can you hear me out and help me?"
