Chapter 185: Sneaky Scouts
Initially, Harry had been hesitating whether to use his trump card or not due to the fact that he would probably hit Kiin as well if he did decide to use it.
However, Kiin's resolve dispelled all of his worries. He wouldn't actually be hurt anyway due to the mana barrier.
In addition to this, as friends, they usually piss each other off so having a chance to give Kiin a big one without any repercussions sounded truly appealing.
Thus, after hearing Kiin's words, Harry even felt a bit excited.
If he could take both of the Eusford representatives down along with Kiin, then he would be gloriously standing on the stage alone.
Daydreaming about the pleasant near future, Harry continued casting, the storm clouds becoming thicker and darker as seconds went by.
By this time, the alarm signals in Finn's head were ringing like crazy.
'This bastard…is he planning to strike his teammate down?!' thought Finn. "Lev, let's finish this guy off! We need to get out of here, quick!"
"I know that even if you don't tell me!" retorted Lev.
Gnashing his teeth due to the pressure looming above them, Lev and Finn used their trump cards almost simultaneously.
Azure wings suddenly appeared on Lev's back, temples, and ankles, boosting his physical capabilities.
Once his transformation was done, he immediately charged towards the defenseless Kiin, completely out of skills to use.
"Do it, Harry!"
*BANG*
As Lev's sword touched Kiin's neck, a terrifying lightning bolt struck the spot where Kiin and the other two Eusford representatives converged, sending fragments of destroyed tiles flying everywhere, some even dangerously flying toward the crowd.
Luckily no one except those who should be were hurt.
Harry smiled menacingly.
Seeing his skill [Thunder Strike Lv.3 (Uncommon)], squarely hitting his opponents and his annoying friend was a good feeling.
As the dust settled, two azure rays flew out of the stage. One flew toward the Colzen ringside whilst the other shot straight to the Eusford ringside.
"Shit! I was too slow!" raged Lev as he punched the ground multiple times in frustration.
In contrast, Kiin was in a good mood, thinking that his elimination in exchange for the elimination of both their opponents was a good deal.
However, Harry noticed that there were only two azure rays, and if one was Kiin and one was Lev, then…
'Crap!'
"Too late, drop dead"
Another azure ray suddenly shot from the stage towards…the Colzen ringside.
Who would've thought that Finn would decisively use his trump card against Harry instead of Kiin?
Not only did he avoid the thunder strike, but he also managed to take out the remaining Colzen representative, Harry, to successfully take the first match for the illustrious Eusford Academy.
"Wha– What's? What?! The monstrous mage was suddenly eliminated! Too sneaky! Too stealthy! Eusford's representative, Finn Sevens, snatches match number one from the jaws of defeat!!
The illustrious Eusford Academy remains unshaken!! The dark horse, Colzen, falters in the first match!! Their first-ever defeat in the entire competition!"
Realizing they lost, Kiin and Harry clenched their fists so hard.
Both of them couldn't understand how Finn survived the lightning strike when clearly, he was there in front of Kiin when the lightning blasted everything into pieces around Kiin's periphery.
Unbeknownst to them, everything was due to Finn's skill, [Mirage Trickster Lv.3 (Uncommon)], where his true body would go invisible while a controllable clone remained in Finn's initial position which he then used to attack Kiin as if the clone was him.
Subsequently, once Finn saw that Harry's guard was down, he sneaked right behind him and slit his throat.
A truly brilliant move fitting for a top-tier scout.
Upon realizing the turn of events, the Eusford crowd cheered wildly, some of them even talking trash to the Colzen fans beside them.
Naturally, the Colzen fans were both dejected and frustrated.
Would they lose to one of the three kings like everyone else?
Would the grand finals be between two of the three kingly academies once again?
Adding to their frustrations was an irksome voice, resounding from the left side of the main stage.
"Hahahaha! I told you. You lowlives should just stay down in the dumps where you belong. Everyone thinks they're strong until they face us, the true elites." Finn arrogantly said as he descended from the stage while laughing.
Hearing the words of their adversary, the Colzen representatives couldn't help but glare furiously at Finn.
Harry and Kiin felt so frustrated that their fingernails started digging into their skin due to how tight they were clenching their fists.
They knew that lingering on their defeat like this was not beneficial though so Shye and the other Colzen representatives took a deep breath to calm their raging emotions down and prepare for the next match.
They haven't lost yet and they still have a chance to return the favor.
Unfortunately, they were the ones who had to send a representative out first so they really couldn't choose.
Due to this, the best bet would've been Shye.
However, the dilemma is, that if Shye went out right now, then their last match, the survival match, might be at risk.
Thus, after a quick discussion, Ian jumped up onto the stage.
As one of the three best duelists on the Colzen roster and probably an unfitting representative for the survival match, Ian was the next best choice.
He also hasn't lost even once so he was the perfect choice for the one-on-one match.
"Oh? A scout this time huh? I'll make sure to take my time putting you in your place. Imagining you unable to hold your head high after this match is truly delightful."
A familiar annoying voice sounded from the staircase as a seductive young woman ascended the stage with a playful expression on her face.
'Heh, I knew it was gonna be you.' thought Ian as he drew his flaming dagger out of its customized sheathe, embers lingering in the air for a few moments with every wave.
'I'll make you cry.'
