American Comics: Multiverse of Madness

504. Three Entry Points.

504. Three Entry Points.

Staring blankly at Alex, the Watcher suddenly felt a surge of indescribable emotions rise within its heart.

For a long time, their species had taken it upon themselves to observe the multiverse. No one knew how much effort they had put in to protect this world.

Perhaps in the eyes of those superheroes, the Watcher was one of the supreme beings, the most powerful among the world's abilities, the top of the pyramid.

But only they knew that, in the face of those higher-dimensional unknown existences, they were nothing. In order to make those unknown beings take interest in this place, they had sacrificed so much.

They didn't even know if their voices could reach out.

So when Alex said those words to them, the Watcher felt, for the first time, the sensation of being acknowledged. It was an experience they had never had before, as though everything they had done had received a response.

"Thank you, Alex."

"No need to thank me." Alex, with a smile, lightly patted the Watcher's shoulder. "I don't know about others, but to me, your story is amazing."

The Watcher nodded heavily, then sighed.

"So, what should we do next? If the source of the contamination really comes from the world you're from, then as you said before, we have no way to fight against it."

Upon hearing this, Alex fell silent as well.

Indeed, the birth and spread of the contamination had been faster than they had imagined, and they still hadn't figured out how it appeared.

Although there were some guesses, they still didn't understand how the contamination spread from a higher dimension to the multiverse. Also, they had not unraveled the secret of the worms.

What was the relationship between the worms and the contamination? Why did those worms have their own intelligence and wisdom? What did they represent to the higher-dimensional beings? These were all questions that Alex wanted to clarify at this moment.

"Don't rush. A meal is eaten bite by bite, and tasks are done one by one. After all, we've already come this far, so we're not missing much by taking things step by step. We have a goal now, so let's start from the basics."

Hearing Alex's words, the Watcher agreed. It thought for a moment and then spoke.

"Then, according to your idea, where should we start?"

"Let me think."

Alex straightened up, pacing back and forth as he pondered the next steps.

Since they had confirmed that the source of the contamination was likely related to the world Alex had been in before crossing over, there was no need to continue searching for universes already invaded by the contamination.

Once the contamination erupted, that parallel universe was doomed to be destroyed. Even if Alex went personally, he might not be able to save everyone and might even find himself in a passive situation.

In that case, there was no need for Alex to waste time on such futile efforts. To ensure his safety and that of his friends, he had to sever the source of the contamination at its root.

With this thought, a glint of determination flashed in Alex's eyes.

"I got it!"

"Tell me." The Watcher became interested. It hadn't expected Alex to find an entry point so quickly, and its excitement grew.

"Since the contamination comes from my world, we should visit those universes most closely connected to my world. Perhaps we'll make some discoveries." Alex said earnestly.

"Most closely connected to your world?" The Watcher furrowed its brow, somewhat confused by Alex's meaning. Perhaps it understood what Alex was trying to say, but it didn't quite comprehend.

"Yes, I recalled my experiences after arriving in this world. It seems that every universe has traces of contamination, but the difference is that in some worlds, the contamination has already erupted, while in others, it's still lurking."

Alex remembered the action report that Miss Minutes had organized for him, from the ruined universes at the beginning to the final The Boys universe. It was as if he had been accompanying the contamination all along.

"How can you be sure it's a dormant contamination? There are countless parallel universes on the verge of destruction. Can every one of them be caused by contamination?"

"That's something I can't guarantee, so I'm just speculating. But there is one universe that is definitely related to the contamination, and it even has a close connection to my world!" Alex said, stressing each word.

Looking at the determined Alex, the Watcher fell into thought. Originally, it believed that everything in the multiverse operated according to the will of the universe, and it had never imagined that a universe could connect with higher dimensions.

"Which universe?"

"The Flashpoint universe, the one where Kara is from." Alex revealed the answer.

"The Flashpoint universe, huh."

The Watcher pressed its lips together, its expression somewhat strange.

"It's probably beyond our sight. Although that world is closely connected to ours, there is a wall of reality blocking it. Even we Watchers can't penetrate the parallel universes of that world."

"I know that, of course. In worlds with superheroes, the rules of each universe are different, but you must trust me, I can say with 100% certainty that that universe has been deeply influenced by my world."

"Why are you so sure?"

The Watcher frowned, suddenly thinking of something, and asked with confusion.

"Could it be that you witnessed the birth of that universe before you came here?"

"Not exactly. I saw the destruction of that universe before I came here." Alex scratched his head awkwardly.

"The destruction of that universe!?"

Upon hearing this, the Watcher immediately became restless.

If before this was merely speculation, then with Alex's confirmation, the Watcher could be sure that the higher-dimensional world indeed had the power to freely rewrite the multiverse.

"Indeed, we are nothing but dust in a sandbox."

Closing its eyes in agony, the Watcher's heart was filled with complexity. It was hard to imagine that one day it would come to possess such forbidden knowledge, which was equivalent to denying the meaning of its own existence.

"Focus, buddy, now is not the time for sighs and laments."

"You're right."

Listening to Alex's words, the Watcher felt like it was speaking with its creator. It refocused and steered the conversation back to the connection between the two worlds.

"Although I can't observe that world, I can feel the power of the creatures within that universe. You said that universe was destroyed before you came here. I want to know exactly how it was destroyed."

"Well, this is actually hard to explain in a short time."

Alex rubbed his temples, trying to find a suitable reason to help the Watcher understand better. After a moment, Alex spoke.

"By the way, do you know The Flash?"

"When the Earth of the Wasteland and the Earth of Apokolips established a connection, I had the fortune to witness Barry Allen restarting the universe. He possesses some very mysterious energy."

The Watcher answered honestly, then shifted its tone, puzzled.

"But what does this have to do with the connection between the two worlds?"

"In simple terms, the guy who played The Flash in my world went rogue. He's no longer The Flash in our world."

"Then who is he?"

"He's Reverse-Flash."

"Reverse-Flash?"

The Watcher's expression was quite dramatic. Alex could see at least ten different emotions changing on its face, indicating that this piece of information had a significant impact on it.

"Anyway."

Alex wasn't planning to dwell on this topic any longer, so he continued.

"The specifics are hard to explain, but you just need to know that because of a series of events, that universe had to be restarted. Even the Apokolips universe had to be part of this restart.

This isn't about the natural development of the multiverse, but entirely because of the changes in my world, and that is our main focus going forward."

"I think I understand. You mean, if we want to find the connection between the contamination and the world, we must look at the universes that underwent irreversible changes due to the influence of higher-dimensional dimensions."

The Watcher nodded thoughtfully, as if grasping a bit of the idea.

"You could say that. Of course, you don't need to worry too much about the safety of your world. Contamination outbreaks are still rare, and the vast majority of parallel universes are in safe environments."

Alex reassured the Watcher. "Besides, the birth of your world is, in a way, a kind of restraint for some people in my world."

"Restraint?"

The Watcher looked up.

"Yes, restraint."

Alex smiled slightly.

"Once the multiverse was born, it couldn't be stopped. Now, it's not just you who are maintaining the safety of the multiverse, even the creators of this world don't want it to collapse."

At this point, Alex looked at the Watcher seriously and spoke.

"Because of the destruction or restart of universes caused by the changes in my world, there are many such universes. We can't make too much noise, as it might cause unnecessary trouble. So, our initial goal should be smaller."

"Do you already have a plan?"

The Watcher knew that Alex was a decisive person, so it immediately stood up.

"I have three entry points, but two of them are closely related to the main universe, and even a small mistake could cause unknown consequences. Oh, by the way, the main universe I'm referring to is not the same as what you understand as the main universe."

"Tell me more."

Nodding, Alex began to explain.

"Alright, the first one is..."
