Chapter 202 202 – Prophet’s Guards
"Fergus Algrave?" The third guard also gasped. "The dark magus?"
The door to the room is fully open. Kaine and his sister entered and immediately looked around.
Velvet's bodyguards grew alert. They don't want to attack yet because they don't know what they will face.
"Ah, looks like I was wrong." The skull in Kayla's hand muttered in a hoarse voice.
Kaine shook his head. "I had trouble opening this door, you know?"
"What else can I do? I can't exactly pinpoint that thing…." The skull was silent for a moment. "Wow, is that a new kind of vehicle? I have to admit, that thing looks impressive. Unfortunately, it can never fly."
Nate slightly opened his mouth. Fergus was talking about the flying bike Nate is building.
"Don't mind what he says, Nate," Helen said. "I've seen your blueprints, and I'm sure you can pull it off."
Fergus laughed. "Hey, if you know my name, then you should know that I've been the greatest magus for decades! My knowledge is vast! If I say impossible, then it's impossible! ! That thing will become trash!"
"Are you here just going to talk?" Kaine massaged the nape of his neck again. "Or are we going to look for that armor?"
"I see." The second guard pointed his sword forward. "You came back here to steal, huh?"
There was a coded tone in those words that triggered Helen to fire a sharp chunk of ice. Kaine instantly destroyed that thing using his blood disks.
Then, the other three guards advanced almost simultaneously, giving out combinations of sword moves from various directions.
Kaine immediately dodged, picked up Kayla, and carried her far away from there. After putting his twin to the ground, the male vampire had to face Velvet's bodyguards again.
Their slashes and stabs left Kaine only able to dodge. He occasionally used his blood disks to drive away his opponents or destroy the ice shots.
That man had absolutely no chance to attack. The movements of those women are so fluid, fast, and precise. There is almost no pause between one movement to another.
Their levels were clearly above the demons and undeads he had fought earlier.
Seeing an opening, Kaine made his move. However, his blood disk was successfully blocked by one of the guards using a shield.
"Mythril, huh?" Kaine muttered.
So, the only parts he could attack were the joints and heads of those women, which were not protected by armor.
He continued to dodge, occasionally destroying the sharp chunks of ice that came at him. Yes, he has not been able to strike back. However, that doesn't mean he's desperate.
The movements of the female bodyguards were indeed extraordinary, so refined as a result of intense training. They did repetitions until their movements became the best.
However, from that repetition, a pattern is formed. During his observation, Kaine gradually knew the timing and angle of each of those warriors' moves.
Because they were too refined, their every move was always consistent. The angle of their movement will not change even one inch.
And finally, one of Kaine's blood disks scratched the third guard's armpit. That woman with brown skin jumped backward while grimacing in pain.
Just as her feet landed on the ground, her injured part exploded, spurting out a large amount of blood and scattering the pieces of the body.
"Aurelle!!!" The first guard screamed hysterically as her partner fell.
"Fiona, look out!!!" The second guard gave a warning, but one of Kaine's blood disks managed to scratch the joint of her friend's leg.
And just a second later, the body of the first guard was sent flying upwards as his legs exploded.
"Shit!" The second guard could only dodge. She had absolutely no chance of counterattacking. Her friends who made fluid movement sequences with her are gone. "Arrrgggghhh!!!"
One blood disk decapitated her. She then fell, her head rolling on the ground.
Kaine could not rest yet. He still had to avoid a sharp chunk of ice coming at him.
"You don't want to give up, huh? That's amazing." Kaine spread his smile at the witch, who was still raising her staff, even though her legs were shaking. "You really are the real tough type, and I like that. So how about you join us, beautiful?"
Helen didn't answer and just swallowed hard. As Kaine advanced, she retreated.
And suddenly, Kayla bit her neck from behind.
The witch collapsed when the female vampire sucked her blood. As a witch, she doesn't get training like warriors, so she doesn't realize Kayla's presence.
"Let me go!!!" Helen tried to break free while crying. "It hurts!!! It hurts!!!"
Kayla didn't care and kept sucking the poor woman's blood.
"Hurry up, Kay." Kaine approached his twin. "I know virgin blood is tasty, but you don't have to suck it all out."
"You said it. The blood of a virgin might cure me." Kayla's voice was barely audible because she was still sucking Helen's blood. "I'll finish her!"
"I don't want the generals to come here…." Kaine stopped talking when he heard a creak from Nate's experiment room.
The magic scientist pushed out the cart that housed his flying bike. Kaine raised an eyebrow as he saw the four exhausts behind the bike facing him.
"Eat this." Nate hissed and pressed the button on the bike, igniting a jet of black smoke from the exhausts.
"What the fuck!!!" Kayla released her bite, then coughed hard.
Even though Nate's main occupation is as a scientist, he can use some basic magic. It was mandatory to pass the magic academy. So, he raised his magic staff and used the wind element to swirl the black smoke to wrap around the vampire twins.
"I can't see anything!!!" Kayla screamed.
"Stay calm!!!" Kaine coughed violently. "We can get away from this!!!"
"You guys are so stupid!!! How could you two get caught up in such a trick!!!" Fergus, who was on the ground some distance away, snapped. "You should know what will happen when that fucker brings out that thing!!!"
"I don't know what's going to happen, you bastard!!!" Kaine replied, still coughing.
Still aiming his magic staff at the cloud of smoke, Nate grabbed Helen, helped her up, then held the witch to escape.
"Thanks." Helen could only whisper because her consciousness had diminished.
