Chapter 200 200 – The Blood-Bender
[Vorn's POV]
My fast-forward feature stops automatically when Phisovia calls me again. I felt something was wrong.
"What's wrong, Phisovia?" I asked, hearing the sound of the wind, the sign of the succubus general still flying.
"There's an intruder, my lord," she replied. "I don't know what really happened yet. I'm on my way to the base. I'll keep you posted."
Even though the news made my heartbeat increase, I answered calmly. "Fine, I'll contact the others."
After turning off the call, I called Ayre. "I heard there was an intruder, Ayre."
"Kayla and Kaine escaped, my lord," Ayre answered in a quick tone. "Several of our members were killed by them, and we don't know where they went yet."
"Let me know if there's anything new." I got up from the chair. "It will still take a while until I can teleport there."
"Very well, your majesty. I will lead the search."
After the call ended, Velvet woke up.
"Something wrong, my lord?" She got off the bed.
I sighed. "There are dangerous prisoners on the loose. Our trip will end early."
The dragon lady, still naked, approached me. "We must prepare ourselves, then."
My eyes fell on the clock on my game UI. It's 10:43 PM, still more than an hour before I can teleport to the base.

"How long are you going to carry me?" Kayla grumbled. "I'm not a kid anymore."
"Huh? A pregnant woman shouldn't be too tired. Poor baby in your womb…. Ouch!"
Kaine's words were cut off by Kayla hitting him on the head. The female vampire forced herself down, then the two of them walked between the large boulders.
"We're getting closer to him." Kaine raised his left hand. The thin metal bracelet on it was already showing a strong vibration.
"Sometimes I think whether our decision is right to work with him?" Kayla muttered. "Is it true that he can resurrect Vorn again?"
"It's not 'sometimes' anymore. You've said that many times, Kay." Kaine shrugged. "We have to admit it. He's the greatest dark wizard we've ever met. He should have been able to revive the real Vorn, not the one currently ruling this place. That being is a fake. What kind of demon lord would pity humanity?"
"Even if the real Vorn was resurrected, would he be willing to help us expand our vampire nation to make it legit?"
Kaine was silent for a moment. "If you have another solution, say so, Kay. I hate to admit it, but humans always have a way of exterminating us. The lack of solidity among the vampires doesn't help either."
Kay had already opened her mouth to speak again, but she then chose to keep silent.
They kept walking and arrived at a garbage dump with all kinds of trash. The bracelet on Kaine's hand vibrated even more violently.
"Holy shit. They didn't even give him a proper place." Kayla covered her nose because of the foul stench.
Kaine went to a corner of the dump and picked up a human skull.
"Hello, are you still there?" The male vampire tapped that thing and brought it to his ear. "I can't hear you."
"Maybe he needs a little extra mana?" Kayla guessed.
"Maybe." Kaine shrugged, then pressed his palm against the skull. Before long, his hands were glowing dimly. "Ah, it really is him…. Hey, don't suck up my mana too much, you bastard!"
"Oh, come on." The skull made a sound, though its mouth didn't move at all. "I still need a lot of mana."
"You can talk already. That's enough." Kaine snorted.
"Why have you only come here now?" The skull asked in an irritated tone. "I've been here months, you know?"
"Well, we still have to deal with the internal affairs of the vampire kingdom. You know that our people have high egos."
"Enough chatter." Kayla checked the situation. She narrowed her eyes when she heard some footsteps in the distance. "We have to get out of here fast."
"No, we have to go somewhere." The skull responded. "Go southeast. Something interesting there."
Kayla folded her arms across her chest, giving the skull a look of disbelief. "Are you fucking kidding me? That's the way back to their base! We went all the way here to save you! Why do we have to go back!?"
"Yeah, it's tough to come here. Especially since I have to carry a heavy load." Kaine grinned at Kayla, who looked pissed off even more. Then, the male vampire turned to the skull again. "What's in there?"
"It will still take a very long time to create a new body." The skull explained. "My magic hasn't fully recovered yet. And I sensed something interesting in the southeast, an extraordinary object that could become my temporary body."
"But I don't think that's wise. They must be doing a big search." Kaine started walking in the opposite direction from the base. "So, it's better if we run away instead."
"Well, if you guys want to go to the trouble of gathering materials for my new body, I don't mind. But you have to be prepared to bother. I need a special body containing a huge amount of magical energy. Admit it, you guys need my magic skills, right?"
Kaine paused for a moment, then looked at his little sister. "Climb on my back again, Kayla."
The female vampire widened her eyes. "What!?"
The footsteps drew closer, and Kaine handed the skull to Kayla.
"I guess I should be a little more serious." The male vampire massaged the nape of his neck.
"You still use that lame blood-bending magic?" the skull asked again. "If you could control more blood volume, you would be even more powerful, Kaine. Your fighting instincts are extraordinary."
A bitter chuckle left the male vampire's mouth. "You don't usually comment on that."
"That's because I can't fight this time, and I doubt your ability!" The skull snapped. "You…. Hey, stop this!!! Don't make fun of me, bitch!!!"
The skull kept grumbling because Kayla threw it up and down like a circus ball.
"Shut up, bastard." Kaine stood by with his two blood disks rotating around his body. "And watch me."
